A few people in my community had no problem getting tested, and they tested negative. I think you are over blowing the lack of testing like everything else. Yes, I know some have reported that they could not get tested but I don't think that is the norm.

No. CDC and the expert in charge have already admitted they are failing at tests. There is absolutely zero argument about this from reasonable people.

Just this morning, Trump is starting to blame CDC and Obama. Reasonable people will see that as a desperate partisan lunge.

He has tried to gut CDC budget and disbanded the pandemic response team that Obama created in response to swine flu and SARS.

The media would like everyone to believe that and plasters anything negative all over the TV, but in the real world it is not that bad. Dr. Fauci said it is a failing because the American health system is not set up to do what other countries are doing. It doesn't matter what president is in office, it would be the same outcome because our system does not hand out tests without a Dr. recommendation. If you are sick, call your Dr. and you can get tested if your Dr. believes you need to be. I know for a fact that it is happening because I know people who have done it.

Also, some authority from Ohio said that she believes 100,000 are infected in Cleveland but they don't know about them because they have no symptoms or they are very mild. What do you think her motive for that statement was?

Re: Ohio

I think they are trying to get people to realize they could be sick and unintentionally spreading it to the vulnerable. They don't have enough tests to get an accurate number, so they are giving a best estimate based on the information they do have. There are orders of magnitude between confirmed cases and actual cases.

Re: tests

If you have anecdotes, there's no way for me to dispute them. Will I can say is we are way behind on testing compared to the Nations that have better control over this.

You must be posting between shifts at McDonalds because I KNOW you’re not still finding employment in the oil field.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing-in-us.html

Here is the Testing data. We haven't hit 1500 test a day yet. Lack of test availability is a big issue.

It is very hard to obtain a test. If someone tells you that they are lying.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/hcp/clinical-criteria.html

The only people who can get a test are
  1. Hospitalized patients who have signs and symptoms compatible with COVID-19 in order to inform decisions related to infection control.
  2. Other symptomatic individuals such as, older adults and individuals with chronic medical conditions and/or an immunocompromised state that may put them at higher risk for poor outcomes (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, receiving immunosuppressive medications, chronic lung disease, chronic kidney disease).
  3. Any persons including healthcare personnel, who within 14 days of symptom onset had close contact with a suspect or laboratory-confirmed4 COVID-19 patient, or who have a history of travel from affected geographic areas5 (see below) within 14 days of their symptom onset.
There are nursing homes in many states with a backlog of residents that need to get tested even though they are in category 2

Show me a respiratory virus that doesn't go dormant in warm weather? Just one.

Singapore is a tropical country. They have cases there. Brazil, Argentina, and Australia are in summer and they are having cases there. At this point we don't know if its community spread or from international travel but the possibility exists that warmer summer weather won't slow down the virus. Its still to early to know for sure.

If I run out of TP, I'll take a dump in a liberal relative's yard and use the hose as a bidet. Any leftovers get rubbed in the yard doggie style til they give me some.

So where are the thousands of people needing to be hospitalized? What is the death rate when you calculate the extra 100,000 into the equation.

It takes 5 days to show symptoms. It takes longer to get to the point where you require hospitalization. Shutting down social gatherings is a way to limit their exposure and flatten the curve of hospital admittance.

We should expect a huge uptick in admittance to hospitals if it gets spread to the elderly with no measures. If we do everything right, we won't see hospitals get overwhelmed like Italy but will still see a steady stream of people coming in.

Abbot just declared state of disaster. Mayors and governors have stepped up in the absence of federal leadership. You can say that's a good thing or bad thing and I won't argue that. But we have to take this seriously to avoid becoming Italy 2.0.

We got a mega church down here and everybody drives BMW and Mercedes and Corvettes and the Pastor has his own Limo. Praise Jesus! It cost ya 2 Hun to get into the Prayer Closet and get his undivided attention...and 2 quarters to open the door in the bathroom to shit , Praise Jesus! They raise the roof twice a week to pay the Pastor Mortage on his Million dollar home with pool.

I guess Trump imposing a travel ban way ahead of this thing doesn't register with your liberal agenda. That alone has helped tremendously to limit the spread of the virus. If he had not been way ahead of the curve, things would be much, much worse in America now, yet you can't/won't give him credit for that. Trump has a press conference this afternoon to declare a national emergency, which will provide billions of dollars to help. To say that there is a lack of federal leadership now is just a flat out lie, but hey, your boys Obama and Biden sure did handle the H1N1 effectively. It took Obama six months to declare a national emergency.

Fenves wife has Covid?

Members of UT President Greg Fenves’ family test positive for novel coronavirus
Fenves has now been tested for the virus and is in self-isolation with his family.

You realize that you have lost the moral right to ban any posters any more for political content?

Lot of these people might have contracted elsewhere.
While data is still scattered and there is more truths to discover, we can only hope that warmer weather will help.

I completely agree that the China 14-day mandated quarantine for travelers was the right call early on. I just wish he did more and didn't constantly down play the importance of the emerging threat. This European ban seems to be limited in effectiveness, as we already have community spread. Will it help? Yes, I believe it will and we need to take any actions that can help.

I'm never going to convince you that Trump can do any wrong. When he comes on TV and says "anybody who wants to get tested can get tested" and the CDC says that's not true, you are going to make an excuse for him. That's fine. You are pot-committed.

Let's just agree that we need to wash our hands and avoid exposing our most vulnerable citizens.

The difference between you an me is I am not a Republican nor will I ever be one. I am a 2nd Amendment advocate and have some very conservative views, but I will never regurgitate Republican BS like you do with the democrats. I have learned that it's important to love your country more than your party.

Meanwhile, they are raping the shelves at HEB...Bread, TP, Meat, Fing Fools! But the Titty bars are up and runnin!

Okay.

Wash your hands! Limit your social interactions! Protect our most vulnerable! Flatten the curve!

And stop hoarding! The world isn't ending!
