Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (All hell about to break loose)

Nice write up. I think you meant last RITES.

I only see 13 recruits you listed as your picks how does he get top 10 with only those 13 ?

Are you including the other 13 previous commits with the 13 you're counting? That would add up to 26.

I think subscriptions should entitle us to knowing what more of these "issues" were with previous coaches. Otherwise what is the point to paying?

@Ketchum Where do you see the recruiting class ranked if it goes down the way you think it might...ballpark I mean?

Just FYI...lyrics for "Take It Easy" were written by Jackson Browne. Music by Jackson Browne (unfinished) and finished by Glen Frey.

Yup, there's a great re-telling of the story of how that went down in the History of the Eagles.

WR/TE Lil’Jordan Humphrey (SL Carroll)
TE Irvin Smith (New Orleans)
DT D'andre Christmas-Giles (New Orleans)
DT Stephon Taylor (New Orleans)
DT Chris Daniels (Euless Trinity)
DT Jordan Elliott (Houston Westside)
DE Mark Jackson (Cibolo Steele)
LB Jeffrey McCulloch (Aldine Davis)
LB Dontavious Jackson (Houston Elsik)
DB Eric Cuffee (Waco)
DB Brandon Jones (Nacogdoches)
DB Chris Brown (Houston Elsik)

I'm really happy if we nab land these kids plus what we already have. I would be ecstatic.

Haven't seen the Eagles documentary, but I heard Jackson Browne speak about it for several minutes before he played it at a concert around 2000. He also briefly mentioned it on his "Running On Empty" tour in late 70's.

He was very complementary of Frey finishing it, but Browne didn't play it live for a number of years b/c he said he thought people would have thought he was covering an Eagles song.

Have you done a Don Henley or Jackson Browne segment on your 10 thoughts? If not you should give them a shot. Some of Henley's best songs and vocals were on his solo albums. "End of the Innocence" ('89, 6x platinum) is a classic and Grammy winner. "Inside Job" (2000, platinum) is not far behind..."Goodbye to a River" and "My Thanksgiving" are two of his finest songs. The album "Building the Perfect Beast" was his first solo effort (Boys of Summer, Sunset Grille) on Geffen Records ('84) and went 3x platinum.

Jackson Browne's first 10 albums had many great songs ('72-93), then he kind of went dry (4 albums since '93).

I would request a Jethro Tull listen, but after about 40 albums (and 60 million in album/CD sales, including Tull and Ian Anderson solos), it would likely take a month.

Got a pic of me on a corner in Winslow.

Hope Irvin knows one of the greatest plays in Texas history was by a New Orleans TE.

Take it Easy was a great vocal for Frey but mostly penned by Jackson Brown

My favorite bands cowriter & vocalist gone too soon. Thank you Glenn.

Charlie's recruiting strategy of waiting till the last month to step up is hurting the overall ability of
the team to land a top class. IMO he could have had some of the same recruits earlier if
he had worked it sooner. Lack of a running back in this class is a mistake. No way we should have lost Whaley
to Arkie. Too many last minute decisions, hoping to flip recruits from other schools makes no sense.
"Out of Eden" should be on your Eagles list.

Or maybe he understands the difference b/w recruits today and recruits 10 years ago. He is likely going to flip both Smith and Jackson, so what good did it do Sumlin to have them on board so early? To have to work just as hard to keep them? I think he gets a nucleus of guys he truly wants, then recruits like hell all the way to the end. We've got a big leg up on some 2017 recruits, but I think Coach Strong is still going to have 14-15, generally, going into the end of December, and then finish out his class just like he's done.

We may get more commitments on NSD than Mack normally got on his first spring camp.

Talk about a reversal.

Heck. After next Wednesday, it may be another 365 days before we know what the next class is going to look like.

It's a different era for sure.

e. Was really hoping that Tottenham would drop a match on the road at Crystal Palace, but the Spurs completely outclassed its opposition, including one of the sickest goals of the year from Deli Ali. FYI … he’s 19.

And Eric Dier is 21, Harry Kane 22, Christian Erikson 23, Coco Lamela 23, etc... the youngest team in the EPL and with probably the best academy. Give them a new stadium to increase their revenues and hopefully Daniel Levy can be persuaded to stop selling marque players (which I think has happened when you hear Poch say Kane isn't for sale at any price). Exciting time for Spurs - COYS!

I hope you're right. Getting on recruits earlier vs later can only help not hurt .Being the first to offer puts you in good
position with most recruits, hence the positive vibes he has working for 2017. If Sumlin hadn't crapped the bed he would still
have both Smith and Jackson, our chance with them is more Aggy f'up than great UT recruiting accumen.
Right now everyone is hoping for a last minute miracle avalanche of recruits to salvage a weak class. No way to run
your recruiting IMO.

I need to stay away from this place until Feb 3 - I can't take the suspense.

I might have argued ranking within the top 10 but why, Frey and the Eagles are to me, the greatest of all time - for the record, I also love Henley's solo stuff but I consider it all to be The Eagles. My playlist on I-tunes doesn't distinguish. Regret I did not make it to the last tour.

If Charlie can flip all of these guys and land a top 10'ish class who are we to even suggest what he does. Of course this is Orangebloods so my opinion is we need to get 1 or 2 war daddy 5 star guys on board early even if we have to fight to hang on to them for a year. Having a few nationally ranked studs on board should help set a foundation that opens the door to other 4 and 5 star players. Sure is a different world than the Mack days, high stakes poker for sure as if we miss on these kids and have a dud of a class all hell is going to break loose on the program.

Wow, you just do not get it. 1) you cannot get everyone you target, 2) how can you question his recruiting strategy with the results from Florida, Louisville, last year and the epic finish he is putting together. 3) it's seems to me whatever Charlie does people like you are never satisfied. Get onboard and Believe or get off and find another Board and team. Savages are Coming, Savages are Coming.

Even some of the 3 star guys Texas gets are underrated imo.

Look at Cuffee, Taylor and Elliott's offer list. No way they are 3 star prospects.

I think Fitzgerald might be the most underrated guy too as a 3 star and he dominated his all star week.

Strong is an incredible evaluator of talent.

No, not really. Not if 4-0 in the Super Bowl isn't the only thing that matters.

Like you said, it's all about the Super Bowl, of which Montana never lost. Also look who Montana had to beat: elway and Marino. Two elite level QBs, Brady and Manning have split-whoever is at home wins. Montana always crushed in the big game. Montana wasn't a cheating bastard either.

So are you going to need to hire some OBs to help cover all these announcements? If so, I'm in.
