Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Sark Might Just Be Mack 2.0)

... I didn't watch a single second of the NBA on Christmas Day. In fact, I spent most of the day in a house where there was no NFL on TV. I definitely had the itch.
I had courtside seats to the Nuggets-Suns game in Denver... that whole event was totally off the charts.

It's icky that there's an active player on the roster that was arrested in June for roughly the same type of crime that Beard has been charged with and the university decided it was okay that he could play before the situation was resolved
This honestly really bothers me that Artero Morris keeps getting dragged back into this with the Beard situation. I get the university’s handling of it creating this view but it’s absurd to conflate the actions of a teenager (charged with a misdemeanor) with the actions of a grown man (facing felony charges). They don’t deserve to be viewed through the same lens.

Ketch! Has the WR that you said wanted to come to Texas behind the scenes declared for the portal? If not any updates?

He is not what he was. He was a practicing alcoholic and now he is a recovering alcoholic.

He doesn't have 10 years as a head coach. Give him the full 10 years before saying he is what he is.
Totally agree

"Unfair talk of body language and dropped passes"---BALONEY! Just because I hope that Worthy returns and has a great year DOES NOT mean he should not be accountable for his play in 2022---which includes way too many plays reflecting bad effort and bad body language and way too many dropped passes. Poor take, Ketch!

@Ketchum Great write up.

2002

No. 1 Vince Young
No. 13 Rod Wright
No. 15 Justin Blalock
No. 23 Marquis Johnson
No. 35 Edorian McCullough
No. 38 Bryan Pickryl
No. 53 Aaron Harris

2023

No. 1 Arch Manning
No. 15 Anthony Hills
No. 30 Johntay Cook
No. 32 Cedric Baxter
No. 34 Malik Muhammad
No. 40 Colton Vasek
No. 49 Derek Williams

Been awhile but through some unfortunate circumstances Johnson, McCullough, and Pickett didn’t factor into the Horns success - correct? I say that only to think the 2023 class could have a bigger impact overall. It could all come down to Vince vs Arch.

It may not be as vocally dynamic or ambitious but Buckley’s cover of Dylan’s “Mama You’ve Been On My Mind” is so good

I’m a Buckley mark. Thanks for that. It’s the best Hallelujah ever done. The mixture of emotion, softness and power in that song is unmatched. Very few humans could really pull that off. Also huge on Last Goodbye. I share the same feelings about not seeing him in person. It’s one of the musical voids of my life and I’m a big music person.

Stoked about the Worthy decision. However, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to own some of his play and it’s totally fair to say that. He definitely didn’t finish some plays this year and it was painfully obvious. It’s not like people here didn’t like him or were looking for reasons to attack him or want him to fail, it’s just we all saw the same shit. Sometimes shit is just shit, regardless of why you stepped in it. It’s his time to show real leadership. We shall see but I’d much rather have him then not have him and I’m excited to see what he can do next year.

Do you still see Texas as the favorite in this game after all the announcements?

We all know what’s going to happen with the Cowboys right?

I told you to quit fantasy years ago. I’ve still never missed it once.

This Beard situation just needs to be over. There’s only one answer if we are being real. Period.

AD Mitchell from Georgia is the receiver I’m keeping an eye on for the portal. He has the the size to fit the X receiver role Texas needs to fill, he produced as a freshman on a championship Georgia team, he’s from Texas, he spent most of this season out with an ankle injury which could have put him in a head space where he wished he was closer to home and family, and Georgia just took 2 top portal receivers when they only have 1 senior leaving from their depth chart.

I don't really care if she left a mark.

That isn't an excuse for terrible behavior. You simply cannot engage in that behavior.
Can you explain why so much of the fanbase is completely irrational in their defense of Beard and willingness to reinstate him as our coach based on the weakest attempt to exonerate someone I have ever seen?

I want to buy that Ewers is going to work his ass off on technique, film study, playbook, and just run away with the damn thing.

We just don’t know if it will happen. With VY you knew he was going to do what it took to be great almost from the day he stepped on campus.

I’ll be pulling for QE and I want to believe. I really don’t want to watch another first year quarterback in 2023.
I feel the exact same way. Any logical thought process would follow this strategy

Bobby's Dream. They seem to think they're going to wake up and find the whole thing never happened.
The list of conspiracies keeps growing...

-Beard didn't hit her, he hit his daughter's boyfriend!
-Beard has an audio tape that will completely exonerate him!
-See, she says he did it in self defense.... well, she at least says she doesn't refute his claim!

It's pretty sad what people will convince themselves of.

Sark is almost a decade in as a HC. I think he kind of is what he is.
Ketch, with great respect and considering his well-documented and very public battle with addiction during his time at both UW and USC, don't you think it's a bit unfair (or even, somewhat premature) to make such a casual assertion about Sark's overall quality/competency as a head football coach at the D1 level?

I mean, the difference in his personal ability to maintain focus; to remain disciplined and consistent in all phases of running a program; and to make thoughtful and timely decisions (even in-game!) amid total chaos between then and now must be like night and day.

As he now seems much more comfortable in his new skin and routine, I think that Sark is now only beginning to scratch the surface of his true potential as a head coach and leader. Hook'em

Dak would be scared to face the Buc's. Brady would syche him out.
If Dallas can't scheme to defeat TB with his O-line, then quit the NFL and join the YMCA league

Patience isn't exactly a popular word for a fan base that has been in the doldrums for more than a decade, but there's very much a plan that is unfolding that is easy to understand.

There were several (too many) games this and last year UT should have won.

B/S: Quinn realizes who’s coming in January and that will lead him to work and study his tail off this spring…

Tomorrow night should give an early clue. I am not optimistic but hope my gut feeling is wrong.
