Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (I give you permission to dream big)

Ketch, what a buzzkill with the Sterlin speculation! It's possible, also possible that SG wants to ride with Shane for a few years b/c of the kid's talent . . . that's my big dream.

Also means SG is a killer hire, love it!

So basically you're saying we would have to win over 10 games and go to the final 4? That's asking a lot for this young team but I could see how other teams would be knocking on his door to be HC

In 2014 when TCUs offense along with Boykin ran through College Football all it did was get Cumbie a raise as an OC at other schools and Meachem some interest with places like UNT. Again, if Baylor wanted to do that shy in the world would they not give it to Kendall Briles? Basically it's not gonna happen. Playoffs or not.

He'd get to move back to Texas, coach at a football first school, and likely get a hefty pay raise. I don't know what he's making after he signed his extension, but he was making less than 2 million base salary last season.
You left out the bad parts.

Kid Briles isn't an option, which is one of the reasons I think SG might turn out to be one.

thought I'd ask your opinion again.

Does the upper echelon of UT (think admin and the folks that nuuafaola talks about) care enough about the scummy goings on at Baylor to force the NCAA's hand (assuming they could) on baylor?

Would the potential/actual Rape U approaching Gilbert for their coach, make a difference in the above?

If there is as much disgust at UT re the goings on in Waco as some are suggesting, then why not go scorched earth on them - helps to take care of the rodents in the woodshed, and preserve your prized OC at the same time.

I doubt it. I haven't sensed that.

Dude, I'm half giving you a hard time. All relationships go through cycles, come on. All I know is that I love coming on here and love TX football, and there are ups and downs in each.
I'm just saying it's disappointing, for me personally, that our interactions seem so sideways.

I thought the same thing about this year Clemson's team! I'm ready to see what the rest of the year has in store for Shane and the horns, pumped to be relevant again! Let's go get em this week boys, no playin around and put he bears away quickly! \\m//

Tongue in cheek, really. No beef. I was feeling righteous that the refs stiffed the Cowboys. Karma is - 'rightful' identifier is redundant. Wasn't really seriously criticizing
I think that the actual rule is an unfair and poor rule. An offense should not be able to end the game on a play when it commits a penalty. So, while the refs got it wrong, I thought it was the right call from the universe.

It is seeming as if Baylor will walk out of this with only the loss of their scumbag head coach. It's yesterday's news now and there does not appear to be an ongoing investigation to learn the width and depth of the extent to which this supposedly Christian university sold its soul to the devil for the sake of football. Almost certainly there are facts that are not being pursued, that, if Baylor has its way, will never be known except to their inner circle.

Ok sure if we win the national championship and Baylors first 6 options say no then yes Gilbert would be an option lol. Why would they want to go that route over Babers? He's absolutely would take that job, as would Montgomery, and those aren't even gonna be the first options. Hell Babers learned under Briles, taught Montgomery, and actually has HC experience as well as successful tenures. Nothing logical suggest if they want this offense they are gonna take the bigger risk. They aren't hiring a green coordinator with no HC experience. If they want to let Grobe run the show another year then sure, but 2017 isn't happening. I know you call the situation a unicorn but you also predicted it so it must not be too unique. I guarantee that even with a national championship run Gilbert won't sniff a Power 5 interview or consideration.

When Colleges start to do unconventional things like this every once in awhile I'll believe it.

Baylor ran out the clock, just as it did last year. Football is too big of a distraction for us.

You don't think college do unconventional things?

I guess you forgot about that whole Muschamp HCIW deal...

Yea but you're omitting a lot. Like how Muschamp was a sole DC at LSU for 3 years, won a national championship, and one year led the nation in scoring defense and total defense. He then went to the NFL to be an assistant head coach at Miami. He then went to Auburn to field a top 7 defense in the country. Look at how many years of coordinator experience that is at big time programs.

Unconventional is a coordinator getting an opportunity to be a HC at a Power 5 school after being a coordinator for one season at a big time school, that's what I'm basing my argument off of and HC jobs don't work like that at big schools. Hence the reason why it won't happen in 2017, nor will any other Power 5 school even look to interview him I can guarantee it.

They lost their AD and President too. They will certainly owe millions to the girls, probably have severe consequences under Title IX from the Dept of Education and their one piece of good luck is how hopeless and pointless the NCAA has become.

I'm not in disagreement that it would be unusual. I'm only suggesting that this is an unusual situation and I'm projecting his stock taking off big-time.
