Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Close, but no 2024 cigar?)

It then dawn on me that I had been listening to 8-Ball and MJG for three freaking decades. It made me feel really old to think that this particular piece of music was to a 13-year old in 2023 what Bobby Darin or Frankie Avalon would have been to me in 1989.
We’re about the same age Ketch and this hit me and Mrs. Paulo right in the feels. It’s hard getting old brother! 🥹

Absolutely killed it today my man. Great read.

My wife thinks I'm old. She's a 1982 baby.

Section one was not a fun read. I am going to have to come back to the rest.
😂 this is what happened to me. Read part one, commented and moved on. Still need to read the rest.

Ketch - all 7 of those games won’t be on FOX. Since 3 or 4 may be on FS1, and your $45m calculation is based on gross revenue, do you think $20-25m could do it?

If FOX doesn’t play ball, what do you think the likelihood is that UT & OU cancel upcoming home & homes with Michigan, Ohio State & Nebraska as retaliation? Do you know what the cancellation fee is?

It’s not like OU & UT need those B1G games to boost their homes schedules anymore, now that Bama, LSU, UGA, UF, Tennessee & Auburn, along with Aggy & Piggy will be making regular visits.

Wish we had the numbers for the non-premier games. All of the numbers are estimates.
I’ve never seen TV timeout time quantified. That is a massive amount of time, no wonder we often have games starting on different channels. Seeing those $ numbers also tell us why you won’t see an extra half hour slotted for games, trying to cram as much commercial time as possible into the prime hours to charge prime rates.

we're all in the same spot.

Blame those that signed away those TV rights.
Words cannot properly express how terrible Deloss was at his job at the end. It’s unreal that the damage is still coming a decade later.

I don't understand why you're a hard no on rooting for Chris Beard. To me, rooting for Chris Beard means for him to figure out the right way to truly turn his life around. Sark had to turn his life around, and I'm glad he did. I'm rooting for Beard to see the error of his ways and truly change his life. That's not the same thing as rooting for him to become a big-time D1 coach again. I don't like what Beard did, but I'm not gonna root for him to now face eternal damnation. I am rooting for him to truly change and live a life that's good for him, his family, and his friends.

Texas and OU don’t have to replace 100% of the lost revenue, they need to offer the projected delta between what our games generate, and whatever replacement games Fox airs instead. Maybe it’s $5-10MM, not $45MM

a. I'll try and a concrete answer on the money that's really the sticking point.

b. Texas would be smart to cancel those games. Period.

No discussion of Neyor and his injury?. Either his arrival was overrated (likely) or the Athletic Missed it. And so did 10 Thoughts.

Also @Ketchum dont forget to include replacement value when calculating per game advertising losses. You have to calculate the delta between UT and Cincinnati…which my wild ass guess is 50% so we are talking $20+ MM, not $45 Mm
Exactly, the delta is the relevant number in any analysis. There's also the additional $$ UT would make in the SEC in '24.

Without being an insider, there is just no way to know what UT is willing to concede to Fox to make the deal. Not yet.

Thanks for taking the first of my B/S. I think the latter two B/S entries I will resubmit at a later date, perhaps after Spring ball when the pecking order of the back-up QBs is better decided.

I think that there needs to be an acceptance by OBers that if Ewers falters, it does not mean Arch will be vault into the starter's role. In addition, I think that if Ewers stay healthy and Sark does not get over 8 regular season wins next year, his welcome will begin to wear thin.

It's somewhere in the middle. Not on that low projection or this would be handled.

Dont know who is a FA next year but if they let Irving walk they can have space for a max player if they can land one. The onlything they have left to trade is Wood.
I think they make the trade knowing they will pay Kyrie.
