Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (Great stuff, not so great stuff and Elmo shrugs...)

1.I agree with the now or never need for Okafor to step up this spring. For all the OB love, he wasn't remotely in the hunt to move ahead of Kerstatter as the 6th lineman. He better make a big move or the senior transfers and Kerstatter will bury him.
2. I agree Young better step up in the spring or we'll bring in a senior transfer.
2.Is it possible that Adeloye's name surfaced so much in fall camp because McCullough was playing out of position at B Backer?

Still not really what the term means as a literary term.
well, at least you're not trying to be too literal.

You might be giving Kerstetter a bit too much credit. Given Okafor had already blown through 2 seasons, the staff very well could have viewed a redshirt for Okafor as higher priority in the grand scheme of Hand rebuilding the depth on the OL. Given Kerstetter got blown out of his job after just one very poor half against Maryland, I'm not sure he's in position to "bury" anyone.

Not sure why you keep overlooking RoJo. FWIW, that might not necessarily be a true statement about 2021. What if our QB play is not stellar that season? come Spring of '22 there is very likely a battle in that scenario.

Roschon is so far behind in the passing game right now. I love his mental makeup and hope he proves me wrong. I think they’ve already recruited over RJ with the commitment of Card. And yes if someone struggles in 21’ there would be a battle in 22’ but that goes for every season.

So because we got a QB committed for '20 that means the '19 guy is already recruited over before event taking a spring ball snap? I doubt SERIOUSLY Herman is ever going to have a class that DOESN'T include a QB. I mean sh*t, if Preston Stone commits does that mean we already recruited over Card? We finally have breathing room in the QB room for development and TWO years is a long time where a lot can happen in the development of individuals. IMO, the notion we have "recruited over" Johnson is frankly silly.

Of course not... I’m saying Hudson is a better player.

Well, you sorta are. Main point is that we aren't expecting a successor to Sam until 2021 at the earliest. VY could barely throw his true frosh season. Back in the glorious days of open practices. 2 years leaves a lot of room for growth as a player.

VY was the #1 recruit in the nation for a reason that’s a bad example

He may turn into a heck of a QB but Hudson is already a better prospect JMO.

Who do you think takes over for Sam?

Honestly, I don't know. I really like Card as a prospect but so I do Johnson. The thing I'm grateful for is we are finally stockpiling quality candidates that won't be forced into action.

I think that Leonard Davis gets knocked for not having a great pro career. I would put him in my top 2-3 UT all-time o-line. He is above Blalock for me.

Of course, some of those guys, like Bobby Wuensch, played before I was born. I will note (via wikipedia - since I had to look him up) that Wuensch was a 12th round draft pick and never played in the NFL so Ketch was not taking his pro career into account when evaluating him.

Fair enough but if we bring in the senior transfers it's probably an either or for Kerstatter and Okafor in 2019.

Meh, it’s a ford

Really glad everyone is alright

Please never kiss a car dealer’s ass again. For every known owner of a prosperous website with thousands of readers that gets special treatment, there’s a single mother that’s been given the run around. It looks like an advertisement, which smells of quid pro quo, even if it isn’t.
I have thought about this some and decided I can't just let this one slide.

First, I have done business with Covert on multiple occasions, as have many satisfied posters on this board. Dan is an advertiser on the site, but has also been more than generous in helping sponsor the OB Tailgate. I have yet to hear anyone on the site complain about him as a person or a businessman. You have no business dragging him through the mud.

I don't know what bug crawled up your ass at some point in life, but it's ignorant and offensive to unilaterally paint ALL car dealers as some sort of moustache-twirling evil capitalist stereotypes, preying on single mothers and the weak. Again, I have yet to hear a single negative comment on the board from anyone who has had any actual interaction with Dan.

It's also pretty ridiculous to accuse Ketch of 'kissing a car dealer's ass" when all he did was give him a shout out for (gasp!) providing exceptional service and delivering a good product at a fair price.

Here's hoping you just got up on the wrong side of the bed today and shot off a stupid comment before you had your coffee. I'd hate to think you're really this much of a miserable, negative person all the time.

The earliest would be 2020...

David was an excellent pro. He just wasn't excellent at tackle.

True. Although I would be a bit stunned if it were. I tend to be pretty cynical, but in this case, I don't see Sam as a guy that would leave Texas early.

He also wasn't as good as Blalock in college. Honestly, I think Mike Williams was better as a senior tackle than Davis was.

As far as all time best OLs, Bob McKay is in the College Football Hall of Fame. He was better than everyone on the list except Sisemore. Not close as to the others. Dan Neil was a center, McKay was a dominant tackle. Also, while people remember him as a linebacker, Tommy Nobis was the best guard we ever had. Not a good list.
Neil was a guard and one of the best in school history.

I find Leonard to have been underrated in his time here. He'd have been a true legend if he'd just arrived a few years later.

Merhinks thou protest too much.

That's kind of richly ironic, given your original post in the thread.

There’s no irony here. I’m guilty of nothing. The other guy calling me out, he’s suspicious. As are you. Do you get paid advertising dollars by Covert? Are you a social justice warrior? Do you think that there’s ever been one hapless mother who’s been stuffed by Covert? Just take you’re stinking advert off the article. Keep it where it belongs.

I'm not sure you realize this, but you don't get a vote when it comes to what belongs and what doesn't.

I'm the boss.

Might have to move McComas over from basketball. Who cares about hoops, amiright?;)

Feel bad for McComas. Really enjoy his writing, extra details and the work he puts into his articles but Texas basketball is “meh” while Shaka is still coach.
