Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (The Houston vs. Dallas discussion reappears...)

Great column, Ketch. Lots of feel good but Witten's tribute took the cake for me.
Those two have been together for a LONG time. People forget that it was Witten that was with Romo in Cabo that weekend before the Giants game in January of 2008.

I thought about buying the UFC match. Ended up passing and I am glad I did. But I have to say the prelims were fun to watch!

Ketch, I submitted this one late yesterday, but genuinely curious to hear what you think...

B/S: Casey Thompson commits to Texas before the Spring Game and we are happy about nabbing him over our other targets?

He looks like a pretty nice prospect, but so does Rogers, et al.

Thoughts?

Of course.

I'd love to have you explain it to me. Lay it out for the dumb guy.

To me it is about the current regime having information more on lock down and not letting information get out and having stuff that does get out be more realistic related to expectations rather than expectations and information that is unrealistic. I don't think it is any breaking news that leaks are much harder to come by now than they ever have been in the internet era.

The reason why there's no hyperbole is that the quarterbacks haven't yet given a reason for it. Buechele has been solid.
When did Tyronne give reason for it?

Speaking of, has anyone heard anything of his attempted move to TE for the draft? Did UT have a pro day he performed at?

If Texas wants more people, quit having it on Easter weekend.

Bama could have it on Christmas Day and they would show up. Have Santa Claus there taking photos at every gate with those stupid hats and it would be the biggest event ever in that state. Folks in Texas just have other things to do.

- Considering your wife is from Houston, there is no way you could say Dallas is better. Jokes aside, is it too early for the avalanche gif? ;)

- When you said Mike Williams, my first thought was the former USC receiver. Glad I kept reading.

- Zaire will have an interesting decision to make. Doesn't look like he'll be guaranteed a starting spot at Florida or Texas.

- I agree with you. If Texas is successful this year, Connor Williams will not be the only person turning pro after this season. WalterFootball has Malik down as a top 10 pick

- I think you rewatch the spring game twice before next week's column.

Buy.

I don't see the option that would cause you to pause on wanting his commitment. Hell, I think they need two in this class, anyways.

That's just a dream that Texas fans think every time there's a new coach. Folks did the same thing when Charlie took over.

Herman hates leaks, but that doesn't mean we haven't spoken with people (plural) at all levels that have seen practice, usually on a daily basis.

a. Tyrone would occasionally cause people to get excited. Hell, the head coach that couldn't remember his name in a deposition was among them last fall.

b. He's probably going to camp with someone. Needs to make a practice squad and could do so, IMO.

especially in Austin.

a. I'm probably going to have to move to Houston eventually.

b. Dudes named Mike Williams grow on trees. Texas had a basketball player from Alabama named Mike Williams as well.

c. So, Wisconsin?

d. I think Malik turns pro after this season.

So are you saying that leaks are not as few and far between with Herman compared to Mack and Strong? You said it yourself that he hates leaks. There will be some yes but they are clearly harder to come by. Are you disagreeing?

@Ketchum explain Draymond over Kawhi.
Kawhi hasn't been the usual monster this season on the defensive end, which is definitely connected to him taking on more of an offensive role.

Draymond is the best defender on the best team with the best defensive rating. He can guard everyone and the metrics say he's been awesome.

Kind of yeah. Info hasn't been impossible to come by. I think practices have generally been more open than they were under Strong. I know a lot of people that have seen practices in the last month.

Is there a site or media outlet that has described the quarterback play better than solid all spring? You don't think that everyone is locked out for info, do you?

Just know, if I felt the other way, I'd just tell you. No reason not to.

The new staff is hardly effusive in their praise for anyone. I figured that was clearly obvious. My bad. The fact Swoopes was brought up to the effect of proving a previous QB "earned" hyperbole is all you need about how much stock to put into what that staff said. I mean, that was still the staff that infamously put out the "not even close" 9 months ago. Dare I explain more? Some of ya'll are far too doubtful of Buechele. For somewhat bizarre reasons.

You could do your job from Houston. There are two Plucker's in Houston, so you're good.

There was a Mike Williams who was a Bucs receiver. Definitely a common sports name.

I agree with you. I think Malik hits the road after this year. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least three juniors declare (no clue who the third might be right now).

Before the DE Mike Williams there was AA OT Mike Williams.

lulz. k.

FYI, I don't think anyone was talking about the staff's "praise" as being a central talking point in the discussion that was taking place.

lulz. Apparently you fail to recall how this conversation started. How 'bout we just ended it simply like this. You have little to no faith in Buechele. I do. I like my chances.

a. No, it started with the poster suggesting that it was harder to get info on the team because the current staff has made it harder to get information, that their will to control info was winning the day.

b. I don't lack faith in Buechele. That's something you've invented in your head. I've said time and time again that I believe he has a very high ceiling as a player, only that I'm not sure if he's ready to start getting close to it this season, although I haven't shut a door on it happening.

Is this the real RLong68? Have the real person been kidnapped?

There was also Mike Williams the WR from USC, whom Detroit drafted.

Also, I knew a Mike Williams in 2nd grade at Bell Manor Elementary School who used to eat paste and fall asleep leaving a pool of drool on his trapper keeper. I don't think he ended up playing for USC though. Was the USC Mike Williams really short, pudgy and white?

There was also the Mike Williams who worked at the Denny's and might've played high school football in Wyoming.

I might've made that up, but you can't prove i didn't.
