Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (A&M's Kevin Sumlin problem is a gift for Strong)

I'd rather see a mention on the Katy Tigers than EPL for crying out loud. Put down the IPA and throw a bone to a kick ass program. That's what coaching-up actually looks like. And I can't stand Katy, btw. It's like an aggy prep school.

Yeah!!! Who wants to talk about European Kick Ball?

How can a movie be perfect and not your choice for best picture?
Because in its world, it was/is perfect, but that doesn't make it THE best movie of the year. Check out Room if you haven't seen it. Pretty powerful stuff.

1. There was a little of this too with Luke Skywalker. He had very little training and yet used the force with great efficacy once he was made aware of it's existance. His first sabre battle and he holds his own quite well with Vader. Again, with little formal training to speak of he is a much superior fighter to his father by the second time they fight. In the later Star Wars novels it's explained that Skywalker is the most naturally gifted Jedi who has ever lived and he just had a natural feel for how to manipulate the force that other Jedi simply do not possess. He inherited these gifts from his father, but was better able to access them since he lacked the immense anger that hsi father had. Palpatine had it wrong. It was his lack of anger that made him powerful -- his purity of heart, if you will.

What's the point of all that? I'm predicting that Rey will wind up being Luke's daughter. Several reasons for this: when she first touched Luke's sabre she has an immediate connection to it beyond simply being force sensitive. It triggered visions for her the likes of which nothing before had. Secondly, Kylo Ren made a comment about her being "the long lost girl" or something like that. When Kylo murdered all the young Jedi's, Luke probably made a priority of saving his daughter and then depositing her somewhere she would be safe. It's no coincidence that Max Von Sydow's character, someone you get the impression is thought of very highly by the resistance, happens to live in the next village over, just as Obi-Wan did for Luke as a child. Lastly, a strong hint was made with the way she pulled the light sabre from the snow using telekinesis for the first time in her life, paralleling what Luke did on Hoth to save himself from the Wampa.

Finn is an easy one. He's a trained killer who is probably efficient in multiple forms of battle. Add in a little force sensitivity on his part and there you go. And let's not pretend that Kylo fought with the level of precision that trained Jedi's and Sith displayed in previous Star Wars films. He fought like a talented amateur who is still learning the ropes compared to the more practiced technique of Obi-Wan.

2. It gets explained somewhere in a past film or book that clones were a one-time deal from the past. Domnhal Gleason's general character seemed like he was arguing for a return to cloning.

3. Totally agree. She is a stunning woman.

Also, KR was gut shot by Chewy. He was hurt. Had to slow him down some in a fight.

It'll depend on Texas' first five games. A 2-3 start will be very tough to overcome because the wheels will be in motion.

Both Aggy and Texas are going to be doing their damndest to avoid sub .500 records in the first half.

A&M
UCLA
Prairie View A&M
@ Auburn
Arkansas (Dallas)
@ South Carolina
Tennessee

Texas
Notre Dame
UTEP
@ Cal
@ OK State
Oklahoma (Dallas)
Iowa State

Good grief, I meant Jerod Evans. My brain is melting down at the end of the year.
Ok good. Better you than me. Wasn't there a QB at Arky named Jared Allen? I thought of him when you said that but he played a while ago right? Also, do you think Evans is still really in the picture from both sides?

Going to be fascinating to see who pulls the plug on their coach first, Texas or A&M. Even though Sumlin's record is far better than Chuck's if he's lost the team, it won't matter.

It isn't just that he has lost the team it is the way he has done it. And as for the record hey -who came into the best situation-Sumlin had a good team especially at OL before he walked in thanks to Mike Sherman then he saves Johnny Manziel's career at A&M (if folks recall Manziel nearly transferred) and had a good one years run.

Since then not so much: A&M is 16-9 over the past two seasons, and 11-13 in the SEC in the last three years.

In the meanwhile with Charlie had to come in with a bad situation and change an entire culture of entitlement with a fanbase as impatient and equally as entitled as the players were with an new AD who if the stories are true did everything he could to screw over the program in again the name of change because that is what people WANTED-CHANGE.

Did Charlie make mistakes-yes he did. No question on that but if anyone really thought this was going to get turned around in 2 years they are kidding themselves.

You'd certainly think or why in the hell are you using such a weak blaster?
So you think we could pry him away from Va Tech? I would hope we'd have a shot but I would think the statistics bear that once committed, most kids don't flip. Charlie has flipped several though.

Evans signed with Va Tech last week, unfortunately.

Best Supporting Actor (based on the movies I have actually seen) 1. Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies)

Totally agree. I said that walking out of the theatre.

Maybe more than one picture is perfect. Take the year that both Black Swan and The King's Speech came out. Two flawless films, but only one can win the trophy.

Recruiting, from this point forward, is going to exceed your wildest expectations.

e. I don’t care what any of you might say, Kirk Cousins is fool’s gold.

Hard to call a QB who has produced as much as Cousins this year "fools gold" when his salary is only $660k From a moneyball standpoint he is 24 caret.

zzzzzzzzzzz

He's so good that he let Dallas beat him two weeks ago...

And yet his team is in first place in the division. IMO he's no Aaron Rodgers, but he is good enough that the Redskins should be drafting linemen in this years draft. He's probably as good as Romo and not nearly as flaky.

Probably as good as Romo, huh?
