Urban Meyer

Herman needs time to get "his players" even though Strong said on the way out the door that he was leaving the cupboard fully stocked for the next coach.
The only thing that comes to mind upon Charlie Strong's exit:

Year 4.......that’s plenty of time. The issue is that he has shown no ability to develop or coach those players.
Yep. His high point at Texas is likely to be with the players Charlie left him. I mean look at that sugar bowl team. The main contributors were jr’s and SR’s. Since those guys left it’s been pretty much all down hill. And now that Herman’s first full class is Jr’s.... you aren’t seeing a whole heck of a lot in terms of talent.

I don't think Meyers comes to Texas, too much BS in the air saying he does, or someone would have a link or proof instead of 2300's and Sir LonestarBoats info he gives, I heard on 25/7 that I had won a new boat motor.....ya'll just getting ya weiner hard for nothing...LOL When they announce that hes taken the deal then will I believe...

I hear ya billy bob. There is a chance so let's not be negative. I will be negative if we keep hermie or hire some other unproven douche bag. Ticket sales will collapse if we have a loser at the helm then it will be CDC's turn on the steaming bidet.

i think Herman got too much too soon. He was pretty much out of Houston after that 2nd season and everyone knew it before the season started. So he had one season really has a HC, and just wasn’t ready or mature enough to handle the challenge of bigger job. I think if he had 3-4 years under his belt before coming to Texas I think he would of faired much better. There are a lot of guys I would put in that category though. Some guys get out on a fast track and they just aren’t ready for it.
It's almost as if someone on here, four years or so ago, was saying the same thing to anyone that would listen.

Hmmmm............ I wonder who tha......... Oh wait---

I get all your points about TH, but Mack Brown, retrospect, had a damn good run. His presence was felt immediately, and continued for 10 yrs.

You were. I was 100% with you.

it happens to a lot of guys. Lame Kiffin I would put in that category. Kliff Kingsbury another one. I don’t think they were or are bad coaches might actually be good. They just got jobs they weren’t ready for.

Yeah, not even remotely getting my hopes up this time around. This program seems fated to mostly step on its own d*ck for the rest of eternity. After this season, we’ll have all of one NC over the last half-century. Pretty much says it all.

I’ll believe Meyer is coming to Texas when I see him standing on the (west) sideline with a headset on in an actual game. Until then, I’m betting we’ll f*ck that up spectacularly, in trademark Texas fashion, and end up rolling the dice with yet another guy who hasn’t done much.

And now, back to looking for guns in Germany and Switzerland and doing my best to ignore this runaway clown car of a football program...

If we lose to a team this weekend that has only been able to practice a little while we wear throw back NC uniforms...........does that get him his walking papers????

I'm not understanding why Herman would get fired with such a winning record under his belt. Honestly, I'll be very surprised if Herman is replaced after this season. I'm just not understanding.....

maaaaan, we are beaten down. it's been a hard decade, i get it. imagine being beaten down by 100 years of history. a history where we have all the resources but can NEVER get anything substantial done. when even our best player gets us no better than 3rd or 4th in our division. and we brag about things like "cotton bowl", "beating alabama that one time", "having so many weird traditions", and "other teams in the conference that actually win".

we'll get through this. hopefully sooner rather than later. but as frustrating as this has been, we're still in a better spot than most. we're the right guy coming in away from turning it around immediately.

Sí, señor. I'd need to check my spreadsheet to be sure, but I'd guess I've probably bought more guns in Germany and Switzerland (along with a few in Italy) over the last couple of years than I have here at home.

Got a text from a buddy saying the deal has been hammered out in principle with Meyer. CDC controls what happens next. Same guy that told me about Charlie being hired/fired. Known him 25 years.

Clob........if I get a boner over this and it turns out to be nothing you owe me beers, a European vacation and (cant say other since I'm married)...................

As I stated earlier...........I'm a donkey on the edge and I can't deal with being teased..............

I need good news...........
Everyone I know is sending me all the dumb stuff Tommy has done, that UT is doing and now the band.......I need some good news............

I'm torn on what to hope for Saturday.............. I almost hope Baylor beats us handily so it can all be over......

When was the last time Clob was wrong concerning longhorn football?

This is good news indeed. We all know Herman will mess up soon. Probably against Bailor.

In clob I trust. If this is true then we may be on the way back in a few years. So heres hoping to a press release on December 2nd with Meyer walking in right behind CDC accepting the head coaching position.

I would not dismiss the mid season removal. Chirs Ash can take over with UM as the heir apparent. This should be done to save recruiting and current players.

I want Meyer, but talked to a guy this morning, who is wired in at Texas. He said that along with Meyer, that Shanahan is also in the mix. Those are the only two being considered per him.

it would be an immediate turnaround. and don't discount sam coming back to finish "the right way" if ol' urb takes the gig.

michael irvin told a story of his early years with dallas, players making fun of him for caring about winning. and when jimmy johnson got there, irvin pointed them out to him. sam could be urb's irvin. and i would eat it up. even if they cut what we fans view as great talent, if he got rid of the dudes that don't care, i'd love it.

From what I am hearing from some friends that Meyers is not coming! Doesn't wanna coach anymore...they been online with this Meyers stuff all day...

You have a problem.

25 million already rescinded in donations.

Season ticket sales are declining at a record rate.

The athletic department is bankrupt

The football 0rogram needs to be rescued now or this thing may not recover.

Well then, the cost of keeping the coach may be more then firing him.
