Go get him Bo
Looks like Georgia is losing their best DT to the portal. This is a big development.
And we’re hearing that Texas and USC are his top two schools.
Sounds to me like he’s just regurgitating what Ketchum said lol. Cause that’s almost word for word with what he said. Call me crazy but I’m not really into a guy who’s just out chasing money. Give me a guy who eats, breathes, and shits football. I don’t get the drift that’s Bear. If it was he wouldn’t have left Georgia. They have been spitting out first round defensive talent the last 5 years. Not sure why you’d leave that.Update on Bear Alexander:
CTJ on Surly says we're probably not in on Bear Alexander. He is going to be extremely expensive for whoever gets him and we have our hands full with other NIL.
I don't know how reliable he is but people on Surly think highly of CTJ and his sources. However, we're talking about Surly though.
Seems fair to me. We should be able to make that happen. If he doesn't come, it won't be because of money. With Aggy out, it only leaves us and USC based on the schools that have reportedly shown interest. With him being a Texas native, I just don't see him heading west to USC. However, I could be very wrong since we're talking about a 19 year old kid.1.2-1.5 million
I have no clue the money going around to other top DLs/LBs or whoever. But, if that is the going rate for "proven and elite" players then it is difficult to argue against paying the man. A dominant DL can make all of the difference, however, it can also cause some team chemistry issues with the existing players we have-they are no slouches.Seems fair to me. also, if you want players to stay in college longer and not leave to the draft early. Pay them to stay. If other schools are, theirs no reason we shouldn't.I have no clue the money going around to other top DLs/LBs or whoever. Apparently, Bear Alexander was at our spring game yesterday in an unofficial capacity. If that’s true, I say we should in good position for him. He’s from Terrell, Tx and was previously an Aggy commit before flipping to Georgia. Also, SEC rules require that transfers sit out a year if transferring to another SEC school. That pretty much knocks out the Aggies. He’s also close with AD Mitchell. One last nugget is that he was contacted on Twitter by numerous other players around the country. Out of all the tweets, the one from Anthony Hill was the only one he liked. Take that for whatever it’s worth.
I believe he played at like 4 different schools in high school. Freshman year played at Terrell. Sophomore year at Dallas Skyline. Junior year Denton Ryan and senior year IMG. I wonder how much of that his parents though? He was at Denton Ryan with Hill. Tried to transfer to Brewer in White Settlement, UIL said nah, so he went to IMG I think.
Dude doesn't seem to really set roots, just chases the next best thing. Incredible talent though.
He has a guardian (alllegedly).I believe he played at like 4 different schools in high school. Freshman year played at Terrell. Sophomore year at Dallas Skyline. Junior year Denton Ryan and senior year IMG. I wonder how much of that his parents though?
That makes sense. It also makes sense that's he chasing money because he probably grew up dirt poor. Of course that's all just speculation on my part.He has a guardian (alllegedly).

I didn't know where to put this but looks like Casey Thompson is hitting the portal again
He can't play. Nebraska proved that.Remember 2 quarters of football in when we were sorry to let him go…

I remember everybody drooling over that performance he had in the Alamo Bowl against an awful Colorado team.Indeed. I was referencing all the hubbub on here and in the media after his first 2 quarters of football at Neb LOL. Then the 2nd half of that Northwestern game happened.
This tells me that the culture has shifted in the locker room. They are buying whatever Sark is selling. Hopefully that translates to double digit wins this season. So it looks like no new transfers from Texas. That’s a grand total of 3 guys transferring out of Texas this season.
That means we got a team slam full of bought in, ride or die motherfvckers. Hook’em damn Horns baby!
That or they had some NIL opportunities happen to come their way. This tells me that the culture has shifted in the locker room. They are buying whatever Sark is selling. Hopefully that translates to double digit wins this season.
100%. He is a clear #2 right now. This shouldn’t be a popularity contest. The best QB should start. Let Arch wait until he is a junior to start or else transfer. Malik looked like the real deal in the spring game. I am mot saying annoint Malik, but as things stand, this is my current pov.Maalik truly loves Texas, and being a Longhorn. The dude wore burnt orange under his helmet his entire senior year of high school. It’s gonna take a lot for him to leave.
And btw, I’m not convinced Arch ends up beating him out.
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Maalik turns out to be the best of the whole bunch. I worry for Quinn. If he gets hurt, he may never get his job back.100%. He is a clear #2 right now. Arch came to Texas , with no NIL deal, no special perks or anything. Hes staying at Texas. The only thing that MIGHT get him to leave is Sark being fired.I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Maalik turns out to be the best of the whole bunch. I worry for Quinn. Also, Arch may be tough to pry away from Austin as well, even if he can’t beat out Maalik. He’s pretty much a life long Horn fan. There’s video of him as a little kid wearing Texas gear, and saying he wants to go to Texas.
Honestly the ideal situation would be Quinn has a great year and goes pro this offseason. Maalik starts next season and goes to the draft and then Arch would be ready to take the reigns in 2025 as a redshirt sophomore. Don't think it would happen like that but it would be nice. Then each QB would have 2 full seasons in the system before they were thrown into the fire as a starter.Maalik truly loves Texas, and being a Longhorn. Maalik is not an athletic QB like that. He's strictly a pocket passer and does not have much scrambling ability.I think Maalik gets even better when he’s playing without a non contact jersey and is able to use his athleticism outside the pocket. 6’5” / 240 lbs worth of QB coming around the corner after the pocket breaks down.
Yeah Maalik is probably the least mobile QB on the roster.Maalik is not an athletic QB like that. He's strictly a pocket passer and does not have much scrambling ability.
