Well, we got the easiest 1 seed to knock out. In fact, if we handle our business, I don’t even see Houston making it far enough to play us. Way overrated.

If Sasser is still hurt Houston won’t get out. Iowa could beat them and I think Miami or Indiana could beat them

Delicious matchup. Be careful what you wish for - they can't shoot but they get after it.
I think Penn State probably wins. They are playing really well. A&M got screwed on seeding though so the committee could set up a matchup they liked.

If we beat Aggy in the 2nd round that will absolutely guarantee RT the HC job
lol it will certainly help. Although I hope that the decision has already been made. If CDC has decided that Terry isn’t the guy then the tournament shouldn’t change that. On the flip side if CDC had decided he isn’t the guy I don’t think the tournament should change that. The NCAA tournament is kind of random and luck at times. Making coaching decisions off of it. Isn’t going to end well usually

I think I heard Vitale say that Houston's schedule was only ranked 102nd. So maybe they're not as good as their w/l record indicates.

Man give me that 2nd round matchup with Aggie please!!
Actually concerns me a little. They have been tough for the last month or so.
Houston hurts without Sasser, but appears he is ok?
At the same time, we are peaking at just the right time.

If I’m not mistaken Sasser has a groin injury. Those injuries don’t just go away. Even if he plays I doubt he’s even 75%, and they’re overrated with him at 100% IMO, so they’re in trouble.

Agree Houston is knocked out round 2

Colgate is the best 3 point shooting team in the country. They're also the 3rd worst defensive team in the tournament. We must stay locked in defensively against them.

Crest and Pronamel are easily better programs than Colgate tho...just my two cents.

I'm not on Face-crack.

Got something else?
It’s just an on3 article quoting college basketball insider Jeff Goodman that CDC doesn’t really WANT to hire Terry he wants to go big game hunting(which has been his MO) but Goodman says Texas may not have a choice, but to give him the job.

Which is kinda how I see it. If they told Terry he had a shot at the job( and they probably did) and he finishes 2nd in the conference, wins the conference tournament, and makes a tournament run you almost have to give him the job even if it goes against CDC’s usual idea.

If we meet up with A&M in the second round that will be the game that decides his future. Win and he gets to stay, lose and he's gone. He will lose any good fortune the fan base has for him if he gets upset by A&M and it will be easy for Del Conte to move on.

Also, I think A&M being placed as a 7 seed in our bracket is bad for us. We will potentially have to play an underrated team in a big rivalry game. They are pissed and as usual will come into the tournament with a big chip on their shoulder on top of the hatred for us. It will be a tough game. i told an Aggie buddy of mine that we should be just as pissed as they are about their seeding in the tournament because it screws us as well.

I think the Aggies will roll over PSU and will give UT all they can handle. They get after it and play hard. Buzz is a terrific coach. I also agree with the previous poster - I'm not sure getting to the Sweet 16 guarantees the job for Terry, but losing to ATM will guarantee NOT getting the job. This will be the most watched 2nd round game.

I think if the sweet 16(along with everything else he’s accomplished this year) doesn’t get him the job then he was never actually gonna get the job. If he gets to the sweet 16 this will have been the best basketball season in a long time.

I’m ok with Terry not getting the job IF the person that does is a legit bad ass star coach, and there aren’t many that fit that bill.

I agree that there aren't that many, but who do you put in that category? Self is ill. Mussleman lost some of his luster. Oates - can he finish? Sampson - old and with baggage. Drew - he won one, but there have been quite a few disappointments along the way - was it just lightning in a bottle? Calipari - can still recruit, but can he coach? (and old). Few - really nothing negative to say except he hasn't won it all.

And BTW - whatever happened to Billy Gillespie - I would've sworn that he would win multiple titles at Kentucky. I just looked on Wikipedia and saw he is the coach at Tarleton State. Bet you could get him cheap!

You're kidding yourself if you think CDC isn't going to use the tournament as a measuring stick for what to do with Terry. This team has done exactly what they were supposed to have done at this point so I don't put any extra stock into what they have accomplished. Go get to the Final Four and then we can talk about retaining him.

I really only put two guys in that category for this conversation Billy Donovan and Jay wright. Now there are other guys who if you told me CDC was gonna offer a bunch of money to that I would consider them in ghat catagorey like Scott Drew, you could talk me in to Mick Croin someone like that, but if Rodney Terry goes to the sweet 16 and CDC doesn’t give him the job, and comes back with like Bruce pearl or Mussleman I think it will be seen as a let down. Nothing against those guys they’ve had good careers. Just given the circumstances I don’t think that gets it done.

To answer your question about Billy Gillespie yeah It just never worked out at Kentucky I think it was an odd fit and I think he had some personal issues too. I think he is coaching at a small school in Texas if I recall
