Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (Eddie Reese is UT's GOAT)

Good for Kerr then. Honestly, I'm not sure about the fauxrage over Pop. Particularly since he's been doing this for some time now. We hear discussions all the time late in the NFL season about whether teams should rest certain players in final week or 2 when their playoff positions are pretty much set. And nobody talks about "robbing the fans." Move on.
all I said was that it was weak sauce.

It's not like I suggested anyone die over the issue. There are only about 10 games on the Spurs schedule that are remotely interesting out of 82 and half the time the players don't play.

Is Pop above a tiny bit of criticism? A smidge?

We MUST have justice!!!

By justice, I'm only asking that he has some consideration.

Why take the second night of a back to back off if OKC is in the back-end? Rest your players in the first night.

While I would love that to be the case, what are you basing that on? He was a good HS QB, but certainly doesn't have the HS skins that Heard has. Where is the proof of his "alpha-ness?"

Heard's lack of true 'alpha-ness' was on full display last season once opponents had his number following the Cal game. He didn't look like an alpha against ND either.

That is not what I am asking. Someone said, maybe you, that Buechele was an alpha male. My only question is where is this info coming from. He wasn't as successful as Heard in HS, and he hasn't played a down of college ball. I'd like to see it first.

He is still cheating the fans and have admitted as much. That's the point. If he were just resting his players, why would he send them home before the game? He is thumbing his nose at the league that's why they have been fined.
Dude, those two players were hurt. They didn't sit them out as part of a plan to simply rest tired players.

So before you lecture me about not knowing what I'm talking about, know what you're talking about, first.

Iguadala has been dealing with an ankle injury all month. Meanwhile, Bogut was also injured and missed the game directly after the Sours with a left foot/toe injury.

Kerr has been steadfast in his position that he will not rest his players on the back end of back-to-backs leading up to the end of the season.

Use a Google search. It can be your friend.

Actually what Kerr said is that he would let the players have a strong say in whether they rest, and oh BTW a BIG part of their motivation for playing is that they are in fact chasing the Bulls' 72-10 record. Last season they rested guys late in the year when they had locked up the number one seed with a couple of weeks to go in the reg. season. The last two years Curry hasn't played in numerous 4th quarters, the majority of those being at home. Is he cheating fans?

Pop tried to stick it to Stern in Miami 3-4 years ago. I'm not disputing that. Pop and the Spurs resented that they were playing their 4th game in 5 days and then being put on National TV on TNT at the Miami Heat. All of which was detailed in a great article by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski, in which he (AW) believed that Stern himself had been trying to stick it to Pop and the Spurs for various things.

Where you are wrong, Ketch, is when you state that sticking it to the league is Pop's be all and end all motivation for sitting guys. It just simply isnt the case. In a few cases, in the past, it was. Pop has done it for 7-8 season. He started reducing Duncan's minutes when he turned 31. He's 39 now and still playing. Who has been right here?

So, is it your assertion that Timmy, Manu, and Tony are OLDER, or younger than they used to be? Because if they are, maybe doing MORE often would seem to follow the natural progression of his system. As for resting LaMarcus, why NOT rest him on the night when you have 4 other stars resting? No sense risking him doing too much when he is the lone starter out there besides Danny Green. Also, no need to risk losing another game because you decided to rest LA on a different night than you rested your other players. It's part of Pop's strategy, has been for years, and the only trolling is done on folks who wish they had a team good enough to rest multiple starters on a given night. Where was the criticism of Steve Kerr for doing the same thing a few weeks ago? Against the Spurs, no less...

Some of these guys also forget that the Spurs always seem to have the shortest off season. That's what happens when you more often than not make a deep run into the playoffs. Playoff games are always much more intense than regular season games.

Many of the key players play for the international teams.

Many of of those key players frequently play for national teams and they happen to be a little long in the tooth. Tired legs often lead to injuries.

The Spurs have 4 maybe 5 important, some may even say key players like Duncan, Parker, Ginobili that are rapidly approaching 40 and I believe the Spurs as a whole are the oldest team in the league or close to it.

The approach must work; the Spurs have the highest win percentage of all American professional sports. They've got a list of personal and team records longer than my....well you get the point. The approach has gotten him a couple of NBA championships, they make the playoffs every year; more often than not healthy with a full compliment of players.

Thunder are resting both Durant and Ibaka tonight vs Pistion. Damn those Thunder for resting their players and robbing the Detroit fans!!!

The very thing people are criticizing the Spurs for doing on Saturday, they just did. Why? Because they clinched the 3rd seed last night, just like the Spurs had clinched the 2nd seed the game before they played the Thunder. It's also a back-to-back for the Thunder. Again, just like the Spurs had on Saturday.

You made very good points. All I'm saying is the Spurs do it way more than anyone else. Every team will rest players at some point of the season. And as you see KD is still in Detroit and signed autographs before the game. They didn't send KD and Serge home.

They kinda have to. Their core players who still contribute mightily went to school with your grandfather.

I didn't say that.
You strongly implied it:

"Let's not pretend like this isn't something that he has done more and more of in recent years. He does it to thumb his nose at the league as much as anything.

Again, there was no reason for Aldridge to sit the other night, other than Pop wanted to troll the league."

Those are your own words. I'm just making a counter argument. I'm not on a "How dare you question Pop" sort of crusade. I just believe in where he's coming from on this issue. Plus, I want to win this argument! Lol
