Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (Breakdown on each coach on Tom Herman's staff...)

i like the men's choice but if we give Aston an extension we need to just admit we are Mulkey's bitch & she can just kick the shit out of us 2 or 3 times a year
I just need to see CDC move two coaches out at the same time before I believe it.

We should sit down for lunch and brainstorm column ideas one day.

The old coaches weren’t bad. Each one landed a another coaching gig. If the new guys are slight upgrades, this program should be in the Big 12 title game. Just look at what Naivar’s fresh set of eyes accomplished against Utah in the Alamo Bowl.
Naivar’s results against Utah exemplified how horrible Orlando was as a DC.

... In week two of its existence, the XFL didn't so much as garner one second of my time, although I did see some players for one of the teams shotgunning some beers after a shutout, so there's that.

Yep. LMAO "it's football" Guy when asking "who the hell will watch." I only assume that Guy isn't married and certainly has no kids.

1. Jeff Walz (Louisville)

Quick thoughts: As a head coach, he's been to the Final Four three different times, including a spot two years ago. On top of that, he has a proven reputation as a recruiter and is only 48 years old, which means that Texas could be getting him at a time when he'll consistently be in the conversation as one of the top 5-10 coaches in the country for the next 10-15 years. The stumbling blocks would be the $1.15 million per year he currently makes and the fact that he's been at Louisville for more than a decade. Yet, if you're Texas, this is the type of hire you should be making if you're truly trying to be elite.

That's one of the coaches I targeted before the season. Honestly, the salary isn't that big of a deal IMO.

Because I was specifically challenged to do so. No real reason other than that.

Will be interesting to hear you thoughts on the possible availability of Beilein. If you haven't already in the subsequent 3+ pages.

Brad Pitt was awesome in a River Runs Through It. It probably warrants a top 10 spot also because it was really his breakthrough role.

I wouldn't call the group at Baylor extremely talented either but they're in the middle of a 22-23 game winning streak and the #1 team in the country with less talent than what is currently in Austin.

Yep. Honestly, Drew's had a few teams with better individual parts then this one. I mean, will any of them even play in the NBA?

I wouldn't call them extremely talented. That's a big part of the issue right now.

Hmmm, yes and no. Are we the Anthony Davis-led '11-'12 UK team? Of course not. But our season is WAY below the level of talent on the team.

Legends of the Fall May be one of the worst movies ever made. Good lord.

Yeah, but dollars involved in this are quite different. Aston makes pennies compared to the nation's elite and if Texas wants elite, it's going to cost them beyond the scale of what they've previously been committed to.

That's still not much. Aston makes about $800k. Even if you pay an elite HC $500+ more than that you are still only talking $3-$4 mil over 6 years. Not that big of a deal.

No mention of the job he did with Roschon?

The best thing you can say: His year of work in 2019 was pretty damn good. In addition to landing a five-star out of state running back, he help turned a true freshman quarterback into a solid immediate contributor amid an injury crisis and the team climbed into the top 50 in terms of national running game numbers without leaning on its starting quarterback to carry a tremendous load.

we'll see. Aston is currently making pennies compared to her peers.

For some reason, I thought she was making less.

Missed it, my mistake. Thanks!

LOL. Triggered early. Ironic response for someone claiming rent free status. =)roll
Tell you what, you have a wonderful day. ;)

IMO,much like the softball coach, WBB is a place where CDC can make a "splash" for relative peanuts for a department that earns well north of $200 mil annually.

I have a hunch he’ll penny pinch.
