Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Your 2025 Spring Portal Primer)

Last season

Doncic – 33.9 PPG, 9.8 APG, 9.2 RPG

Jokic – 26.4 PPG, 9.0 APG, 12.4 RPG

Luka was robbed.

Reading about Bond, sounds like it was consensual until he went for the butt, then didn’t stop when asked.

I love the portal, personally. It’s not as exciting as the NFL draft, but it’s a big part of team building and happens in a much shorter time frame than high school recruiting. The next 2 weeks will likely determine whether this team is elite or very good.

My takes regarding the Nico situation:

#1. Nico has a massive target on his back — he needs to be flawless next season and leave no doubt that he is/was worth $4m per year, otherwise the critics are going to devour him.
#2. A legit, current starting QB at a Big X or Big XII school will unexpectedly (at least a week ago) enter the portal this week and sign with Tennessee by this time next week. Tenn is ready to roll this season and the temptation will be too great to deny.
#3. College football gets less compelling by the year. Sigh.

Any update on whether or not Texas is going to be in on the Cal TE that’s set to enter the portal?

Any wish list names? Any way we could land Westco since he is a Texas kid or Sarratt from Indiana?
My dream scenario is Jayden Greathouse, but he seems set for the Irish. I would assume the top brass at the Vatican would step in and keep him in South Bend

all of that sounded very compelling to me!

Greathouse would be great. I'd rather have Wesco.

I would get the word out that Texas will blow Clemson's NIL out of the water.

He's had better statistical seasons than basically anyone that has ever lived.

Basketball is the most difficult sport to compare players from different eras with “statistics” as the basis of your argument. It’s like using lap times in F1 to determine who the greatest racer in history is.

Good list. Personally, I'd move One to #2, and drop Seek and Destroy below Creeping Death and Fade to Black.

Basically, no one compares to him.

I'd feel better about stealing him if Klubnik wasn't at Clemson. Might have a better shot at Wesco next year when Cade goes pro.

Ketch, how did the recruiting go with Wesco with Texas? Looking at his profile he visited summer 22. Trying to remember his recruitment
