Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend ("Charlie's guys" have taken over)

Some people don't understand the business aspects of running your operation. Most don't understand the complexities of such a large operation and don't realize it isn't as simple as it appears to be. I think you do a great job considering all of the other outside influences that affect the quality of your product. Looking forward to a great year.

If someone's opinion differs from your own, it doesn't mean necessarily that they "don't understand the business aspects of running [the OB] operation."

I'm not sure he survives 2-3.

Do you think he would be fired after the OU game with a 2-3 start? I don't think there is any way that happens so he will have a chance to survive with a strong back half. I agree, I don't think he survives a 2-3 start but because of what the 2-3 start represents about the team and the prospects for the season as a whole, not the 2-3 start in and of itself.

That 2-3 start will be pretty far away if the team finishes 6-2 with a bowl win behind a very young team and Qb. The whole progress is happening and Texas is finally coming back narratives will take over even if the improved records is mostly a product of a weak back half outside of Baylor and TCU. I don't think 6-2 is possible if we start 2-3, but if it happens I'm not sure they will have the support/gumption to fire him.

Note - This is coming from a guy that wanted Strong the coach fired at the end of last season. Strong the man and recruiter are both keepers.

No, you need to be better because you can't see the world in any shape, form or fashion outside of a single dominant, dangerous prism.

I won't get into this with you but I will say those of us on the other side would say the same about you. It's pointless to debate though cause once you start getting owned on a subject you lock the thread.

That's total bullshit. I'm here... I'm not locking the thread... and I'm calling out your bullshit.

Well of course not. We haven't gotten into it. Are you denying you don't lock threads when the argument starts to go against you?

There's a member of the Waco media on this board.

Probably more than one.

Then they should do the right thing and cover the event. It's time. When Baylor/Ken Starr sends out a tweet addressing the safety of its students, identifies that Pepper Hamilton as the law firm that has been conducting a review of Baylor's handling of previous sexual assault instances, Title IX office changes and adherence to FERPA laws protecting students' privacy, then it is TIME for the local, (and national,) media to take notice.

So, you are arguing the Baylor is doing a fine job with the rape situation?

Excuse me, you called Ketch a lib, which I take it means you think you are a conservative. I take it that it means you are a POS. But hey, pat your position on the back all night. I am sure you think those girls were asking for it, wearing shorts and smiling and all.

The thing i remember most about Simms is that he was the Pick Six King.

Also, he always targeted Roy Williams and completely forgot about BJ Johnson. (Or so it seems in retrospect. --On the other hand, it's hard not to want to target Roy--the guy was a freak.)

Simms had more size and arm talent, but damn, I never thought Major deserved to be benched, especially the minute Simms came on campus. The whole deal left a bad taste in my mouth.

Think Major had more FB smarts.
Great post - Major had twice the heart of Simms, and heart wins football games. No way do I ever rate Simms over Major - never. I don't care about Simm's pedigree or the fact that he had a cup of coffee in the NFL. I'll never take Simms over Major.

Major had a cup of coffee in a NFL training camp. Simms played multiple seasons in the NFL, including time as a starter. A bit more than a cup of coffee.

The political comments on this site are overwhelmingly from the conservative perspective, so I do not see where his beef is coming from. I enjoy reading everyone's side of the argument and to want to deny one side or the other their say is ridiculous.

No mouthbreather, I wasn't referencing anything about Baylor. Try breathing through your nose every once in a while.

Was Applewhite back fully healthy going into 2001? He blew out a knee in Lubbock in 2000 right? That is the only time I remember Simms truly starting over him is the year 2001.

100% agree on Nelson. Unfortunately a fat fighter with a grenade for a right hand is going to pull a big following no matter how boring and outdated his style has become. That fight was just a bad match up between two one tool guys. Rosholt was avoiding the right hand, Nelson was avoiding the takedown and they canceled each other out.

I literally watched the entire Hendicks fight with my mouth open. Wonder Boy made one of the best in the world look like an amateur. Meet the American Machida ladies and gents. Just sick stuff.

I'm glad people are starting to come around on Wonder Boy. I'm a big Hendricks fan but I kinda thought Thompson would pick him apart. He's blazing a trail to become the greatest striker in MMA history, and he's about to make a run for the WW title. He blows Machida away striking wise.

Yes. I'm not denying that you are incapable of having a real conversation without you projecting your politics into it.

Yup, and he's not a Hall of Famer, either.
well, duh. You got beef with George Allen being in the hof? Or Marv Levy? Or Hank Stram?
When you look at Dungy's record, it's 13 seasons with an elite winning percentage and a super bowl win. He was also the first black coach to win a super bowl. You can't tell the story of the NFL from late 90's to mid 2000's without him.

She was THE star of the show. Total superstar that made two other world-class performers look like the B-team.

What makes Rivals skewed? specifically?

Yeah, they are definitely a blessing.

Thanks for the stream of kind words.

I thought Bruno was the best part, Beyonce wasn't entertaining to me, and Coldplay was extremely meh.

If you want to call people lib, be prepared to get called out.

And feel free to call me a mouthbreather all you wish. I laugh in your general direction.

You were just randomly calling me out as a "lib", right? No real specific reason, otherwise, no? Just you being you.

Be better.

Let me try and be nice. Next to DKR I have never seen a better HC than Mack Brown. Nine straight winning seasons of 10 or more wins, one national championship, and played for another. Multiple recruiting classes rated in the top 5, and when other schools were having multiple violations of NCAA rules Texas had virtually none. I will be so glad when every player at Texas can say they never spoke to Mack Brown because then maybe this staff will finally stop bashing one of the best coaches we have ever had.

Mack is a Hall of Famer, but selfishness dominated his final few years.

Most all great coaches have huge egos which lead to being a little selfish at times. No great coach wants to leave or be asked to step down. All the great ones think they can turn it around. I remember the last few years of Tom Landry with Dallas and honestly just like Mack he should have stepped down at least 2 or 3 years before he was let go. To the bitter end Coach Landry thought he could turn it around and get the job done when in reality the team would have been better off if he had retired a couple of years earlier.

doesn't feel like this is something anyone would disagree on. what could possibly be the issue with her MVP performance?

Yet lots of people have. I just thought the show was disappointing overall and she added nothing special other than her ass
