In SLC related news concerning the virus Rudy Gorbert of the Utah Jazz has tested positive for the virus. And the Mormon general conference a semi annual affair which occurs the 1st weekend of April has been closed to the public. Mormons from all over the world attend this conference. It will be broadcast on tv but that's it. And in Placer County where I live there have been 2 reported cases and more and more schools have been closed.

This is getting worse and worse.

The time to close schools is now. Just look at Italy to see how bad it can get without mandatory social distancing.

If you live your life in Fear then what kind of Life do you have? The Book of Revelations predicted this along with Floods, Fire, Earthquakes...etc Just maybe the Horsemen are starting to run? At any rate all you can do is take precautions and ride it out till they get a Vaccine, what else can ya do?

If ya playing the Stocks, then ya should buried ya money in the back yard.....

For how long? According to some this thing might stay around a while. At what point do you accept that it is now part of the world and you can't close everything down every time someone catches it. You shut everything down and the virus seems to slow down so you then open everything back up. Then the virus comes back. Do you shut everything down again? A vaccine isn't the answer because it will not stop it either. The flu has a vaccine and millions of people still get it. Eventually this virus will be a common thing like the flu that people get and the world will keep moving. For now I think it does make sense to slow the spread but eventually you have to face the music.

Cool. Remember when the POTUS said it would go away in a few days and it was all a Democratic hoax? He also said we had millions of tests ready.

One of these men is currently in charge of the world's superpower and the other is running for office.
And one of them will continue to be YOUR President for the next 4 years, cupcake. Now, since you don’t like responding to my posts asking for raw data comparing the Coronavirus to swine flu or the real flu because it skews your agenda maybe you should jump over and start worrying about oil prices. I seem to recall you were having problems when it was 50+ a barrel.i can’t wait to hear how your boss on the rig, the tool pusher, responds when you tell him you need to wash your hands every 20 minutes. I have a feeling you’re the cause of your own problems in the oilfield.

Exactly. If the US shuts down every time a new bug comes out from the dog eaters then we’re going to be in a world of hurt.

The idea is to prevent the medical system from getting overwhelmed. Flattening the curve is a phrase to become familiar with.

Look at South Korea mortality rate versus Italy. A country that takes drastic measures has 1% or less. A country that doesn't is close to 5%.

That's millions of lives.

The Asian countries are doing well because they got hit hard by SARS. They know the price you pay for not taking these things seriously.

Don't forget people will still need surgeries, have accidents, have heart attacks, get sick from the flu, etc.

With an overwhelmed system, they may not get any medical attention.

I understand that, but they closed the entire Houston Rodeo because one person tested positive that went to the cook off. At some point this insanity has to stop. For now try to slow it but you cannot cancel everything every time someone contracts it. That will cripple the world and you will have bigger problems than this virus. No one will make money! If you think socialism will take care of everyone then you are out of touch.

Americans have an independent streak. The guys I work around will never wear a mask around. The Asians have an affinity for being dominated. We don't. It may get ugly here at the hospitals but we'll get it together without being whipped by xi. Eighty percent of the cases are mild. Calm the **** down. The biggest problem we have is our central bank and its greed. End the Fed.

It will greatly diminish in the heat of our summer. It will buy us time. It's going to be 90 degrees here today. It's going to have a harder time spreading til next winter. The temps don't drop below 90 til Halloween. However, we do have an abundance of dumbasses in our country. Most are democrat voters. You know, the ones with their hands out. If we didn't have billions dedicated to a generous welfare state, we could have more money for the response.

I saw the interview on TV and Trump never said what you have purported. The typically liberal, Trump hating media twisted and cut his words to make it sound like he said that. Trump could literally singlehandedly cure cancer, the corona virus, hand each American a million dollars, etc. and his haters will always find reasons to criticize him.

Where’d you get that information from that it will slow or die when summer hits? Good read but that lady and article are basically saying stay at home avoid large crowds. Don’t panic but take it serious.

I stopped riding the bus into work. Avoiding the tunnels and brought my own lunch. Pending a approval to work from home. Not panicking just don’t want this shit and people tend to ignore their sickness and spray that crap all over desks, door handles and anything they touch. Don’t be so hard headed but don’t go into panic mode either.

Wash your hands with soap and hot water. Don't pick your nose or fart in public. I know it's hard to resist. You'll be ok. This is a man-made panic. Take notes, they are fascinating to witness. Once you beat the illness, you'll be imune. If you are healthy, it's no more than a head cold. See my related attachments.

I gave you all the information. Literally White House Transcripts. You continue to hide your head in the sand.

Guess you are always going to excuse his ineffectiveness because you've hitched your wagon to his and admitting you were wrong is harder than ignoring the truth.

If Trump had taken this seriously, it would have been a HUGE boost to him. He would have been lauded in history books for appropriate response to a pandemic. But he didn't and we are being reactive instead of proactive.

And another.... some people are such pussies...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/dont-panic-says-us-woman-recovered-coronavirus-055155667.html

She had a bit of a fever and a headache. I have worse symptoms when we lose to ou. Stand the **** up, put your belt on, pull up your pants, and stop being a bitch. No reason to hide.

You are too simple to reason with. I only continue responding to you because you continue to share misinformation.

This is not a humanity ending plague. Nobody has ever said that it is the zombie apocalypse. This is serious because it can overwhelm the healthcare system if we don't take steps to flatten the curve.

Yes, young and healthy people will recover with little intervention and mild symptoms. Older people and immunocompromised people will not. They will flood the hospitals (as they have in Italy) and it will overwhelm the system. Some of you are fine with that. Some have made references to Darwinism and the strong inheriting the earth. Fine.

But if you get in a car accident, have a heart attack, etc... the hospitals will still be full.

This guy is absolutely full of it. There is NO scientific evidence that the heat will affect COVID19. None. They don't know if it will be seasonal like the cold and flu or not.

He thinks it's a man-made virus that Italy asked China for in order to curb their retirement age population. He's bragged about contracting the virus and going around to spread it to family and friends.

Please do not listen to him. Don't panic, but take it serious. Stay home if possible and avoid large crowds.

Look at the various different responses. Italy and Iran basically ignored it and it blew up. Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan all did aggressive early testing and quarantined individuals who had the virus or who had been in contact and it wasn't too bad. We have had a mish mash of advisories and ineffective testing. It wasn't the CDC who caught the outbreak in Washington. It was researchers on their own time who tested flu samples that came back negative.

Exactly what should Trump have done differently? I seem to remember him shutting down travel from China, passing a bill for 8 billion dollars, and just closed travel from Europe. All this while the scientists are still trying to understand the virus. You can't blame the test kit debacle on him because that was out of his control. They didn't trust or didn't like the WHO tests so decided to develop their own, that came from the CDC and not him. People are criticizing him for stopping travel from Europe but at the same time say he isn't doing enough. That is purely partisan and it sickens me because you can't believe anyone. Do you not understand that he was trying to be proactive but at the same time not create mass panic?

We aren't those countries and neither is Europe. We are different. They are command and control smallish countries. We are large, diverse, and much more independent. I know some here would like a Kim Jung Un response but it's not going to happen. It will take time. Calm down. Your estrogen is showing.

It's a freaking head cold for most people. It's time to throw Corona parties. Everyone gets a head cold and a little drunk.

lol. okay buddy.

Refute it then. You're the one on this thread barking at Trump, providing your own interpretation of a partial quote. You're the one talking about a complete collapse of the medical field. You're the one saying schools should completely shutdown. You're the one calling others out for their opinion on this situation.

I gave my opinion way back at the start of this thread if you're interested.

With all that said, I think you're being a huge tool. Go back and reread your bullshit and tell me you're not being a partisan hack.

Trump slashed the budget for the Pandemic response team. We had two months to get ready for this and we have no testing capability. That is completely on him.

I have given CDC facts, videos, quotes, whitehouse transcripts and statistical data.

You have just called me names.

Trump derangement syndrome on full display. =)roll This thread has been some real comic relief for me. Now if we can keep from bank runs, we'll be ok.

Hmmm...did Congress enact those cuts to the budget and I missed it? If so, then please show me the proposed budget from the House and the vote in the Senate for this new budget.

I'm serious with this. If Congress did in fact enact those budget proposals then show me and I'll apologize.

I'm going to be honest. I don't think you have a freaking clue what the hell you're talking about. I honestly question if you know how our government works.

As far as the "quote" you posted...it didn't line up with what YOU said Trump said. You made an inference. That is a huge difference.

Tell me you're not being partisan. I don't see someone trying to be objective here. I see someone pushing a one sided agenda.

You know what? You are absolutely right and I'm wrong. I got two things confused.

He attempted to cut the CDC budget and was rebuked by congress. He was trying to do it again for a 2021 budget proposal.

What he did was disband the pandemic response team and not replace them. That was a huge vulnerability and is his fault, but he was not able have an effect on their budget.
