Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend

No 4, YES!!

Can't stand Lebron and his Ego, which is bigger than he is. But, congrats to Tristan Thompson on the championship. Hook 'Em!
...and Steph Curry and his wife are better??? I was pulling for the Cavs just to shut them up and now they scream that the playoffs were rigged...unbelievable!

#2 maybe I'm in the minority but if win hire David Pierce I'm calling it a win. I'm a huge fan of his. He's won everywhere he's been.
You betcha...with you here. pay his 1M buyout and hire him.

So if we end up with O'Sullivan after all is said and done is Perrin still an idoit? Just want to clarify the prevailing thought if we end up with the consensus top choice.

All documentaries have an agenda and the notion that he was trying to "out run being black" is silly.

I'm sure I'll watch once it hits Netflix but I got so fed up with it when I was a Sophomore in college when it all went down.

Haven't watched the documentary but some Blacks when getting to his success do feel they can transcend race.

No one called him an idiot, except you right now.

It won't change the fact that he made mistakes, just that the power of the program overcame them.

Didn't mean it literally and wasn't referring to just you. I used the OBism "idoit" to encompass the many criticisms levied on Perrin ITT. I asked a legit question. The second part of your response answers what in your opinion it would mean.

Could the timing of Augie's departure have been planned a little better? Sure. But I'll propose that had it lingered on until the CWS was over the critics would have been just as loud about how Augie needed to go. I think he handled Augie's exit as well as could be expected. See Mack's for the opposite side of that coin.

I'm willing to allow this to play out until someone is hired to decide whether or not it was a clown show.

A first-class AD gets his messaging out, so that questions about what should have transpired would have been clear.

Augie's exit was handled fine and it could have potentially been a situation with some thorns in it. The issue was not thinking about the cause and effect of the timing of the announcement.

The AD job at Texas is about being 5 steps ahead of everyone else on the most important matters of the job. Thus far, Perrin has been more of a one step at a time guy, and there are consequences for that.

Fair enough and thanks for expanding your thoughts. I agree that a permanent AD needs to be found. I just disagree that Perrin has been anything short of great in his role as fill in for the failure that came before him.

So I'll ask a different way what are the consequences IF O'Sullivan (the consensus top choice) ends up being the next coach at UT? A few weeks of teeth gnashing and worrying over perception of the program?

I think Perrin has done a great job and I've written that many times. This specific situation has had a few kinks in it. That shouldn't mean that everything else he's done well should be ignored.

However, with a possible football hire looming if this season isn't a success, they have to get someone better suited for these specific tasks sooner rather than later. I think the BOR and the rest of the like see that and will act accordingly.

Agreed with all of that. Although I hope a football hire is not needed. Fingers crossed on that and today's news certainly helps.
