Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Your 2025 Spring Portal Primer)

Nice work @Ketchum.
Did you see the Mike trout fan situation? Including after the game. Felt kinda bad for the fan and Trout is a good dude it seems

I wonder why we didn’t go all in for some of those guys in the earlier portal.

Or maybe we did and it still wasn’t enough or their price was just too high.

1) I think they need to/will take a DT in the portal

2) Correct Top 10 Metallica songs

10. Seek and Destroy
9. Creeping Death
8. Nothing Else Matters
7. For Whom the Bell Tolls
6. Master of Puppets
5. The Unforgiven
4. Sanitarium
3. Fade to Black
2. Enter Sandman
1. One
This. One is One.

Timing was everything. Retention efforts were the top priority.

Sigourney was passed around like a 70's concert doobie. Unfortunately, to get famous they had to sleep with disgusting rich men.

Feels like Sarks presser was another leaf on the portal recruiting tree. Hello agents, this is what I’m looking for. Come on down

Great read on portal needs. Hats off to Sark and the coaching staff on keeping a balanced approach to getting kids drafted and staying loaded at all positions via the recruiting and transfers strategies.

I know everyone thinks our kicking game was horrible last season. It would be interesting to see how many games that ended up causing Sark to play call differently that he would if we had a stud FG kicker.

There weren't many, but there were a few.

I appreciate the comparisons to the NFL draft and free agency in several professional leagues, and I could be excited if NIL/portal approached that. Players generally stick with their teams for several years in those cases. Unfortunately, we’re now in the era where college players can leave literally the hour they’re unhappy with no negative consequences.

That makes it a lot harder to get invested in my team.
