Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (About the quarterbacks... again)

Once again Ketch, you’re overthinking this. This team should be 6-1 and they’re not for one simple reason, they quit.

And it’s worse. They didn’t quit because they were intimidated into quitting. They quit because they thought getting an early lead entitled them to coast the rest of the way.

It’s the worst form of quitting because it’s born from entitlement when they haven’t accomplished shit.

Culture eats strategy for lunch and the culture of this program is trash.

Part of what has to happen in these final five games includes the Longhorns finishing the season not looking like they are absolute light years behind Georgia on the national level. I've said for months that I believe the Longhorns will land Manning if they make the Big 12 championship game and just show signs of progress in year one as part of a process headed for big things. Anything less than that makes it hard to believe that Texas will finish as anything more than the maid of honor.
YIKES!!!!

If that turns out to be Arch's criteria then we're gonna be the bridesmaid.

I am ready for hoops. Excited to watch our team too. Warriors fan.

That Devon Campbell foreshadowing would be a real kick in the nuts if it came to fruition.

25 minutes by Cash is soooo underrated.

it’s ok you didn’t have it in top 10 ..I just think it’s a genius song.

His pocket presence is better, he’s got quicker twitch, and frankly he doesn’t look confused. Card doesn’t look like he has a good handle on the offense and what he is seeing on defense at this point. Does Casey miss throws and not see defenders….yes. When Casey’s on he’s better than Sam ever was and gives us our best chance to win, but he has his Spencer Sanders moments too
I think Card's book isn't completely written. He's had seven quarters.

It might be at Texas. I hope it isn’t but my opinion is he isn’t the guy who gives us the best chance to win this year and I think it will be hard to grab the reigns next year. TBD. However I thought it might have been good to pull Casey for a drive on Saturday against OSU to just try to get something started. We needed something from our HC/OC to get us out of the rut we were in whether it was a special play, different personnel, just anything because it was hot garbage after the first drive in 2nd half

1. Hopefully Card isnt a whiney little bitch like OP about how he has been treated by one of the best QB coaches in America. Sark gave him the opportunity, he did ok at first and then showed his age when the going got tough. He will bounce back with experience. Making more of every word spoken at a presser is just click bait.

2. Yes, I am pretty sure Sark knows he needs OL in the portal like he knows he needed LB last year. Notice by the way, that those LBs praised by mods here like the guy from NMex havent seen much of the light of day. The DLs at least have earned PT and some praise.

7. Caleb Williams may turn into a good QB, but so far his WRs have made him look a lot better than his play. He threw three hail marys against us and got lucky on all of them. He threw more against TCU and again got lucky. He should have been stopped for a loss on his TDrun against us. Luck evens out over time.
1. Kids notice when they aren't treated the same.

2. The OL was needed this year just like the linebackers.... Sark just ignored it.

With Casey on the bench, I feel Texas would lose what little leadership it has. Maybe it's because Casey is an upperclassmen, maybe it's because he's more vocal and animated on the field but for whatever reason, this years team seems to be Casey's. The coaches and the players can see that....Ketch can't. 😉
That leadership only gets you so far when you don't play well consistently.

All that matters now is....

Indeed.

But, these issues at the moment aren't all personnel based. Some is coaching.

What percentage is "some"?

At what point does it become a player issue versus a coaching issue? We've given these guys several staffs and a few are on their 3rd head coach. They have excellent facilities, a rabid (but beaten down) fanbase and everything we could give them. Its never enough.

God himself probably couldnt do much better than Flood with these offensive linemen, they are just that damn bad. We dont have talent here besides Bijan, Worthy, and maybe a couple other guys. All the coaching in the world isnt going to fix that issue within the confines of this season. I have a hard time laying that blame on the coaching staff. This is an average football team missing the guys last year that covered up for a great deal.

Card should be at QB v Baylor period.. So much mishandling of personnel makes me question Sark as a coach!

Please lay out for us all of the "mismanagement". This is an average roster with no talent on both lines. Flip flopping QBs is nothing more than throwing shit against the wall and hoping it sticks.

We’d be better than 4-3 with Ehlinger at quarteback. Leadership, toughness, scrambling, underrated passer. I have seen more instances of wide open receivers this year than I saw in Sam’s 4 years. Will Thompson be drafted and stick with a team?
