I was just about to say there isn’t a single black guy out there that would rank BOB as their #1 song, but I’m certainly now wrong.
But I’ll say this. In the same way people consider Eminem one of the best rappers ever, you won’t ever hear him being played in any locker room.
Same with BOB. It’s the white person song of choice along with Hey Ya. Just sayin
Another way to put it in context….BOB deserves its place in the pantheon of rap, but if you listen to 8Ball & MJG you don’t have BOB in your top 10.

It turned into a pop song due to how phenomenal it was, not the other way around. I pretty much listened to nothing but southern rap during that time and 8 ball and MJG was elementary compared to the lyrics and production of even OutKast’s earliest albums. The only duo that belongs in the same breath as OutKast is UGK., and the only group as influential in southern rap as OutKast is three six mafia.
