Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (The three things Texas needs from Shane Buechele..)

Can someone explain the Barca comments a little further for those of us who don't follow the sport as closely?

Thanks
A list might help.

1. Barca is known for its ability to basically do what it pleases, when it pleases and with whom it pleases. It can use questionable tactics sketchy tactics because at the end of the day, it's barca and there usually are not any pieces in place that can stop them.

2. Well, PSG kind of did to Barca what it does to everyone else.

3. Ironically, despite all of it's Neymar money to spend (in theory), it hasn't found the marketplace ripe because teams are not bending over for them, regardless of the tactics it tries to use. There's been some dirty stuff going on behind the scenes, pushed forward with Barca's planning, but it hasn't opened the doors for a deal. Quite the contrary, actually.

4. Not knowing how to react to teams not willing to be bullied, Barca issued a threat over the weekend that it would pull an offer that was rejected in five seconds if Liverpool didn't change it's mind by a Sunday deadline.

5. That deadline passed without Liverpool so much as responding to it.

Thanks... what does "an offer" mean in number 4? An offer to buy another player's contract?

One thing that fails to get mentioned enough when discussing Shane's poor late season performances was the predictability of the play calling from Sterlin. My friends and I could predict almost every play call, it was that bad. Kansas DB's were sitting on the routes. No adjustments made. Shane was hurt immensely by this.

@Ketchum, Herman ain't gonna be the bitch of any of the Jones family. Mark that down and etch it in stone.

And I'm a Cowboys fan. Not gonna happen though
This is the exact reason I don't see Herman to Cowboys. I think the timing was perfect for Herman to tell the Texas Brass, "If I come to Texas, here's my list of changes and things I want done and money I want spent to do it with..."

That ain't happening with Jerry because I would imagine Herman's first demand would be locking every Jones out of the draft war room.

I have mentioned the questionable coaching and lack of trust it had in Shane quite a bit. The coaches played with Shane as if they were scared to let him open things up.

It was just a wisecrack of sorts. I didn't mean it.

On Buechele I thought he played very well against OU last year as a true frosh... he needs to do better against the Kansas' of the world to become a game changer. You have to win those games as a no brainer.
I already had that argument with Ketchum a few months ago. I think he forgot that Texas scored about 35 points in that game, and a lot of it was due to the quarterback.

There's just not enough data in the world I could have that would convince some of you.

I'm trying to stay away from second week proclamations after they have failed the last two seasons. United looks great, though. Martial emerging is a big deal.
Smart move. Martial showing up, Pogba looking to really hit his stride, Lukaku playing better than many assumed, Matic unlocking the whole scheme....#feelsgood

I'd love to see them play someone with a pulse in the first two months of the season.

Meh, they consistently drew against teams like WH and Swansea last season....looks like that will no longer be the case. All they can do is whip the teams in front of them.

How many sources does one need to know Elliott/Jones will be a massive upgrade over Haines/Hall. I'm sure it's cute to say light bulbs have come on, but the simple reality is that Jones/Elliott are simply a far superior athletic playmaking duo. Said before but worth saying again, they will be our best safety duo since '05.
Maybe it didn't need to be said, but it sure was nice to hear :)

wow, Herman to the Cowboys, as a relatively new OB member I'll assume you're letting your imagination run a little wild, at this point.

Glad that statement is not under little birdie section.

Sounds like the consensus is our team can beat any team on our schedule, and 8 wins is the floor.

I predict at least 10 wins simply based on some theory that we finally catch a few breaks this year in terms of wins.
Just ignore about 80% of what he writes and you'll be good.

35 points is 35 points. If Texas had played a lick of defense in that game it would have been a victory over a highly ranked team with a true freshman quarterback.

Based on that I really don't need to hear your data points.

Not all thirty-five point games are the same.

Mind you, by saying someone wasn't good, it doesn't translate to thinking they were terrible.

There were times, such as against Oklahoma, when he was just ok, which isn't a horrible indictment.

I don't really get into the soccer discussion, and the GoT stuff is pretty good. But I have to say my favorite part of TTFTW is the comments.

Page 1 is mostly people trying to be first or second at the top and then a few initial reactions. Maybe a comment about a spelling or grammatical error.
Page 2 is when the Ketch haters come out to play and start bringing up what they view as either inconsistencies in reporting or thinly-veiled attempts to control a narrative and push a hidden agenda.
The bottom half of 2 and top of Page 3 is when Ketch starts hammering back defending his opinions about writing and reporting. He usually doesn't start to take it personally until the end of Page 3. Sidenote: I usually write my first inane comment near the end of Page 3.
Page 4 is a mixture of people who are just now starting to read the post and comment and the cross examination to Ketch's defense statements.
Usually Page 5 will start with someone, who is hopelessly late to the party, who re-asks a question, or re-states an observation that has already been addressed 15-18 times. Also, this is when either people get bored and the thread mostly dies OR a very personal and heated debate between Ketch and someone really takes hold. This is when it's handy to have popcorn.

Then two days later Anwar will write something and everyone gushes about how they love his reporting. And repeat.

Great stuff, I freaking love it!

That was worth me making it to the last page of comments. Made me laugh so hard my wife came to check on me. Oh and pretty damn accurate as well!
