Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (FIRE!!!!!!!!)

What? No mention of the pig meltdown that was Arkansas losing to the equivalent of a sub-tulane team? Come on man, give me something to laugh at.

I've listed ample evidence.

Perhaps you'd like to list a similar situation where a player of Serena's stature received such a punishment in a final.

Just one.
Here is the extent of my knowledge of the situation:

"... My Serena hot-take - I thought she was out of line in losing her mind to the chair umpire, but I'm also not going to pretend that the chair umpire pulled the kind of power play that would never be attempted against a male with the stature of Williams. I don't know what the hell is going on with the tennis world right now, but it these moments of disrespect against Williams seem to be occurring a lot. That being said, Serena has to be better than that because she essentially let that moment define the entire weekend."

What'd the chair umpire do and why?

"correct. There's plenty of evidence with that specific umpire and men players."

And your link shows men and women berating an umpire and not getting penalties.

An easier question is what coaches (both HC and coordinators) that we have run off, aren’t doing better than when they were at Texas?
GDGD
Bedford
Akina, if he counts
Mac Duff
Mack
Watson seems like he still sucks from what I can tell.

Really you're only talking about Manny Diaz and Charlie.

How the world views our football program:

Mexico:
Chupamos hasta que no lo hacemos
France:
Nous sucons jusqu'à ce que nous n'ayons pas
Germany:
Wir saugen, bis wir es nicht tun
Italy:
Facciamo schifo finché non lo facciamo
Russia:
Мы сосать, пока не получим
Sweden:
Vi suger tills vi inte gör det

“We suck until we don’t?”

Good 10 Thoughts.

Yelling "Fire!" is probably pretty tame compared to what will be said around here in the next six weeks.

We're in trouble, and it's much more serious than I thought it would be by simply having to clean house on the offensive side of the ball.

I'm not saying I'm right, just that that's been my perception.
Absolutely fair, just thinking that it’s less about age than trust we’re getting the right guy.

I think we’d take someone that was 100 years old if we knew they’d be the one to turn it around. Guaranteed we’d take Saban right now, even if for a little while, long enough to kickstart a resurgence.

Honestly I think Patterson would be welcomed with open arms if there was just a hint he could do that.

So doesn't that mean another "up and comer"?

UT is paying $5.5M/year. Jimbo make $7.5M per year. You can't suggest that CDC is going to (potentially) fire Herman and pay the next guy less than Herman, right?

There's 5-7guys making between $5.5M and $7.5M. I don't think any of them is leaving their respective school.

Do you think its realistic that Texas fires Herman after the 2019 season and hires another group of 5 coach or P5 coordinator?

After Charlie Strong and (maybe) Tom Herman, do you think another hire from the Mountain West or AAC will be well received? When you're talking about an athletic department with a $200M budget, does it really make sense to go cheap(er) here?

I don't think any decision-maker remotely knows what the move would be.

What time did the USC game end last year locally?

Where was ESPN's Game Day?

What was the highest rated game of the weekend?

What national writers raved about UT's performance afterwards?

That's some hoopla of uncertain significance, but it doesn't change the fact that they lost. Moral victories have the most appeal as the game clock expires. But they always lose their luster over time. So it will be with the ags' loss last night. It will get more bitter as it ages.

No,the fact that it happened at Kyle Field with a monster group of recruits in town matters significantly.

Now will the luster go away? Very probably. Texas can still be staring down the barrel of a gun in 2020. Those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Have you watched Texas football the last eight years?

I think @Ron Mexico12 is talking about what other schools are doing rather than Texas killing itself over and over.

As an example, OU is looking as strong as they ever have coming off of a playoff appearance and Heisman winner, while Aggy didn't bring in Jimbo to play by the rules.

I’ll give you Bedford.
Akina is at Stanford, pretty sure a much better place.
Larry Mac Duff probably too far back.

Major? Diaz? Wickline? Rumph?

Just to name a few who we deemed sucked at coaching

Point is we’ve had a lot of coaches come through that based on their previous stops were supposed to fix this crap. To date, it’s not fixed but everyone thinks firing more coaches will fix the mess we are seeing.

Just asking the question.

Nice write-up Ketch. I like the comparison of a player with a big game to his recruiting peer group, but I hope that doesn’t permanently displace story time with Uncle Ketch. Hope they both can make regular appearances.

He clearly doesn't have answers right now.

He has a high school QB running a high school offense. Add to that the ridiculous misuse of talent (RB, TE, and LB) and we are playing 9 against 11.

Herman may be great at details, but he sucks at the big picture.
