Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Losing the battle, but winning the war?)

You might want to find another metric to use in your quarterback analysis. You have Georgia’s quarterback (Beck) with a rating of 106.5 in the first quarter of yesterday’s game. Georgia had NINE yards of offense in the first quarter!

Watching some interviews with the players you can tell this game stung extra. I know they’re resilient, but I’m hoping they have the, “put it behind me” mentality.
Good time for a week off.

Georgia's win over us in the SECCG took a heavy toll them. Beck is likely done for the season and I think Georgia's all world punter is out for rest of the season too.

The Georgia that is going to play in the CFP will be far from the team that we played.
Unless Stockton is an upgrade in three weeks time.

Know better than Sark? You're taking the wrong position. The data doesn't lie. Neither does the eye test. Yes, Sark is the coach and yes, he makes $10M. Good observation. That doesn't change the fact that QB play needs to be better. But so does coaching. Not being prepared for the fake punt was astonishing. Allowing a rushing TD in OT with a gimpy Beck at QB was also poor coaching. No one is placing ALL the blame on Quinn. But his play is definitely part of the problem.
Sorry, re-read it. Ketch said point blank the wrong QB was playing. Obviously that is in disagreement with the head coach at Texas.

1) Gilbeau blocks on that int Texas wins and it’s all moot. 2) I agree the running game being bad outs all the pressure on the passing game. Line, WR’s , QB all while the defense is pretty comfortable keying the pass. 3) I think it’s unrealistic as the competition increases the run game is gonna get much better. Hope I’m wrong
How many times in Guilbeau's life has he made a key block on a play like that?

6 dropped passes, including a TD, 31 yards rushing, 6 sacks, a billion hurries because the OL sucked, especially against pressure, 11 penalties, 2 missed FGs. Threw for 358 and was the only reason they were able to move the ball at all.

Yeah, it was Quinn’s fault. F’ing ridiculous take.
He said none of the offense played well. He didn’t say it was Quinn’s fault. He simply said his overall play wasn’t good enough. Both can be true

Well, 20% of OB and Ketch believe they know better than Sark. Blows my mind. But I do at least understand Ketchs position, he gets paid when people want to argue on OB and/or pretend they know better than the Coach making $10m.

I find it fascinating that you think I just want to create an argument.

We will never know but obviously Sark wants Quinn to be the starter. I'm not convinced it's because he's clearly better than Arch, but it's all speculation on that front.

Ketch, thanks for telling it like it is, regarding Quinn. As you stated, he simply has to be better if the Horns are to have any chance at all. It is not pants pissing to express frustration with Quinn's bewildering inconsistency. He has had three years to get it right. He needs to "up his game".
He's actually been very consistent...

You keep writing QB #'s and leaving out 6 or 7 drops. 1 of which cause and interception. 31 rushing yards. 6 or 7 sacks. 12 penalties for 94 yards. How does that corelate in your QB #'s? If it doesn't, then your whole QB system is flawed.

I refuse to engage really. I’ll wait for the Post Season and won’t complain but from day one I have felt we compromised and I won’t play that other than hoping we win. That doesn’t mean I pay attention really. I’,m in NYC and my bro is like “I got Texas UCONN on “ and I’m meh because I just have no trust in RT
Understood.

Good write up Ketch. We have to be able to run the all better so we aren't one dimensional. When you become predictable on offense. It makes your QB average unless the QB is a dual threat which QE isn't.
Texas isn't scoring points, even when it does run the ball well.

Agreed completely, speculation and I trust the guy that turned around this program from the last 14 disappointing years.

absolutely...GS got thrown to the wolves when he was nowhere near ready in NY...is there a parallel quite like his where a high pick is a bust & after kicking around for years gets another shot in his 30's & balls out ?

.
Steve Young?

All correct down to Scattershooting. Did not grade that.

I am a fan of Tre Wisner, but your comment that we need a stud back from the portal is right on. I watched some film of Ricky running for the Heisman. His legs and even his arms were like tree trunks. Ungodly strong. We have no one even approaching that level of ability on campus. Actually, no one does.
This team wins if Brooks is still on this team and healthy.

RT is who many of us thought he was. I’m old enough to remember Dickie V foaming at the mouth telling us we had to hire him. What must be done eventually should be done now.

I have zero idea who that actor is but I don’t watch modern movies.
a. Vitale is pretty silent these days.

b. He's a good one. I think he's gonna be an all-time great. Plus, he's good people.

Saban was right in that the committee could have avoided this issue altogether if they would have ranked the teams correctly from the jump based on strength of schedule. Nothing in their SOS said they should have ever been 8th to begin with, then you don’t have the problem of dropping them out when they lose to Clemson.
Bingo.

It wasn't any one player's fault.

He needs to play better.

Don't gaslight me. Come on.
