I hope this is true and if so, it probably means that Urban may already be forming a potential staff on paper, evaluating some recruiting film, etc.....

Yes, i would add that UM does not have a buyout. Shooting fish in a barrel. If CDC and belmont screw this up, they deserve the alumni revolt.

Yeah. He had 1 year as an OC at A&M under Sumlin. All the sudden he’s the savor or Texas Tech football. Didn’t really work out. Now he has the cardinals playing pretty well. An NFL team that doesn’t have a long history of success

I think the odds are still on it happening. Even with a win today it’s hard to see this team winning more than 5 games

If CDC keeps TH and lets UM go, he will become unpopular very fast. No way Herman makes it past next year. There is no possible way. It's best to can him asap.
That’s the problem CDC has now. If Urban doesn’t come here it will be painted as Texas chose not to hire him. When we don’t actually know if he wants the job. It’s a no win position
CDC would not pull the trigger until Meyer has agreed to terms and only thing left is his John Hancock on the signature line. CDC knows he cannot allow Herman to continue based on what he has seen. CDC gets paid the big money and has been successful before, lets hope the deal with Meyer is hammered out and Herman is shown the door.

And if Urban doesn’t want to coach and doesn’t want to coach? People seem under the impression urban wants to coach and wants to coach at Texas and it’s just a matter of Texas making the move. While that certainly may be the case it’s nothing more than an assumption. My fear is because of that assumption if he doesn’t end up here it will be painted as “Texas fault” when that may not be the case.

If Meyer is seriously considering coming to Texas, you will hear leaks coming out of Columbus. Seriously doubt that Meyer's wife wants to move to Austin and Meyer doesn't need the money. Also, his health problems are real. Unlikely that he wants Texas now, but he always leaves the door ajar a bit, when asked whether he will coach again.
She has strong family ties with her daughter and grandchildren in Columbus. (Her son-in-law, Corey Dennis is qb coach at OSU.) Also, there is a son at Univ of Cincinnati. Haven't heard her say anything, but at this stage of her life, it would be totally out of character for her to want to move away from her children and grandchildren.

I want to believe that this is happening but I'm not sure that Meyer is coming to TX. I know we have to wait until December 1st before we will hear anything. With that amount of time it allows TH to win over the major donors. If TH get into the big 12 championship he will definitely keep his job. The coaches that have come up are Urban Meyer and Kyle Shanahan. Urban Meyer is the top choice but if TH continues to win he may have more than a fighting chance to keep his job.
The only way TH keeps his job is if this team finishes 8-2 and we some how get into the big 12 championship game and win it. It looks like it’s going to take quite a bit of weird scenarios for that to happen anyways.
I could see Shanahan leaving SF. He’s clearly frustrated with Jimmy G, but SF is pretty tied to him. They are in the toughest division in football. I could see him using Texas as an exit strategy. Will have his pick of NFL jobs when/if he ever wanted to go back.
I would call Sean Mcvay too. Reportedly he talked to ESPN about leaving the Rams for Monday night football. I don’t know how serious those talks got, but he seems to have an understanding that LA isn’t going to be the first and only stop in his coaching career, and he could be a rock star at a big time college job

Pretty much no shot with Shanahan. I follow the 49ers very closely. Though I don’t have inside Info like some claim to have, he has a super bowl caliber roster (lot of injuries this year), a great relationship with his GM and recently signed a 6 year extension till 2025. It doesn’t say what he earns but it’s considered to be close to, or exceeding 10 mil per year. Why would he want to leave all of that to come down to the college level? His buyout is probably high too.
As far as Garoppolo, the 49ers aren’t that tied to him. Get informed before you post. Feel free to read up on his contract and you’ll see why they can get rid of him after this season if they want to.
The focus should be on Meyer as he is actually available. But I don’t think we end up with him.
While San Fran can technically get out of the contract with Jimmy G. Reality is though finding a SB caliber QB without having a top 10-15 draft pick isn’t easy at all. Almost impossible. So SF although they have a great roster they are in a bad spot at the most important position.
I’m sure I’ll get raked over the coals for this but if the UT bigwigs want Meyer but for whatever reason it doesn’t happen, my 2nd choice would be Art Briles. Briles is a damn good coach, the mess that happened at Baylor wasn’t his fault but he gets ALL the blame. The guy can certainly recruit and coach.

If we were going to give a guy with questionable moral behavior a second chance I’d take Hugh Freeze. Guy has won big at literately every job he’s had. Obviously some NCAA trouble and personal trouble at Ole Miss, but he’s probably a top 10 coach in college ball honestly
