Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Leavitt just couldn't help himself...)

I’m content to wait and see on UGA’s QB situation. The ND game will be fascinating with him having 2 weeks to prepare. He flashed some arm strength against us that could be good enough to get them through if he doesn’t turn it over. The path couldn’t be better for them.

Agree on Cook. Goofy decision to bail out. Also, it’s not like he’s a talented WR playing for a bad team… like Hudson. If you can’t get on the field in Sark’s offense because of work ethic, it’s not going to play out well for you in the portal.

Also agree on tOSU, especially if the Tennessee version of that team is what’s waiting on Texas. No thanks. That’s the most dangerous team on the planet when they play like that.

I'm just going to sit over in the corner and shut the hell up about it all until the season is over. He's either going to be remembered as an all-time great as a national champion or something a little less than that, but the discussion of it all has worn me out.
Yep. He is arguable in the top two for best pure passers in program history. All that is left is to climb the mountain. With this defense and hopefully feeling a little healthier, I’m optimistic. Whip ASU, survive OSU, and then bring it home.

I think he's just a guy.

@Ketchum
The secondary should be better next year with Manny and JG having experience and Taaffe and Willians returning with McDonald and one of Filsaime or Jonah getting 2nd team reps. Texas needs to grab a corner in the portal just in case Black and Roberson are not ready.

Black needs to lean out a lil. He’s tall but he looks bulky.

Edge and LB will be better. DT and CB1 will be the only position where I look for some type of falloff.

Plus the portal punter giving the defense good field position than Kern did this year.

I’m curious if NIL played a role in Cook getting released? Did he get a longer leash because there was a significant investment in him or less of a leash once he started causing problems while not producing at a high NIL investment.

There is likely “dead money” on the roster that is not causing problems but also not producing. I wonder if there are NIL pay cuts?

a. Taaffe coming back is iffy at best. He walked on senior day by choice for a reason.
b. Williams is coming off of a major injury that sometimes needs more than 12 months.
c. Texas needs to take any elite DB it thinks is starting caliber.

Couldn’t resist. Running out of days to knock QE.

Two things about the comments really stood out to me.

a. Leavitt might be right in saying he's the better quarterback.
b. He has to play the Texas defense on Wednesday, Ewers doesn't.

Are you new here? Bad mouthing means objective truths that people don't like to hear.
The reality of Ewers is that he came back for another season to boost his NFL stock and whatever words you might want to use to describe this season, you couldn't claim that his NFL stock is better.

That's the reality of his situation, pending these potential final three games.

Yeah I’m on burn out with it all. The reality is so obvious and those who don’t get it will never get it. Ready to see it be over, hopefully with a title and the young man riding off into the sunset as a legend, not as a trivia question. I’m just tired of it all, and that’s not on him. He’s played his ass off and had injuries and it just hasn’t fully come together the way he or anyone else thought it would. Ce la vie.

Honestly, we're at a point where I hesitate to even bring Ewers' name up in conversation, as he's turned into the Greg Davis of Texas quarterbacks ... a guy with a resume that can't really be doubted, yet there's always constant discussion about all of the doubt.
I think it's pretty fair to say that there are a lot of front-running, fairweather Texas fans that don't know shit except for the fact that Arch Manning is on the roster and not starting.

If the Texas backup was named Joe Smith, no one would be chirping about any of this.

It's as simple as that.

If you just looked at his won/loss ledger, you'd think the convo would sound so different.

Does Ewers play not register at all in this discussion?

I need to see
Conclave

I would really like to see belt to ass Wednesday led by a resurgent quinn

How much better are the Aggies now after all the new WR they have added? Do you think on of Bond or Golden return? How many OL are back from this years top starting 4? What does the staff think behind the scenes about the RB spot for next year?
a. I think they are probably an 8 win team.
b. Not sure on either. Can see both sides.
c. Possibly only Campbell.
d. They'd like a difference maker to pop out of nowhere, but they like this group.
