I think the feather in Card's cap is that no matter how bad Card was against Arkansas, he wasn't putting the ball into the opponent's hands. That is one of the reasons why Thompson lost the job in the first place and it was a devastating component of the loss on Saturday.

He has no choice now. Sark was given an ultimatum and he made his decision based on that. He made a decision based on fear. And because of that, Casey will cost us 2 more games. He’ll shred Kansas though, so that’s good.
I dont read the board much, but I have read this same thing from you several times. You clearly have the best read of this lockerroom from first hand reports. Bijan himself said basically the same thing.
Look, every Texas fan should want both our QBs to have great success. I think Card has a great future from all the camp reports, he just needs to learn how to play in the college game. Pete Carroll had one of the best QB runs in CFB history, and those guys spend multiple years learning to play before they were starters.
We have a lot of great and smart fans. But this board has a lot of clowns as well. Avoid the clowns, they arent thinking, they are just putting on a stupid show.
Aggies Calzada sure looked rattled in his first start and now look at his growth. Sorry, but Card has tons more talent than that guy. We have to find out sooner than later.
What in the world are you talking about? I believed in Sark when Card was named QB. I was 100% okay with Casey starting after Arkansas. I now have seen enough of Casey to where I think Card needs some playing time. It’s sad you think attempting to have a football debate about the current status of our football program is “attacking the reporter.” I asked your opinion several times and got “well sark is the decision maker” in return.
I mean I screamed all off-season about the need for OL help in the portal.

How can you not say the same about Casey? He was so rattled, he got to the point of not even being able to handle the snaps on big 3rd downs killing multiple drives. I don't know which guy is the answer or if either is at all, but you have lost all objectivity on this particular matter. What is best for the team with where we are now sitting is to play both guys and see who gives us the best shot going into next season. Before we burned Card's shirt, and Casey melted down exactly like Card did I would have said to just ride it out with Casey and take the lumps. That has all changed now. Nobody can say with a straight face who our guy is or should be at this point. Why not let them battle it out where it matters, on the field?

Exactly. Casey was a turnover machine all spring and summer. And to add to that, he just isn’t very good. Limited arm, questionable decision making, gets too emotionally high/low, and isn’t nearly the leader everyone makes him out to be. But he keeps playing because he forced Sark’s hand. It’s as simple as that. Meanwhile, Card is just keeping his head down and preparing. Handling the situation with pure class, even though he has every right to look around like WTF? I got yanked after a bad half on the road for this?

BTW, this thread was not what I was expecting when I went to finish Squid Games two hours ago.

Again great point. The bigger question to me and what you have alluded to is what’s the reasoning behind sticking with Casey after the apparent struggles? My only guess is that the player’s response and/or Thompson’s calm demeanor has at least something to do with that. I will admit that Casey did look more “antsy” or at least less composed vs OK state than any previous game this season.

If you're Card, you're bouncing in that situation. It's an indication of a complete lack of confidence from thew coaching staff.

He may not of been the only one to blame, but his pick six was the major factor in this loss.
There is no doubt about this. I watched a majority of that game Saturday. Casey will get eaten alive. No doubt after saturdays performances the game is right around a pickem. If you would have asked me going into OU I would have said Texas would be a 7 point favorite vs Baylor.
