My bar for RT this year has always been make the tournament and he should get another season.
If Texas misses tournament then the bar is will the program be better or worse next year if RT comes back?
If the answer to second question after missing the tournament is NO then it is time to make a change.
You made a great point about post football. Tucker certainly seems to be a guy that very well could have enjoyed quite a nice media career post NFL. Honestly this whole saga is just so bizarre to comprehend
JMO, but I already said if we miss the tournament then I have zero issue with CDC cutting him loose. The contract buyout is relatively chump change for those at the grown up table of collegiate athletics. I pretty much expect CDC to do just that
The facts are he hasnt shown he can build and develop a roster. His inherited team performed up to expectation. His next team was significantly worse then his first. This is the first year with a roster he is primarily responsible for and its significantly worse. We know what this team is, solidly mediocre, either poorly constructed or poorly coached. The results are what they are.
So let’s say the “results” end up including the Sweet 16 this season you think he needs to go?
I believe this is a roster of players that could make the sweet 16 based on talent. I also believe there is a better chance of missing the tournament then advancing to the sweet 16. If by some miracle they do make the sweet 16 you have to keep Terry. Its a results driven business and his results would require another year.

In all honesty, there’s really no way I would give us better odds of making the Sweet 16 than missing the tournament. but like you said, at some point the results will be what they are and I expect CDC to decide accordingly
I don’t really understand why OBs ever debates the fate of a coach when the team is still eligible for post season success. The answer will be obvious once the season is done.
Nope. I’m getting older, but I love all types of music. I thought the 2022 Dr. Dre/Snoop/Eminem show was really good. But I found KL to be boring and the accompanying music was flat out awful. I would rank that show at the bottom of the Suoerbowl shows that I can remember.

You are in for a treat. And the adapted screenplay is a marvel.
You must have a unicorn that craps ice cream as a result, too, because that’s how likely we are to be in the second weekend.
The reason is that many of us have been invested in UT men’s hoops for many years and are tired of seeing RT getting his ass out-coached almost every game the last two years (which are destined to be sub-.500 in conference games again). If Kentucky’s coach had our roster Saturday and RT had his, Pope would have won that game going away.

Rational is knowing that a mediocre coach is going to produce poor results in a tough, if not the toughest, conference. Irrational people point to the Elite 8 year as some kind of proof of excellence.
Just for comparisons sake vs last year at this time (heading into spring ball), it really doesn't seem as drastic as I thought. With a force multiplier at QB we just need a few guys to step up.
QB: Neutral. That's fine if you want to say Ewers was more proven last February, but I think everyone expects this to be at least as good, or an upgrade.
RB: Upgrade or Neutral. Assuming health, I think we should upgrade with our top rusher back, 2 good recruits coming in, the former top back in the country coming off injury.
OL: Downgrade. Banks and Majors were proven. Everyone wanted Conner benched and he proved everyone wrong. DJ and Cam were unproven commodities. One hit the other didn't. IMO we have a proven OT in Goosby (arguable) and not much else. If we can either get someone in the inetrior to step up or get a spring portal guy I could see this not being much of a drop off.
TE: Neutral. Helm was totally unproven and everyone (including coaches) agreed. Worked out fine and could again.
WR: Downgrade. At least at this point. That said, a lot of that was because of Bond who really didn't make much of an impact. Matthew Golden was coming off a season where he was the 3rd leading receiver on Houston. Could we see a similar jump that Golden had with someone on the roster? (Moore or Wingo). If we can snag a portal guy and get Wingo level production from a freshmen we are probably just fine.
If mediocre coach goes Elite 8 and Sweet 16 in first three years …….. is that tough enough? I can’t wait for the discussions of how RT still suxxxx. I don’t imagine OB will back down. How bout you ?
I’ll be stunned and happy to see us get to the Sweet 16 this year - it’s just about a 10% shot considering the team is a 50/50 shot to even make the field.

I don't see how anyone could possibly say that about RB. The OL is a major downgrade. So is TE. Helm played almost 500 snaps in 2023. Suggesting that is what is coming up in the pike is the same is incorrect.
