Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (OU just doesn't matter as much any more...)

I know it's going to be tough for some of y'all, but the old ways of life in the Big 12 just don't matter as much any more.

They still matter some, just not as much. Denying that is denying the future.

I definitely understand your point of the article but losing to ou will never be downplayed or acceptable in my book.

@Ketchum agree 1000% on AD Mitchell. I just hope their QB can get him the ball enough. I question some of the guys taken ahead of him in round 2. Mconkey? Polk?

OU isn't even a talking point on this board beyond this week.

Of course, they matter. They just matter less.

They just took the transfer DT we wanted in a head to head portal recruitment battle.

That was kind of a big deal and happened a couple days ago.

Correct.

And before that...

Like I.said, I've done 100+ shows on Youtube in 2024 and almost none of them have been about OU.

Do you know how different that is?

Do you not understand the nuance that makes those two games different?
Is your point that the A&M game matters more for recruiting when both programs are mediocre? If so, that doesn’t translate to writing off OU going forward. They have shown they care enough about this to fire venables if he doesn’t work out and go hire at the top of the available pool. And they have plenty of money and can sell the SEC just like we can

I can't believe the point needs to be explained. 🤷‍♂️

Probably because your YouTube show is about Texas football and your co host is an Aggy.

Doesn’t change the fact that the red river shootout is one the biggest rivalries in college football, and that won’t be changing anytime soon.

We still directly battle OU for Texas recruits, especially in the metroplex.

They have a 5 star sophomore QB that is good enough that they let Gabriel walk.

Like I said, I think OU is tied for the second biggest game on our schedule next year with Aggy and behind Georgia.

Michigan and Florida rank a notch below because they are expected to be worse than their average standard.

How much a dollar cost? Is Kendrick’s greatest song . At least president Obama agrees with me . 😊 love Kendrick’s use of Radiohead tracks

I think we would like to believe you Ketch… but the sooners are a problem.. until they’re not.

Sark cannot go 1-3 against them in 2024. Can’t accept that.
Yep we’ve been saying they won’t be this year for 20 freaking years. It’s time to put them through a decade of misery. That’s why they always beat us even when we are good because it matters more to them.

I think I see the overall point but some of the reason OU isn't being discussed is that it's not the shiny new thing- that spawns a lot of other discussion.

I agree that OU isn't going to be a contender for the SEC title.

But losing to them sucked last year. It worked out, but we were a lot better than them and shouldn't have lost to them. That game is everything to them. We owe them some payback.

I don't think the program itself will have a just another game attitude about it.

OU has won because they’ve been the better coached team for the last 25 years.
Coaching Matters.
In Sark I Trust. This Is The Way.

No 'Father Time' on the Kendrick list? Not even Honorable mention.

OU has an 8 decade history of great and championship level football and will be very much a factor in the SEC and the playoffs making the game in October even more important over time. There will be about 20 ish teams that regularly make the playoffs that you will need to mark on the calendar as huge and those games effect seeding, bowl choice position, home playoff advantage, recruiting and OU will be one of them. Aggy with no similar history whatsoever. That game will be big for recruiting and in-state chest puffing, but the OU will be more about championships and the seeding.

Splain it to me like I’m five

a. Texas hasn't played A&M in a decade-plus.
b. That game impacts recruiting more than the OU game does.
c. It's a road game at the end of the season and not a neutral site game at the end of the season.
