Norman had the better year, but he's not automatically the better player.Great player, not sure he is the best defensive player on his team. Keuchly doesn't miss a few games he is the obvious DPOY IMO.

If we get more first downs, we'll get more plays. It's not just playing quicker but it's executing your plays better. With our new offense, I'm hoping for more successful plays, first downs, points and wins. Thanks for opining on my offensive plays per game buy or sell. Considering we averaged 67.8 plays per game last year, if we do in fact get to 80 or better in 2016, our team will be radically different. More points, perhaps more wins, and more fun to watch. Like Morgan Freeman in Shawshank, "I hope".
Take away the 4 EEs and you have to add 4 moreAre you including the other 13 previous commits with the 13 you're counting? That would add up to 26.
Well said. I was heavily recruited coming out of HS and I tell you there is nothing like the connection with Parents. Love what I am seeing from Charlie. If he pull off what he is trying to pull off we will be well on our way to competing for a National Championship and a pipeline of NFL high draft picks year after yearUs Texas fans are just not used to this type of drama in the recruiting home stretch. Those who are not quite sold shouldn't get a new team, but should remember that the years when Mack had the class tied up well in advance of Feb were the years that gutted our roster.
Sub-par early commits from 2006 on (you know, capitalizing on our MNC) just to "be done earlier" cost us in a ton of recruiting battles bc Mack just let great recruits go elsewhere rather than play the long game and fight for a late signature. Plus we never had room or were already too focused on the next cycle so we missed a lot of late bloomers.
CS has to get these final 13-15 kids on board to be truly beyond question, but I'm loving the excitement and chance to add a lot of quality to our roster.
I'll see The Revenant soon enough. WE'll see what the fuss is all about.
Thanks. A lot of what I post is aggregated from a few other sites. I also have an acquaintence who's son works in the athletic dept.I always listen to you, so this makes me feel better coming from you. Definitely not a sunshine pumper but always seem to know more than many on this board.
If the whispers inside of the recruiting shadows come out into the light of day, as expected inside the Texas coaching offices, then one of the big stories nationally in 10 days will be the rise from the ashes that will have taken place in the direct aftermath of so many national pundits reading Strong’s staff its last recruiting rites.
I can't be the only one that completely skips numbers 8 (soccer) and 9 (movies) every week. I mean seriously, does even 10% of subscribers care AT ALL about soccer?
More football, less futbol please.

Keep in mind that 2017 is really the first year that Strong got an even start with his competitors. He's been battling more established relationships in some cases for both years he's been here.I have no doubt Charlie wants to get certain kids early, just like Beauchele. I just don't think the recruiting winds were in his favor early this year and last. He's had to make strong pushes late and luckily it appears he's making it work. If Texas wins 8-9 next year, I think 2017 could be huge.
I skip them but it's no sweat to me if Ketch and others enjoy. There is so much other interesting content so I don't begrudge these things that don't interest me.I can't be the only one that completely skips numbers 8 (soccer) and 9 (movies) every week. El Mahico said differently
Those are my personal choices, not predictions for what will happen.I thought there weren't any black nominees this year? Is Michael b Jordan not nominated?
Texas still had a really bad reputation in South Dallas for a lot of folks. Still does for some. That just blows my mind that high school coaches would A) have so much of a say in a kids future/college like that, and B) dislike a University (and an all-around great one, at that) so much that they would do everything they could to keep their players from going to those schools.
I know some of these coaches are father figures to some of their players but a lot of them have only known them what- 3 years? I'd tell my coach to get lost if he started trying to play favorites for me.
So, you're giving me an excuse. I like it.IMO you need to be really stoned to enjoy Jethro Tull.
Not in terms of the rankings.Take away the 4 EEs and you have to add 4 more
You might want to look at his first Super Bowl team. Dwight Clark wasn't bad, but he's not Gronkowski as a weapon, either. The difference b/w Tom and Joe is Joe actually crushed it on the big stage. Tom has been good, not great, in all the Super Bowls he's won. He won 2 on last second FGs, and another on a terrible call by Seattle. Otherwise, he's 3-3. Great, but not the best.Montana also never came close to playing with guys like Amendola, Troy Brown, and James White as supporting cast. And the difference both Manning and Montana needed absolutely loaded and great teams to get there. Tom does not. No matter what the talent level is he always gets his team there.

a. Leo is the heavy favorite. The Revenant is a great movie. I don't think Leo will win best actor, but holy crap the best supporting actor should be locked down. What a great performance by Hardy.
Soooo... should I take off work for National Signing Day, or not??
He has Elway's vote, or at least he did a few years ago. Maybe John's changed his mind. I'll ask him next time I bump into him at the Piggly Wiggly. No, not really. Not if 4-0 in the Super Bowl isn't the only thing that matters.

a. agreed on CharlieI think Charlie has a MUCH better feel for the current recruiting environment than the haters will ever give him credit for.
Eric Davis had no business sitting on the pine for all but less than 2 minutes of the final 8+ minutes of the game.
Much like I have had to give credit to Phil after he broke through in Majors, I have to credit Cam for the remarkable QB he has become. I honestly thought he would never work on his craft and the league would catch up to him. Obviously that was FAR from wrong.
I have to chuckle at Carrell listed only 4th in Best Actor category.
It's ironic you call "New Kid in Town" criminally underrated then list it only 8th BEHIND "The Heat is On." And "Lyin' Eyes" just 7? Be better @Ketchum
Put another way, it was 2 out of 10 bullet points in your column, thus 20%.a. I wrote 4,623 words this week.
b. 281 were movie related.
c. 235 were soccer related.
I this really something that needs complaining about, especially since multiple people in this thread and each week comment on both subjects.
I mean... come on.
maybe not coin flip, but somewhere close. Mom wants Texas.GK....Load up on the RED BULL bro.... Fowler is the highest ranked recruit on the board....also one that could contribute immediately off the edge and special teams... are you a coin flip or is he Baton Rouge?
And what momma wants.......maybe not coin flip, but somewhere close. Mom wants Texas.
We gonna talk about the entire books on both players or just that chapter? You might want to look at his first Super Bowl team. Dwight Clark wasn't bad, but he's not Gronkowski as a weapon, either. I always picture Elway as more of a Randall's kind of guy.He has Elway's vote, or at least he did a few years ago. Maybe John's changed his mind. I'll ask him next time I bump into him at the Piggly Wiggly.
and some actually do read it and do enjoy it. It's part of a bigger section on random sports takes from the weekend. It's not really a dedicated section. The movie stuff carries for about 2 months out of the year.Put another way, it was 2 out of 10 bullet points in your column, thus 20%.
But hey, this is your BBQ, so if you want to talk about euro soccer leagues, that's your prerogative. Just know that the great majority of subscribers skip over that section every week, just like I do.
