My issue isn't the UGA performance in a vacuum. It's the last 8 games in totality.
I don't think that remotely outweighs the risk, though.I hear what you're saying, but imho it cuts both ways.
I think Texas got a bunch of eye test benefit of the doubt this year all year for the way we worked Michigan over in Ann Arbor with everyone watching.
We all know Michigan turned out to be a JAG team, but even with knowing that, I think the impression Texas made on that early stage lingered in the back of peoples' minds.
Some will see the benefit of that.

Really? But Ketch, you didn't say a word about the OL...
"The offensive line play tonight was an abomination. They got dominated twice by this Georgia defense. Send the Joe Moore Award to a unit that didn't get physically whipped in the two biggest games of its season."
But, Ketch you didn't say anything about the coaching..
"Tonight was not Sark's best night of play-calling. Of course, Kirby Smart is very good. The play-calling in the red-zone in the final 40 seconds and in overtime was just awful."
But, ketch you didn't say anything about the drops...
"Matthew Golden flat out dropped a should-have-been touchdown on 1st and 25 after the offensive pass interference penalty. That was a brutal drop. He has to catch that. How did Golden drop that ball in the end zone and come back and make a much more difficult catch from Ewers on the very next drive? 🤷♂️"
But, ketch you didn't call out the special teams...
"Jeff Banks' special teams... a massive liability today and potentially for the rest of the season. How could you not be ready for a fake punt when the starting punter is out with an injury? I just... smh."
Ketch, why are you blaming EVERYTHING ON QUINN!!!!!!!!
I'm with you more than I'm not. I think Quinn was 7/10 Saturday, but not a major quibble.
It's giving him some share of responsibility for sure.Really?
Ketch...
"Texas doesn't need Quinn to even be that good. They just need him not to be terrible for 30-45 minutes of game time every single week. His floor just needs to rise to the level of pretty good and this team is undefeated."
Yeah, I wouldn't call that blaming Quinn for the loss, or how bout every one of our losses...
I have no doubt about that. It's giving him some share of responsibility for sure.
The numbers say he’s Quinn Ewers with 50 extra yards rushing a game. I get you don’t respect his game, but numbers don’t lie. And you can’t compare the talent level on the teams or the culture. Sam’s team was extorting Texas to remove The Eyes and give money to BLM. And let’s not even discuss the confidence level of scoring at the end of the game and in the red zone.I don't know if I believe that. Sam was capable of some shitty performances.
Yes, people like me do believe that Texas could be better with a different QB. Your thinking is flawed when you say 31 teams should be ranked ahead of us; the quarterback is not the only element that creates a championship team. But when the rest of the elements are in place to be elite, a confident, reliable quarterback can make all the difference in the world between being #5 and #1.Per the QBR ratings, Quinn is the 32nd best QB in the country and yet we are ranked number 5. Per those numbers , at least 31 teams should be ranked ahead of us. In addition, we are the only team in the country to make the college football playoffs for the 2 years it has been played. Dos everyone who has been knocking Quinn’s play for the last 2 years think we could get better with anyone else? Everyone wants Arch now, saying he could or probably would do better than Quinn and I honestly hope he does, but what if he doesn’t? Quinn does have his problems, but based on QBR ratings, he shouldn’t be nor have been the UT QB for the last two years as there are 32 QB’s rated above him.
It's a fallacy to suggest I'm putting all of the accountability and responsibility on his shoulders.I have no doubt about that.
I respect his game. He was simply capable of some rotten performances (see Tech as a senior). The numbers say he’s Quinn Ewers with 50 extra yards rushing a game. I’m confused. You are citing a game he put up 63 points as rotten? Quinn is putting up 16-20 points a game.I respect his game. He was simply capable of some rotten performances (see Tech as a senior).
Going into the fourth quarter of that game, fans were loudly calling for Casey Thompson to replace him.I’m confused. You are citing a game he put up 63 points as rotten? Quinn is putting up 16-20 points a game.
If I'm doing my math correct, there is 60 minutes in a game. I'm guessing Quinn has about half of that time, I think we had the ball about 31 minutes in this game. Of course you need to take out special teams play with the ball. I would say that's a crap ton of blame going toward Mr Quinn since you're saying he's terrible 30 to 45 minutes of game time. Pretty much blame for the whole offense. Good job Ketch, any simpleton thoughts there? It's giving him some share of responsibility for sure.
Data is hard.If I'm doing my math correct, there is 60 minutes in a game. I'm guessing Quinn has about half of that time, I think we had the ball about 31 minutes in this game. Well the remaining 20% was awesome. We put up 63 points and won on the road despite a shit coach and a shit culture. Anyway this is crazy talk. Sam threw for like 360 yards with 5 TD and 1 INT and had 69 yards rushing and a TD. This site, posters and mods, needs to put some respect on Sam’s name. Quinn is a fvcking JAG that has the benefit of tons of super blue chips and a great culture. Sam carried the team to four bowl wins despite Big Herm being the coach.Going into the fourth quarter of that game, fans were loudly calling for Casey Thompson to replace him.
Only a frantic late comeback prevented the loss, but he was wretched for 80% of that game.
We are supposed to accept your informal and misused version of gaslighting? For a guy that says words matter, it sure looks disingenuous to use something other than the correct usage of the term.Every time someone pretends that Ewers played well and has been playing well, they are gaslighting us.
This is not gaslighting.6 dropped passes, including a TD, 31 yards rushing, 6 sacks, a billion hurries because the OL sucked, especially against pressure, 11 penalties, 2 missed FGs. Threw for 358 and was the only reason they were able to move the ball at all.
Yeah, it was Quinn’s fault. F’ing ridiculous take.
Again imo he is the Tony Romo of college football, great stats on paper, but can’t win the big games and undependable in crunch time.1. There is a difference between QE has to be better and what Ketch has done this year regarding the QE narrative he is purporting.
2. If you think that “he’s costing us the game with his poor throwing and inaccurate throws,” is an accurate statement of what happened Saturday then you watched a different game than a lot of us including Sark.
3. You do understand that there isn’t a longhorn fan out there that thinks QE is Tom Brady, Joe Montana or Patrick Mahomes, right?
He wasn't a finalist. He can't win it. Deion was upset he was a finalist. If Travis Hunter wins the Thorpe we’ve got the quite story.
No,, you had that part covered. If I'm doing my math correct, there is 60 minutes in a game. I'm guessing Quinn has about half of that time, I think we had the ball about 31 minutes in this game. Gotta be proactively smart.@Ketchum not exactly related to this column, but just wanted to shout out your “hot take” from the show this morning on Bond and Banks. Couldn’t agree more that those guys need to sit until the semis, not even really sure it should be a hot take. If you can’t beat Clemson and ASU w/o those two guys you’re not good enough anyways, and you really need Bond and Banks as close to 100% as possible for that semi game or it doesn’t really matter imo
You're putting words into my mouth that have never been said. How about you put some respect on my name by correctly representing my thoughts.Well the remaining 20% was awesome. We put up 63 points and won on the road despite a shit coach and a shit culture. Anyway this is crazy talk. Sam threw for like 360 yards with 5 TD and 1 INT and had 69 yards rushing and a TD. Romo had amazing stats. Every year of his career. They aren't the same.Again imo he is the Tony Romo of college football, great stats on paper, but can’t win the big games and undependable in crunch time.
Really? I don't think I said this... This is your quote...No,, you had that part covered.
I for one appreciate that it’s refreshing. For some reason some people no matter what will defend bad play and are afraid to just speak the honest truth? Why is it we can be honest and criticize all professional teams, but when it comes to your college team people wear rose colored glassses? For better or worse, you'll always get honesty and transparency.
And do you know why I said that? Do you understand the context?Really? I don't think I said this... This is your quote...
"Texas doesn't need Quinn to even be that good. They just need him not to be terrible for 30-45 minutes of game time every single week. His floor just needs to rise to the level of pretty good and this team is undefeated."
amenI for one appreciate that it’s refreshing. For some reason some people no matter what will defend bad play and are afraid to just speak the honest truth? Why is it we can be honest and criticize all professional teams, but when it comes to your college team people wear rose colored glassses?
I’ve always found that kinda funny. I mean I get it that they graduated from that school, but where in the rule book does it say you can’t criticize bad play?
I for one would like nothing more than to see QE do really well because obviously that means my Horns are winning and playing well, but when a player is obviously struggling why can’t we hope for him to get better or be replaced?
My comparison was that while most loved Romo and had great stats, he could never win the big games or playoffs and seems to me this will be legacy for QE nice player and good decent stats but never won the big games.Romo had amazing stats. Every year of his career. They aren't the same.
That is fine; however, remember some of us accept QE for who and what he is as player and not for what we want him to be. I think there are very few fans that think QE is something that he isn't.Again imo he is the Tony Romo of college football, great stats on paper, but can’t win the big games and undependable in crunch time.
I would bet any amount of money that QE won’t sniff the first or second round NFL draft, he’s a third or fourth round choice if he’s lucky, he could easily go completely undrafted because of his injury history.Ketch, your points about Quinn (the math) seem extremely valid, even prophetically telling. The big question then: How many of the coaching staff & advisors, or CDC, read OB? Will any of them gain any benefit from it, benefit that might actually change the prophesied trajectory? Or is Sark's QB mentor identity or his "loyalty" too tied up in Quinn, fearing that replacing him would destroy his 1st round pick potential, to admit Quinn's failure, even though not making the change will cost Sark his 1st natty?
While I agree that having a healthy Bond is a plus for the offense, I will go ahead and add gas to the fire and suggest that the bigger factor in Bond's productivity is who is running the offense.Gotta be proactively smart.
That's the thing Ketch, you of all people should realize that your words matter. And you know good and well, that statement is just false. Yes, fans always blame the QB for losses and give them too much credit for wins. But you know better than to say what you're saying on this. The play calling in the second half set up Quinn to fail many times with the slow developing plays. Quinn played well enough for us to win this game. The 2nd half play calling was a huge reason for our coming up short. And do you know why I said that? Do you understand the context?
Well let’s think about that statement for a second. You might remember that when he signed with Texas 3 years ago he was touted as the number one QB in the country the best at his position. That is fine; however, remember some of us accept QE for who and what he is as player and not for what we want him to be. I think there are very few fans that think QE is something that he isn't.
