I meant that both ways. We're so far apart on the matter that I'm convinced you must think me a buffoon for not seeing it your way.Wow.
Agree that DL is our weakest area, but our talent level is way better from top to bottom. You have to be patient, but the talent is on campus.

Aldridge, Tucker, Gibson, Durant, Augustin, Bradley, Thompson, Joseph, Turner, Allen, Bamba. Of those listed, according to Wiki, all are still in the NBA except Gibson, who had a nice 7 year career.which was yours?
Our line will be good in 2020. Our DL scheme is the real problem. Our lineman mostly fill gaps in the 3 man front instead of being playmakers. We would recruit much better if we ran a base 4-3.Ketch thinks the Dline recruiting has been poor and thus the talent isn’t there. CTH disagrees and I do too.

We need big ends that can also rush the passer. These have to be developed and takes a couple years. Our pass rush has been awful the past few years. We’ve recruited the elite at every position but DL. I think it’s the scheme more than the recruiter.
Not poor, just not where it needs to be.Ketch thinks the Dline recruiting has been poor and thus the talent isn’t there. CTH disagrees and I do too.
Oh shit, I just forgot about that. I actually still have it saved in a to-do-list.Aldridge, Tucker, Gibson, Durant, Augustin, Bradley, Thompson, Joseph, Turner, Allen, Bamba. Of those listed, according to Wiki, all are still in the NBA except Gibson, who had a nice 7 year career.
Certainly no school in the Big 12, and possibly the country, has accomplished less with more future NBA talent than Texas since 2006.
Followup B/S; if they made fantasy NBA teams based on Alma Maters right now, Texas finishes first.
Define "Roach is able to get after the quarterback" because I still contend that's open for debate at this point.Solid take. In terms of what this line is asked to do, we have the players IMO. Roach can get after the QB. Coburn and Wilbon will lock down the nose. The key is Graham. He already is a solid run stuffer. If he can take the leap into becoming a solid pass rusher, we are there. Ojomo is the wild card in my book. Kid has talent galore and is only 18 years of age going into his second year. Crazy. He’s the kind of end that could bring the best of both worlds - Roach’s explosiveness and Graham’s girth. He can also play nose.
No worries, I just thought it was a timely question with the tournament and lack of recent success. It feels like we've had MASSIVE talent roll through here and almost nothing to show for it. Now we're going to add Jaxson Hayes to that list. But I'm so Texas-focused that maybe lots of programs have this kind of NBA talent roll through with nothing to show for it?Oh shit, I just forgot about that. I actually still have it saved in a to-do-list.
Forget the tournament, when was the last time a Texas team wind 5 straight?I agree. One and done would not be a surprise.

This will be the first year that Roach has the size and strength to be a plus player as a down lineman. He doesn’t have the length at 6’2 to ba a great pass rusher, and needs to keep getting bigger so he can play DT in the pros.I think his athleticism and explosiveness was easy to see as a freshman. He was poised to be a breakout player. The next two seasons were injury riddled, but still (as Craben states):
Do you disagree that Roach is an explosive athlete? Do you disagree that his per snap production indicates an ability to pressure the QB? Were you not impressed with his limited time at DL late last year? Is it not reasonable to believe that a senior, a leader, an explosive athlete with an entire off season to prepare to play DE, under Giles’ tutelage, will parlay that into success?
- In 2017, Roach had turf toe and only started 3 games, but still recorded 37 tackles, 4 TFL and 2 sacks.
- In 2018, he played LB in fall camp and the first 2 games, then went down with a fractured foot in the 3d game against USC. He didn't return as a DE until the 10th game, but recorded 24 tackles, 1.5 TFL and 2 QB hurries on the season.

I do think he will be have a great year and be our best lineman.
Kareem Hunt, R.O.Y. and rushing champion. Cut the start of his 2nd season for pushing a female to the ground during a heated argument. Looking the other way for Hill would appear children don't matter. I'm not saying he broke the kid's arm, but if true he has played the last for the Chiefs. The Brown's will sign him as they did Hunt . . . .No way IMO.
Roach is not that elite of an athlete IMO.
thank you.
Has he though? Nelson's production in 2017 looks almost identical to Wilbon's in 2018.Nelson wasn't nearly the question mark you just positioned him as. He'd been a much better performer through three years than Wilbon.
RBHe continued to start because there wasn't a better option.
The talent level at Texas has risen across the board... excerpt at defensive line.
