Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (What happened in Waco should be personal for all of us...)

Everybody keeps talking about all the talent Charlie recruited, but I haven't seen it on the field. There were three or four guys on defense
and three or four guys on offense who showed better than mediocre talent this last year. Tell me who on offense other than Boo, Williams,
Foreman and Duvernay showed any sign of being a great talent. On defense, Roach and Hager look like the real deal but that's about it.
Our linebackers and defensive backs were non-covering, non-tackling embarrassments . So who exactly is all this super talent?

The university via Perrin has addresses the Issue with the hire. Expecting anything else is silly.

Why the F has the NCAA done NOTHING as it relates to Waco? What is their purpose? They jump all over programs where players use scholarship money to buy pens and pencils, but see no need to take a peek at RU - again, what is their purpose?

Let's be honest. It's personal for anyone who knows a sexual assault victim and more so for those of us who have them in our families. It will always be personal because assholes like this Horny morther****er PUBLICLY SHAMED any woman who had the gall to speak out. #truthdontlie my big white ass. He called them all liars and assisted the campaign of misinformation designed to make these woman feel violated even yet again and help those responsible escape without punishment or scrutiny.

Nothing I've said above is conjecture. It's fact. That alone is enough to bar him from ever walking into a room in any capacity as a representative of UT.

NSD will be interesting. I feel like we're going to have a fine team this season on the field. Very interested to see how Herman handles Stoops for round 2. You've got to believe that he's eyeing the hell out of that game.
Enlighten me please, is there a friendship between TH and Horny?

I'm sure it wasn't intentional but you can't mention the Williams without at least a tip of the hat to their pops Richard.

After reading your article on the Baylor sex scandal I can tell this one will sting for a long time. Having the Baylor roots as you do make it that more personal and I get it. Problem is I don't hear folks from Waco stepping up and challenging the school to get it right. If I was a Baylor alum I wouldn't let my daughter near that campus, and that would be a sad state of affairs. Good luck to you and your fam. Hookem!

The problems that the Longhorns have right now in recruiting are rich folks' problems.

This is so important. Texas is not in the new facility era. It's crazy how many other schools have nicer facilities now.
Bama
Oregon
Aggy
Baylor
Arky
Nebraska
Ohio St
That's just to name a few and there are a lot more. The players speak and the recruits definitely speak. Herman knew this day 1 and the players know some badass stuff is coming. I have no idea what Strong was doing in that department but damn it was bad. Reminded me of some old school 70s coach making his guys tough it out and not get any handouts. The money people make off them should require new locker room face lifts every other year or so. They should always have top notch players lounge. Anything and everything technology. Only areas where players spend the most time and hang out and become team/family. Hopefully it happens now and not be some rumor that drags out. Texas needs to step the facility game up.

.. Rivals Big 12 rankings by average star ranking as of Sunday night: 1. Texas (3.54) 2. Oklahoma (3.43) 3. TCU (3.21) 4. Baylor (3.13) 5. Texas Tech (2.96)6. Oklahoma State (2.95), 7. West Virginia (2.64)8. Iowa State (2.55) 9. Kansas (2.38) 10. Kansas State (2.20)
And yet Bill Snyder team will win 6-7 games on this list, go figure.

The NCAA won't, and shouldn't do anything to Baylor. Baylor involves crimes, felonies, and the lack of compliance to federal regulations. The NCAA isn't a police force, it's not a federal court, and they shouldn't try to be. They should only be concerned with members following the rules of their voluntary organization, recruiting rules, scheduling rules, coaching staff rules, practice rules, approving too many bowl games, etc.

Baylor should be held accountable for Title IX violations by the federal government. Rapists should go to jail. Those who covered up, interfered with, or gave false information to law enforcement should go to jail. And that includes local law enforcement and prosecutors who helped hide these crimes.

What happened at Baylor is over the NCAA's head. It's much bigger than a member of club disobeying the club's rules. The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power, they couldn't prosecute the Baylor case if they wanted to.
They have a very clear lack of institutional control clause. I don't disagree that the DOJ should be crawling all over Waco/Baylor/WPD. But to say the NCAA should just sit on the sidelines and watch is wrong. Hell, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation should be challenging their BOR and what happened there. I still find it shocking it could have been covered up for so long in this age of social media. The breadth of the cover up must be staggering and I am truly saddened by the hiring of Horny.

Burn it down! Baylor football has to be held accountable as well as Waco PD and all involved in this horrific situation.

Horney's name has been used enough by the Mods & Mod Wannabees over the past few days that I have actually become so ... Ketch what happens if we do care about the Ladies on the Brazos and it is personal for us??? I do not need for you to share with me what I should and should not take to heart. You tell people a great deal, but you seldom ask how I or how anyone else feels... Now comes the great GK and God has sent him a lovely beautiful little daughter. Feel blessed ??? Well I have THREE !!! I also have FIVE Granddaughters, and ONE Great Granddaughter who will be here in April.... Where were you when one of them had their picture posted on your site and was subjected to a litany of insipid comments due to her choice of dress while visiting the Obama White House ??? Could it be your moral compass was pointed North some 90 plus miles while your own site is chock full of sleaze!!! BTW some of it is OK!!!

I have one question : Do you know that Mr. Horney knew and did not report that mega rapes, cover ups + solicitations were being supported by Briles ,Son & Bennett ??? I am not speaking to the convictions but to the allegations which appear to be part of a cover up larger than PSU !!!! ... It appears that a number of our Baptist Saved Brothers and Sisters also believes that winning takes care of everything !!! Where are you Dave Bliss???

One additional observation : It's not that just Black Lives Matter it's just that All Lives Matter!!! If we could only get you to do your work in either Chicago or Detroit then we could get those gun control communities cleaned up ...

The culture of rape and the objectivication of these women did not materialize out of thin air. It has an origin and is part of a sickness in our larger culture. We all have a piece of ownership in that.

How does Oklahoma have 18 four star commits, but trails Texas in star average? Something seems off about the math here.

The Williams sisters are the greatest story in American sports history.

Jesse Owens winning gold in Hitler's house and the Miracle on Ice team taking down the Soviet juggernaut have nothing on the Williams sisters.

Herman is the Coach & I trust his decision

Here's the thing if you mess w sh*t you get it on you. THAT doesn't mean that he didnt make mistakes, wasn't a good person in a bad situation & doesn't deserve an opportunity to redeem himself.

Herman HAS addressed the issue EXTENSIVELY & Perrin has made a statement. Herman has been on the radio, in print, & TV & addressed the hire extensively.

EXTENSIVELY!!!

Not true. You should do more research.

I did not attack you. I suggested that what you wrote ("Now let that shit go! Enough already.") is something that a Baylor fan might have said a year ago. As I stated in my column, we owe it to the victims to ask questions about those that were involved in the program at that level for the entirety of that scandal.

You did attack Horn of Plenty, Ketch. Saying he wrote what a Baylor apologist fan wrote is saying he thinks like a Baylor fan which is an insult!

For me, I could respond to you regarding this morning's comments, Ketch; but I won't for the sake of THIS university and program. I am moving on. I will leave it with "reasonable minds can disagree". The respectful thing for you and your supporters to do is
just agree that both sides are reasonable people who disagree. It has been your habit and your supporters' habits to attack the character and intelligence of your opponents and that has infuriated your opponents. Take the higher road, Ketch. I won't respond unless someone attacks me, AGAIN.

Agreeing 100000% with Ketch on this one

I don't think extensive means what you think it means.

Two sister tennis players is the greatest story in American sports history? Did Ketch really just write that with a straight face? =)roll
Feel free to one-up me if you can, but I get the sense you are actually ignoring their story...

I dig where you're coming from but have to disagree that the Jessie Owens story has nothing on the Williams sisters story. Maybe being an old gives me a perspective that you can't fully or reasonably grasp about the distinction. The world was a very different place in 1936 than in 1980 and subsequently, let me try to sum it up that way. It adds a degree and dimension that just isn't quite there in the same way in the second story. No disrespect Ketch.
I think I can grasp history and what it means. There's never been a story quote like the Williams sister story in the history of sports.

And..... back to publicly slandering Horny. I hope you guys never sit on a jury anytime soon. I would love to see you man up Ketch and actually go to Hermans next presser and express your feelings directly to him , rather than continue blast him directly or indirectly over your site.

Peace out
Slander?

I suppose the very bare minimum of expectations is too much for some.

The talent hasn't completely been developed. But, we know guys like Holton Hill and Kris Boyd are super talented. We know it. Can Herman get every ounce of talent out of them and get it to translate to football success? That's the question that will definite the early start of his Texas career.

They have a 28-man class at this point, so the volume of the other commitments brings it down slightly.
