Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (On schedule vs. Ahead of schedule - does it matter?)

Didn’t read any of the replies.

But I wanted to go on record as saying that I intentionally haven’t seen most of those movies, and the ones that I did see, I only saw it once.
We probably wouldn't hang out together, but that's ok. Takes all kinds in this world.

The season this year reminds me of the most? 1999. Let's look at the parallels.

1. Mack's 2nd year at Texas/Herman's 2nd year at Texas.
2. You start the year off with an early loss as a heavy favorite against an inferior ACC team (NC State/Maryland).
3. You follow that loss with a big win over a Pac-12 team (Stanford/USC).
4. You have a sophomore QB who develops into an all-Big 12 level player in year 2 (Major/Ehlinger).
5. You beat Oklahoma.
6. You have a 1,100+ yard receiver on the team (Cavil/Humphrey)
7. You have a huge win in October over a top 5 team who is competing for a national title (Nebraska/Oklahoma).
8. After beating that top 5 team in October, you go on to lose to that same team by double digits in the Big 12 Title game.
9. You play in a New Years Day Bowl game against an SEC team.
10. Your team deals with multiple player suspensions (Humphrey/Cavil in 99, Johnson/Boyd/Davis in 2018).
11. If Texas goes on to lose to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl as most expect, both teams will finish with identical 9-5 records.

Here is the only thing I want for Christmas:

For OU not to have a Heisman caliber QB on the freaking team.

I don't know the answer and I'm too lazy to look it up, but how many QB's has OU had since Stoopes got there, that weren't (or never became) serious Heisman candidates?

Those mouth breathers deserve to whiff on a QB at least once or twice right?
Texas 2010-2017 will come calling eventually

Yeah, so the perfect storm in the NFC east is going to allow the Cowboys to win the division, but it means Garrett is still the coach of your Dallas Cowboys and Dak is your QB. Ugh. Just when I was all ready to take the loss this season for the greater long term good, the football gods tease me with a thin flat iron steak, when a hearty bone-in ribeye with all the sides and dessert could have been around the corner. Now, I’m gonna have to savor the little flat iron steak and forget the possibility of my ribeye, knowing there won’t be any dessert coming after. Oh, and there’s still the possibility that next year my favorite restaurant collapses and I’m back to spaghetti O’s.
That's absolutely perfect.

QUOTE="Ketchum, post: 11576709, member: 20"]I think he'll probably end up more than ok.
Oh really, how insightful !!![/QUOTE]
I mean... not insightful, but probably stating the obvious.

After the comments he has made all season I think Ketchum would be totally ashamed to express ANY joy from ANYTHING the cowboys end up doing.

tongue in cheek remark. He's going to get paid big by the Cowboys.

It’ll be interesting to see how they do it but they’ve got to hang onto Zeke Coop and Lawrence. If they are going with Dak hopefully they’ll come up with a cap friendly contract that’s based off his level of play.

Yup, it's an alarming situation from my perspective.

You'll probably manage to get over it.

They should draft a qb next year, be prepared to let Dak walk the following year and possibly draft another qb in ‘20

Nothing like one fan telling another fan how they should feel or act as a fan, but yeah, @Dave C2, I'm lame...

They are going to p-a-y Dak. No sweetheart, hometown discount.
I know they are. But they shouldn’t

Where would you put him in regards to these average annual salaries over contracts signed the last two years?

Rodgers $33MM
Ryan $30MM
Cousins $28MM
Garoppolo $27.5MM
Stafford $27MM
Carr $25MM
Alex Smith $23.5MM
Keenum $18MM

Cousins' contract will **** a lot of teams over.

He needs to be in the Keenum range.

I’m of the opinion they can ... Would love a new HC and OC
You of the opinion that they can... IF... they have a new HC and OC?

So, you don't believe in reality, just in pretend-land?:D

I think the Cowboys can win a SB with Dak. But not if they overpay him. The Cowboys need to keep emphasizing defense and OL. It's amazing how interchangeable a QB and even a RB can be if the OL is great.
The OL ain't that great.
