Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (12 days that changed Texas football forever)

Totally forgot about that. Here's the quote from Strong:

"No, because if you surround yourselves with the right people. You have an outstanding president here, outstanding athletic director, you have the support staff. When you have the right support around you, there is no pressure. When you're not prepared, yeah, there is pressure. It's all about being surrounded with the right people, with the outstanding coaching staff, it won't be any pressure. Go recruit the right people and continue to build on something great, and then that pressure eases for you."

Yeah, but TH's was much more direct....and based off what we saw in 3 years with Charlie, he didn't follow his own advice. We'll see if TH will.

Oscar was never a slouch. He had a hand in Jeffcoat, Oak, Malcom, Jones, basically any DE or line guy with a pulse during our run.

Oscar is a stud...amazing how so many OBs take him for granted because he's one of our own or because they see him as a "comfort hire". He worked his ass off as a player, and has done the same as a coach. He's a star in the making, and we should be elated he's coming back home. I just hope he isn't plucked for a bigger role in the next couple of years.

I may gave missed it somewhere, but were terms of the contract disclosed yet?

During the PC, why would the LN show a Kris Boyd Tweet? I thought that was odd.

Great write up, I think it's ironic that the TCU game didn't even get an honorable mention in the crazy 12 days. That's how unimportant that game really was.

It had the importance that it was the last game...that Fenves arbitrarily or otherwise set up as when he was going to make his decision.

But that was really the only significance, signifying the end.

AMEN....except maybe that OBers could after Fenves official announcements (Strong fired and Herman hired...in about 4 hours)....could RELAX......thank goodness.
I really think everyone is relieved, OBs, players, admin and really I think deep down CS is relieved as well.

Damn good times ahead...excited to see the staff shake out and see us get to signing day!

Great coverage by OBs.

For a guy that appeared to want to take over the process at one point and was clearly against Herman being hired, where was McRaven today ?

And was it the "red flag" issue or something else that turned him against Herman ? And how could Fenves go against McRaven ?

@Ketchum, hypothetically, if we get Stidham, allen in addition to Ehlinger, does Beuchele beat them all out as the day 1 starter?

I'd say yes to all except Stidham.

Who says that the Charlie Strong recruits are what we want them to be.... are they as good as we wish for, OR , are they less by chance ?

McRaven and Abbott and Fenves did what the $$$$ told them to do. All is well that ends well!

Best part of the press conference was his comments about locking down the borders and Texas being the flagship school for the best talent in America. This dude gets it. Thanks for the great coverage the past few weeks Ketch. Hook em

I believe there's no doubt Kyle Allen is extremely talented. I don't think he had great coaching @ Ag & he was rushed into action.

Kyle Allen imo is a future NFL QB.

Ketch I'm not sure LSU was in a financial position to go shopping with a large budget because of Louisiana's financial problems. Talks of big cuts for all state funding of schools to include LSU were a topic during the summer.

On the Cowboys, Jimmy was asked this question on The Heard last week and his response was interesting. It wasn't a "bitch please" - he actually said there were a lot of similarities but the glaring difference was the defense. Jimmy built a hell of a defense through the draft and through the trade for Hailey. After watching the Washington game I have to agree, the current defense is pretty bad and as the season compresses, it will likely cost the Cowboys a trip to the Super Bowl.

Jerry needs to shore that D up in every round of next year's draft.

Fenves could not go against McRaven. McRaven is his boss. McRaven had to resolve the issues that caused him to get involved, and obviously he did.

Out of all that good stuff, all I have to say is this: no way in hell Jerry trades Romo to Houston. 0% chance...

Can we get him set up with the late night drunk posting crew? Would bet he would catch a Suchomel ban for bewbs.
This is soooo Texas. I don't drink now, but light years ago when I was 41 we watched football in a garage, bbqed, and threw multiple beers down - it was like a mead hall.
So what. Hook Em.

That's nice of you to say. Thanks.
Second that. The "quiet" over turkey day was very well done. We all thought we knew the answers, but wild speculation was not the order of the day. Thanks to you and the staff for handling this well, and deflecting all those who wanted to read the last chapter of the book first. Hook Em.

#6 - LSU I think they did the right thing given the circumstances. There was no one that attractive after Herman or affordable. Why not get Coach O on a short cheap contract? You know he can recruit and in a couple years the coaching pool will have changed.

Excellent write up!

Curious to know. Was there a significant turn over of players when Herman first took over at Houston? Did he 'clean house'?

I would hate to see a reoccurrence of what happened with Strong. I believe such broad brush action does have a detrimental affect on both team cohesiveness & moral....
