(2010) Cam Newton - Started in year one.
I see we’re just now making stuff up. Cam Newton sat two years in Florida. Left for Blinn and started one year then to Auburn. So he started in D1 in year FOUR.

Honestly, that shouldn't one included because that was a JUCO rating. Good catch. I'll take it out.,I see we’re just now making stuff up. Cam Newton sat two years in Florida. Left for Blinn and started one year then to Auburn. So he started in D1 in year FOUR.
I can't keep debating your assessment that Bryce Young waiting by one quarterback until year two to start is the same as another quarterback waiting for two quarterbacks and at least his third year to start.Wut? I didn’t realize this was 2025. You literally just took your ball and ran home. Well done
I think the shipmate's bong hit, obvious philandering and complete disintegration of the his last [three] jobHell, you never know... This place is thirsty.
That's fair.I think the shipmate's bong hit, obivous philandering and complete disintegration of the his last [three] jobwill keep his options limited. I look for him as the new Aggie coach after this season.

Thoughts on the other 17 examples?
Thoughts on the fact that there are 17 examples and not one of them ever waited to start until their third year.Thoughts on how the other 17 played? I mean at first glance I don’t think playing year one or year 2 is somehow a real sign that greatness is inevitable. At the end of the day, I think this Murphy/Manning deal is really 10 months away at earliest. Murphy likely is the backup this season. I would be stunned if 7 months from now Ewers is projected to be on our roster in ‘24. I’m just not ready to declare it’s an indictment of Arch if he somehow can’t beat out Murphy in ‘24.
You guys pick some weird hills to fight on. Lol.

If you think you've won the point, have it.

It's never happened. Mallett is probably the closest example of those 17 players for it not going smoothly, given that he ioinly made a few starts before moving closer to home. He's definitely the full time start at Arkansas in year two if eligible.
I always laugh when Slater Martin is mentioned. He is my grandmother's first cousin and I had no idea until she came back from his funeral. "I just got back from my cousin's funeral. I think he played basketball at UT but he wasn't very tall." Then she told me his name and I let her know that he was a legend.5. Slater Martin
The only former Longhorns player currently in the Basketball Hall of Fame. The 7-time NBA All-Star was also a 5-time league champion.
The bottom line is there isn't an example in the last 20 years where a player of Manning's stature has waited three years. And how many of those 17 were on a roster as a true frosh that had two older prospects the level of Ewers and Murphy? For a guy who preaches “context matters” you’re sorta turning a blind eye for the sake of this discussion.

It’s a shame really. It pretty certain with just one more fully healthy season in his prime he would be a HOF’er. His numbers are right there with what seems to be the cut off.He was one of the last ones out.
At the end of the day, he made the Pro Bowl once and was All-Pro once.
Ricky has 2K more rushing yards than Priest with almost identical receiving yards and receiving TDs. At his best Ricky was a better NFL player than Priest IMO. It’s close but I’d go with Ricky.Over whom? I mean, if we’re being honest Ricky wasn’t even a better pro than Priest. Really not even close.

Was it a typo last week when you said “put it in black permanent marker”? Understandable if so.Yup, typo. Thanks for the heads upl.

Barring something completely unforeseen such as an injury or him deciding to become a bank manager, Ewers seems destined to become only the second Texas quarterback in the last 75 years to be drafted in the first two rounds.
====================================================================
After Ewers is drafted, give me your best guess how many QB's Texas will have drafted in the first two rounds of the 2025-2034 drafts? How many if you include QB's who start at Texas but finish somewhere else? For sake of this assume Sarkisian is the coach here all this time.
I'm going to say 3 Texas QB's in the first two rounds, and 4 if we include QB's who start here but transfer somewhere else.
I don't get it.Was it a typo last week when you said “put it in black permanent marker”? Understandable if so.
me error in not comprehending Durant was on the lista. Tom went to my high school. He was seriously considered.
b. Durant is literally No.1 on the list. Did you mean someone else?
He was one of the last ones out.

Both Priest and Jamaal were right there, along with Earl Thomas.Priest was a better pro.
Fair enough.Born in ‘92, attended UT ‘11-‘12, watched the OU domination with sparse UT upsets.
Quinn Ewers, Sark and that defense destroyed the Gooners unlike any QB I’ve ever seen. I got to sit in a Texas bar in NYC with my best buddy (whose wedding I’m standing up in, also a UT fan) and drank Shiner beer with blood on our breath talking about “I want 80 points for the tiebreaker with Colt”
That’s Quinn’s legacy to me.
What about Scottie? If we’re being realistic, Spieth has already been a better pro golfer than Crenshaw.

Crenshaw and Kite is what I was asking.Scottie to Spieth or Scottie to Crenshaw/Kite? To this point Scottie has nothing on Spieth. Not saying he’s not off to a helluva career but it’s not yet to Spieth’s level.
The numbers don’t lie. You are right though that it isn’t that close. Ricky has 25% more NFL rushing yards than Priest.Oh my. One of them at his best was a OPOY and a 3 time All Pro. The other is Ricky Williams. It really isn’t that close.
