didn't know that. How do you not mention the "three other swimmers" when two are Longhorns: Conger and Feigen?

He just doesn't have the throwing skills/consistency to be heavily in the mix.@Ketchum @Anwar Richardson How did Heard get lost in the QB fray so quickly? I know he got injured during spring ball but it seemed like he never had a shot at QB once summer ball started last week. What happened? I would almost rather see a Heard/Buechele battle and use Swoopes in the 18-wheeler package only. Did Heard ever have a true shot after getting over his Spring injury? I figured this system would benefit him.
You don't know that. No one does.If they are even in practice, they will be miles apart in games..
well, thank you.Have to say Ketch this was a very well written piece I am impressed.
I'm not even going to take that as an insult. It was pretty damn cool. The Prince tweet was the best thing in this whole article
Hopkins is definitely under consideration.Your 5th pick in fantasy is Hopkins or Zeke. Hopkins is probably the safe pick but I would go with Zeke. Could be a huge year for him.
I wanted to talk about Phelps so bad, I mixed their named together. Thanks for the heads up.Joseph Schooling not Michael.
I know not as important as QB talk, but I thought I would mention it
and that's fair. Are you sure about this?
I wouldn't blindly assume at this point that Charlie Strong is operating on sound logic and a high degree of competence when it comes to offensive decision making. Especially with what we've witnessed during the first 31 months of his tenure, where quite frankly, he has poured gasoline on an inherited dumpster fire. I'm not sure we need to rehash the events since Jan 2014, but needless to say, I can't give him the benefit of the doubt anymore regarding anything as it relates to the offense.
a. Buechele needs all the reps he can get, especially if he's going to start. Only one thing, in theory, can keep him from that?Buechele needing all the reps if he was ahead is a horrible argument for why Swoopes might be ahead. Where did that get Strong in 2014 with Ash taking all the reps? You don't think he's learned from that? This is a new offense and he knows that he needs 2 QBs that are ready to go at all times. That means splitting reps during this team camp before ND installation.
Just can't take Johnson with that high of a pick.#5 fantasy FB pick? Go with AP if he drops or David Johnson.
In a standard league, you need TDs and there are only a handful of RBs who are guaranteed 25 touches and goal carries - Gurley, AP, Bell, D Johnson, Elliott, and Hyde. Bell is missing 4 gms, 49ers might not sniff the end zone, and Elliott is an unproven rookie.
Plenty of good WRs still available on next pick.
If you can't understand that he doesn't need as many reps as Buechele, there's no reason in me even trying to discuss it with you.You keep saying this like Swoopes doesn't stink up the joint in game situations.
Don't need reps? I know you keep saying it, but it's dumb as shit. He needs all the reps he can get because he's a terrible QB.
front four is a massive concern. So much talk about the QB position, but will our D be able to stop ND on 3rd and 99? We sure as hell weren't able to stop anybody last year in 3rd and long situations.
a. They need to sign a left back. The rest of the defense will be much better. Matip will emerge as a starter at some point, as Sakho gives them another option as well.I'd probably slow your roll on Liverpool. They are certainly talented in the attacking third. It doesn't appear the backline has improved at all which was a significant issue last year. They aren't title contenders with the defense in its current state.
Also, keep in mind, Arsenal started their 4th and 5th CBs today.
I think the only way it can not be a three and out and more than two first downs is if we get more than 10 yards on the first two plays and then turn it over on our third consecutive first down, no?Lord help swoopes if our first series is a three and out and not more than two first downs
I was talking about Swoopes, and I definitely read the whole article. You'd think.
Who is he? If you mean Swoopes, I explained the reasoning in the article. If you mean Buechele, I answered that in the article.
I'm not sure you fully read the article.
… It’s been All Quiet on the Longhorns Front when it comes to Connor Williams and Patrick Vahe. No spectacular thoughts and no disappointing thoughts, just a bunch of quiet.
It's like people can't see there's a whole second-team offense just waiting for him to take reps with...Not to mention the fact that Swoopes and Buechele have been in this particular offense the exact same amount of time. It is an absurd notion.
Name a team with a sure starter at quarterback that is splitting first team reps, even at an 80-20 rate.I think this is the most interesting argument in the whole thing - not all coaches have the same philosophy about it and not all situations are equal
Your guess is obviously wrong, given what is unfolding, so there's that.He keeps repeating it, but no one is buying it.
Why would one of the worst QB's to ever play at Texas not need first team reps in a new system with new wideouts? It literally makes no sense. If Swoopes was the guy, he wouldn't be sharing first team reps with anyone. My guess is Charlie trusts Swoopes about as much as he trusts a wet fart.
the spring game is almost worthless in terms of importance. You know that, right? It literally has no impact on what is happening right now.Your closing argument completely wiffs on the facts that Shane was a 100% better than Swoopes in the Spring game, that all that went to the open practices saw Shane better and that the only time we "know" that Swoopes was better was in closed practices. So, the only time Swoopes has won is when no one but people that work for Strong say so and by all reports that is only one source. Therefore, your whole argument is based on heresay while evidence, including film, tell the opposite story.
Nothing has changed in terms of what I think. So in 24 hours you are changing your mind like that??
Is Charlie that incompetent? Don't answer that, I think I know the answer.
Texas, representing!Simone is already the greates women's gymnast in the history of the sport. It doesn't matter how beam or floor turn out. What she has done from 2013-now is something USAG has never seen. She's on another planet. And she's a genuinely great person on top of that (unlike some of our former AA champions.)
That isn't a breakdown with a lot of context of what happened. No, he was a quitter when he never came back. How ridiculous is it that he ran away from Texas because of David Ash and Case McCoy. Dude couldn't even wait until the end of the season.
So, wait until game week and that should be just fine?Agreed, come game week a starter will be announced and they will get the majority of reps and THAT is the most important time to get major reps. Remember, this is Swoopes first time with this offense as well.
Just win baby!
propaganda? You guys keep spouting the same propaganda. "Maybe if we repeat it enough, it will become true."
No one literally ever remarks about any other sport I have an opinion on. It's weird.Soccer sucks. I always skip that crap.
agree to disagree, strongly.I was talking about Swoopes, and I definitely read the whole article.
None of that brought me to the definitive support in yours and Anwars assessment. As below avg. as Swoopes has been throughout his career if he was going to be the starter he would also need the lion share of reps. It's a new offense and he tends to hold onto the ball. His seniority doesn't mean much in this instance.
You might very well be right.IMO quiet is good for O line guys.
Zeke would feel like such a homer pick.I think Zeke has a high ceiling and thats who I take at 5. I just make sure I get Alfred Morris as a handcuff. With that line, someone will at least be decent and no one is ever a lock in the top 10.
Keep writing about it if it provides some value to this board. I personally don't care. I'm only one opinion though. Otherwise, good work.No one literally ever remarks about any other sport I have an opinion on. It's weird.
I can't say I totally know those situations frontwards and backwards, so I can't speak to the specifics of each.
What I can tell you is that few would disagree that getting Buechele as ready as possible, with as many reps as possible, is a good thing if he's going to be expected to start and finish the ND game.
No, he was a graduate transfer, not a quitter. Get your hateful facts straight. He also helped the school's football stats by earning a degree ( and in only 3 years). No, he was a quitter when he never came back.
