Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (What happens next will define Sark's 3-year tenure)

Wow, wasn't expecting that!

I can EASILY rewatch The Aviator. Can’t say the same for Wolf of Wall Street which is over the top and exhausting. Plus I’m a sucker for movies showing old Hollywood

The secret for beating the 3-3-5 defense is a mobile QB. Dual threat QBs force the defenders to freeze. Quinn and Maalik aren't mobile enough to respect the run option, but Arch is.

Mannings didn’t send Arch to Texas to run the ball as a big part of the offense

Isn't the over the top part of WOWS the thing that makes it what it is?

Sure. But it doesn’t make it appeal a ton to me. I don’t dislike it. Just find the Aviator MUCH more appealing

I appreciate everything you have said, but my complaint with Sark is that he continually takes the conservative route when he gets an early lead. He has NEVER shown that killer instinct that so many great coaches exhibit. As far as the three turnovers and running into the punter goes, those are just as much a coaching failure as they are a player failure. Discipline and ball security are something great coaches drill into their players, and hold them accountable. When I referred to Houston getting screwed I was obviously referring to the horrendous spotting of the ball on the third down run. Their fourth down call was a gift from Holgerson. I am certainly not advocating firing Sark, just that until he proves he doesn’t buckle under pressure, like he has on numerous occasions and starts living his “all gas, no brakes” motto, he’s just another coach.
Respectfully disagree on the turnovers, at least in this game. Those passes Ewers had intercepted were him not cosching.
His fumble wasn’t coaching. I agree in that fumbles often can be attributed to coaching and perhaps some on INT’s but his three turnovers weren’t coaching…the running into the punter - even that’s 50/50.
So my point still stands we’re talking about a team that has one loss and is a few turnovers from being undefeated…yet still #7 in the country and a trajectory over the past 2 1/2 years that is extremely encouraging. He’s not just “another coach.”

Trust me - I’m not some homer.
I have areas of critique of Sark but overall I think he’s a great coach, an excellent recruiter and I still feel extremely confident he’ll end up being one of if not the best QB developers in college….and with that reputation, our floor will be at a level haven’t seen since Mack’s glory days and our ceiling is through the roof.

Sark has shown strides and continues to do so. That’s the most important fact.

Great 10 thoughts we need whoever plays QB to do the job
I am confused about Sark saying they changed the defense I mean we scored 21 points on 3 straight drives did they change after the 3rd TD.
I really thought we were on our way to a 40 point win then something just happened not sure if it was coaching or the players but wow we just stopped playing after the 1st Q
Your movie list was great I mean Goodfella's is a no doubt top 5 all time movie

10. The Aviator

I'm going to guess that I'm the only one that will slot this into the top 10, but I totally dig this movie about Howard Hughes. Leo is fantastic and Cate Blanchett is must-see as Katherine Hepburn. It's a haunting profile of an American original.

9. The King of Comedy

Do I have this one underrated? It's been years since I've seen it. Maybe a rewatch is needed this week.

8. Casino

Sharon Stone might give the best female performance that you'll find in any Scorsese movie. It's not Goodfellas, but it's closer than many will admit.

7. Raging Bull

I suppose it has to make the list, but I think I'd rather just watch The Color of Money and it didn't even crack the Top 15.

6. Mean Streets

This is another one that I haven't seen in years and need to mix in a rewatch with.

5. Gangs of New York

I don't care what any of you say, I love this movie. It's DDL at his absolute best and the film is freaking entertaining, while showcasing a period of American history that is largely forgotten.

4. The Departed

It's a Hall of fame movie with a Hall of Fame cast.

3. The Wolf of Wall Street

Is this the movie with the single most re-watchable scenes? Maaaaaybe.

2. Taxi Driver

You talking to me?

1. Goodfellas
I love the Aviator as well. And you have Casino too low. I would also flip The Departed and TWofWS. Great list though.
