Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Out of things to bitch about, practice notes, Stallone)

You did. I meant to write a special mention because of the sudden HC availability and forgot to go back and do it.
See? There’s the next thing to bitch about! No matter who we hire to replace Eddie Reese, it will be CDC’s first downgrade. You can’t beat the incomparable GOAT coach at Texas.
I know you like your Philly teams but look West and see what Chris Paul is doing in Phoenix. That’s a team whose fans have suffered a long time. I should know because I can remember having to draft Neil Walk instead of Lew Alcindor.

Second-year center Jake Majors was described as a player that gets better every single day. If there's a slight concern from digging around this weekend, I'd say the lack of concrete buzz coming along the offensive line is concerning. When I asked one source this weekend if there was anyone from that group that has surprised in a good way, the source said, "Not really." Depth remains a major concern. "I think this is the area of the team that needs some help from transfers if it can happen."

Overall, the defensive line and the secondary were the two area on the team was were described as the best-performing parts of the team from the last week. Overall, the defensive backs might be the group that had the best week since the return of workouts this week.

So, our best two performing units (defensive line and DBs) are the units the line up opposite the side of the ball that performed the worse last week (offensive line and WRs).

Either we have an elite defensive line and DB unit or our offensive line and WR really suck.

How in the hell is Rocky II not even on the list?! It’s the best in the franchise .

Great write up. Our programs are riding high now and, perhaps the best success story is Rowing. It is another example of what you can do at The University of Texas if you just hire a great coach. We have all of the other ingredients in every sport we compete in, just add the coach and we can be very highly ranked and compete for National Championships. Here are the current rankings for Rowing as of 3/31.

Thanks Ketch. I love where the UT athletics department is right now. Football & basketball are in an upward trajectory. As for Sly I would take Creed & First Blood 2 out & add Cliffhanger & The Expendables. The Expendables was a fun throwback to 80’s camp action flicks. I can’t argue with your #1.

Nice column. Totally disagree that Augie was better than Gus. Cliff's teams won a far higher percentage of their games.

Cliff's teams won 22 SWC championships in the 29 years he coached at Texas.

I am of the opinion AL is only why they are who they are due to an incredible focus on OL. What specifically makes you think our OL class will be a monster? I will officially drink the kool aid once I am convinced our OL will be tops in the conference.

LOL CDC killing two birds with one stone.

1) Putting in his CONCUR expense receipt attachment
2) dragging his Twitter junk all over Tceh’s face

ok. Enough Cool Aid for today. Augie by a mile.

Still slightly concerned about the OL. The previous staff’s inability to recruit the line (on both sides) is just mind bottling. Hoping Sark can find some big uglies in the portal

I used to be a BIG Suns fan. Long time ago since those Barkley/KJ teams.

So spot on with Rocky IV in the top spot. I watch it EVERY DAMN TIME it comes on. My kids know it by heart. Hearts on Fire by John Cafferty, Theres No Easy Way Out...bad ass soundtrack. And beating the Ruusians... it was hands down, the best!

Gus wasn't what Augie was when Augie was hired.

@ Ketchum, I like the article. Good write up. While I agree that CDC has made good hires in Vic and Beard, I still have a hard time giving him credit for Sark. I don’t think that gets done without a big push from Eltife. I think they put on the unified front and they got the right guy, but if it was solely up to CDC I don’t know that Herman is gone. All things considered I think he has done more right than wrong, but I want to see continued success before I am completely sold.

Good column and McFlex is fun. I can’t imagine being a fan/alum when your GOAT coach is lured away at meeting in the Plainview MICKEY and THEN the UT President sticks your face in it.
