Less than 48 hours until a new season of incompetence dawns

Everything Texas is and has been shit on a stick for a long time. Beginning to sour on cdc.

So you think we would go after Beard and pay the 6 million buyout?

No way. If we didn't can SS after last year, then we aren't going after Beard. I would prefer Donovan or Beilein if he can't get along with the Cavs players. Let Yaklich try out for the gig, and when he fails, get a good coach that will get canned this year in the NBA. Never again go for the hot commodity. Get the proven coach from the NBA that doesn't put up with crybaby crap.

Last night was our worst loss since Weltlich's first season -- nearly 37 years ago -- when Kaiser Bob had to give heavy minutes to eight freshman walk-ons, including a male cheerleader, to scratch out six wins for the year.

Shaka now owns our fifth- and 11th-worst losses of all time (by scoring margin). He has been here for 4.5 of the 113.5 seasons that Texas has played basketball, and he has coached in 5.4% of the games in program history, and yet he owns ~18% of our 11 worst losses, and the two worst losses since Return of the Jedi hit theaters. Shaka also owns our fifth-worst home loss (second-worst in Erwin Center history) and our fifth- and ninth-worst road losses.

Someday I will eat lamb vindaloo for a week and then take a massive turmeric-infused sh*t on Steve Patterson's lonely, unvisited grave.

You'll have to wait until I finish pissing all over it first. Then, poop away.

Matt doesn't need to be teaching anything to our sports teams. Considering where a lot of these guys come from.... they know how to spot a con when they see one.

Almost convinced me he needs an extension after reading how great he was at VCU. How did he drop off like this? Why did he abandon Havoc? Watching their half court offense with no real plan - it seems like the press would be exactly what they need to get some easy baskets. Last night was a new low. In fact, WVU looked like what I thought Texas was getting with Shaka.

Shaka was good when he had great assistants. His actual records at VCU weren't that great.

LSU leads 42-32 at the half in Austin in front of a half-empty lower bowl at the FEC.

Not worried. Shaka's legendary halftime adjustments are the ace up our sleeve.
what's funny BBR is he almost pulled it off using exactly what you were sarcastic about! but in the end....

Needless to say a change will have to made at the end of the season. But I do remember a few years ago posters on this site were talking about how Shaka Smart woody l would be a great hire. Be careful what you wish for you just might get it. Sadly this has been the with most coaching hires at the University of Texas. In the past we've gone for big name hoop coaches. But I'm starting to think at the hires TT and Baylor have made. Look I know that Scott Drew has a reputation but he and Chris Beard have produced. Thing is they came from small programs I've never heard of. What I'm trying to say is maybe we should look at a smaller program we might find a hidden gem.

I am not saying Shaka should stay, but Scott Drew's 1st several years at Baylor were not good:
2003–04 8–21
2004–05 9–19
2005–06 4–13
2006–07 15–16
2007–08 21–11 NCAA Division I Round of 64

After the 2008 year, Baylor was pretty darn good. Chris Beard was a home run from year 2.

Speaking of good coaches, is anybody watching the Kentucky/Tech game? In overtime now and it is back and forth. Damn good game.

Scott Drew started with nothing. Shaka started with a wealth of riches and has turned Texas basketball into a desert of want. He is horrible.

Maybe so.

Since Texas let LSU extend the lead and put them in a 16-point hole over the first five minutes of the second half, I wonder if what came afterward was less a matter of adjustments than LSU flagging in their intensity while Texas raised theirs out of desperation. I didn't watch the game or read any analysis of it, so I can't say.

Good win today by Texas. 72-68 over Iowa St. We needed that win because on deck is KU, Tech, then Baylor. It will be a rough couple of weeks.

Texas lost to KU in Lawrence, in case anyone was wondering.

We actually led 33-31 at the half and were only down two with a little over 10 minutes to play. Then KU went on a 19-4 run over seven minutes to put it away. We had a little scoring flurry after KU had already sealed the win to make the final score look more respectable. Final score was 69-58.

I worked late and missed it. It appears my time at work and away from the tv was worth it.
