Computer models favor gooners

OU defense already given up 220 yards and 17 points to a terrible Iowa State offense.

The OU defense shut out Iowa State in the second half. Final score, OU 50 Iowa State 20. OU was favored by 19, won by 30. It's also the first time that Iowa State has lost a game by more than 14 points in the last six years.

No more looking ahead talk. The best week of the year just started and both teams are undefeated for the first time since 2011…LETS GO!!!

That Iowa State team struggled beating a team that got beat 33-7 to South Alabama 🤣🤣. Rude awakening coming for you guys next Saturday

Bro, yall struggled against Kansas with its significantly worse backup qb for a half of football. Let’s be real, I watched your game, it wasn’t a great showing. Not saying we had a great day either, OU let some things slip too. Very similar games against similar opponents (Kansas wasn’t the 4-0 Kansas without Daniels…that team probably wouldn’t have beaten ISU).

We didn’t struggle. We whipped them up and down the field the whole game.

The old “ the team we beat would beat the team you beat” fallacy; a tale as old as time

If getting over 600 yards of offense is "struggling" then I hope we struggle next week too..LOL.

Why are blou fans over here justifying their defense to us? Do y'all think we care?

Not "justifying" anything. Just responding to the premature ejaculation that took place here at the beginning of the ISU game, before the OU defense held ISU to zero points and 94 total yards for the remaining 39 minutes of the game.

While I agree your defense is definitely improved from last year (I would go so far as to say GREATLY improved), the ISU offense this year is nothing like what they’ve had the last 4 or 5 years.

Yall are right. I only watched the first half before heading to Norman and didn’t realize it got that out of hand. Really bad first half against a terrible backup QB but very good on both sides of the ball from midway through the 3rd quarter on.

Both teams played solid second halves after shaky starts. Should be fun this weekend. I think OU has definitely started better than Texas all season but I highly doubt Texas starts slow in the cotton bowl.

Yes of course it's a bad offense. But a couple things about that
1. Even Bad offense didnt look bad against OU defense last year
2. that 20 point start wouldnt have stopped at 20 last year
3. OU basically did what a good defense is supposed to do
4. the D made adjustments and played stellar after that

Now some other things, they did have a good defense
Before playing OU isu had the big 12's top defense in ypg given up
They were right behind OU and tx in ppg given up
and OU put 50 on 'em
first time since 2018 this game wasnt a 1 score game

Definitely a good performance and coming into the big game with momentum

Cincinnati is not a “bottom tier team” in the Big 12. You can pretty much go to any set of reputable power ratings out there and see they’re about the middle of the pack. They’re actually better than Iowa State, who OU plays on Saturday. Cincinnati is favored by 2 on the road at Brigham Young.
Uh ya... BYU beat Cincinnati lol

Anyone know why they wait until much later in the season to do the official playoff rankings?

Hint: because the computers are admittedly doo doo up until then. However, feel free to continue spouting off any and every stat, line, and/or transitive property you can find to provide yourself with that sweet, sweet confirmation bias you seek.

We’ll all know the truth on Saturday regardless of the bs anyone pulls out of their ass in the name of hope.

In reality even Vegas has doo doo lines. It's based on how much money they think they can draw in based on the line and the potential wager "betters" per each university.
And speaking from personal experience- there's 1 out of 10 of these particular match ups that can be predicted accurately. Texas vs OU is just a weird match-up.
You can't explain it.

Very true, hookem777. It's called college football. The best teams don't always win, and in a one-off anything can happen. As expected, Cincinnati pretty much dominated the game, but a horrible decision that resulted in an early pick-six, coupled with a muffed punt return in the red zone essentially gifted the win to BYU.

My point is cinci isn't a middle of the pact team and you tried to do that by calling BYU a bottom one..who just beat Cincinnati. Scoreboard all that matters

I never said Cincinnati was going to win the game. I said they were favored (and rightfully so). The fact that Cincinnati self-destructed and lost the game doesn't change that. If you think every time a team loses a game they were favored in means that they should have never been favored in the first place, then there's not much more I can offer otherwise.

At the end of the season, Cincinnati will finish somewhere near the middle of the Big 12 standings, and BYU will finish near the bottom.

Nuh uh

I have no feel for this game, but I do have one big wish. That this is the first of two games Texas & Oklahoma will play this year. That would be perfect.

Imagine making Brett Yormark sit through a Big 12 Championship game where none of his 2024 schools are playing. The trophy presentation would be about as awkward (for him) as it gets.
Literally the only time you would ever catch me alive chanting "S-E-C" is if we both end up in Arlington.

He may be referring to the fact that they were only up 20-14 as late as the 3rd quarter. he qualified that by stating that kansas had a backup qb and that the struggle was for a half of football.

I have to agree with Hoookem722 on that one. Kansas hung around until halftime on the scoreboard (although Texas was piling up the yardage), then Kansas got thoroughly blasted in the second half.

We moved the ball at will all game except for the red zone in the first half. Sark will have some things ready for OU that you have not seen yet, like he did against Bama.

I imagine both coaches wlil be pulling out some unseen stuff saturday. The ease of this schedule allowed OU to play vanilla a lot of time time
