There is only one thing that will kill the Big 12.

Who the fvck is they? RJ Young?

Lincoln Riley inherited a program that went 11-2 the year before he took over and finished #5 in the AP. Texas didn't win 11 games in the 2 seasons prior to
Tom Herman's arrival combined.

The fact is that your team is going to roll into Dallas on the 12th without having played a single quality opponent all year. I can't wait to see the response when someone hits back.
Our defense goes against a quality opponent everyday in practice. I think the battle tested argument is invalid. You leave out what Lincoln has done since he’s been here. In case you’ve missed it our recruiting is considerably better under Riley. I agree Herman has recruited well too

Don't see much appetite from OU fans re: a conference move. For all the money they are raking in Nebraska and Texas A&M are not exactly lighting up their new conferences. Big 12 doing just fine as far as I am concerned. Good long time rivalries, plenty of access to Texas high school recruiting and Sooners could not ask for a more favorable landscape. Beat Texas and virtually assured of getting to Conf Championship Game.

If we keep it together and everyone gets a nice payday, the quitters are going to want back in..... bank on it.

Dude Riley fired Mike Stoops because of our crappy defense. I’m sure one if the conditions of him getting the job was to keep Mike around. I have a feeling Riley realized there was a problem but out of respect handled it with kids gloves as long as he could.
I don’t think you’ll find one person on here agreeing with your position that Riley took over a good or even decent defense. We’ve been bad for years
I’m not saying Mike stoops is the paragon of defensive coordinators by any means but the guy won a national championship at OU in his first stint, and in his second stint never had a bad defense until Lincoln Riley took over. When Riley took over it fell completely off the map and the common denominator is Lincoln.

The last college coach to go good on good in practice was Pete Carroll and even then it was 1s vs 2s. Scout team is walk ons, red shirts, and upperclassmen who are never going to see the field. Guys on the depth chart aren’t usually wasting time getting scout team reps.

Anyone that doesn’t acknowledge our defense go significantly worse when BOB AND MIKE STOOPS decided to switch to a 3-4 the last few years of Bob’s tenure have no idea what they’re watching or talking about. Mike continued with the undersized 3-4 until he got fired. It wasn’t Riley who implemented anything. But guess what, 100+ defense or not OU fans expected to play in CCG or the playoffs, no excuses or perpetual rebuild excuses.

In 2015, gooner had the 29th ranked defense in the country. In 2018, they were 101. Does anyone know what could have changed during that time period?

The decline in the ou defense coincides with the implementation of the Air Raid offense. It doesn't just kill the other teams defense.
