Truth? According to you?

Affirmative action is outdated and needs to go. Adios mofo.

No jackass, not my truth. Studies show that white women benefit the most from affirmative action, and you said that nobody who makes such a comment can be taken serious, and knew nothing about affirmative action. Your dumbass put your foot in your mouth, and can't admit that you are wrong.

"I was going to argue with the guy who said "white women benefit from affirmative action more than anyone"

"But then I thought better of it.....as in nobody who has studied or been impacted by affirmative action could say that and be serious about it"

That's you clown, and you are wrong. Admit it. I can't take you serious.

Why does it matter who benefits the most? The practice overall should just end.

Got any current data BLH? I mean I know you like to live in the past and all but a lot of things have changed in the last 25 years or so regardless of what the Reverand Sharpton or Jackson would have you believe.

No jackass, not my truth. That's you clown, and you are wrong. Admit it. I can't take you serious.
So I looked it up....and you know what? You're right.

According to the Huffington Post, Vox, NPR, Sally Kohn, and Racism Review......white women benefit most from Affirmative Action.

So I guess I owe you an apology. I am sorry.

I would mention however that nothing I have ever read from the Huffington Post or NPR hasn't been slanted toward an end goal. And Sally Kohn is a blithering idiot. But the facts are there for all to read. And my anecdotal tale is apparently an outlier. So I stand corrected.

So according to your splendid recount of our racist past....wouldn't that be a great reason to abolish affirmative action?

You can say you were wrong @oldschoolcat . White women benefit the most from affirmative action. Where did you study at? You should learn to never confuse education with intelligence.

Hopefully some place that taught him not to end a sentence with a preposition. I hate to be a grammar Nazi but using (at) at the end of a sentence is baffling. It is simply unnecessary, kind of like tits on a boar hog.

It's just funny that you are criticizing his intelligence and education and at the same time appear to be functionally illiterate.

Why does it matter who benefits the most? The practice overall should just end.

It matters because the OP said this...

"I am ashamed of my alma mater's persistence in discriminating against people based on their ethnicity"

It matters because when I pointed out the fallacy in that statement, I was called a liar. The simple task of reading would have provided you with that answer.

As far as it ending, it shouldn't end, until this ends...

"Researchers found that the same résumé for the same job application will get twice as many callbacks for interviews if the name on the résumé is Greg instead of Jamal. School districts spend more on predominantly white schools than predominantly black schools. The fact that black workers earn, on average, 35% less than white workers in the same job isn’t erased by the election of an African-American President."

F*** you and your grammar. It was he that spoke on what I was educated on, he was wrong and I simply threw it back in his face. But of course you missed that.

I get it, you're stuck on stupid and you want to stay there. Have fun with that. I'm putting another member of the klan on ignore, because I see no matter what evidence you have, you're going to keep being you.
Following suit.

So, it doesn't matter what it does, it's bad regardless?

No one should benefit based on race/gender they should benefit based on merit. So why does it matter which group affirmative action benefits the most?

Like scholz said, in a perfect world it wouldn't matter, but based on this country, it's still needed. As far as mentioning who benefits the most, I already explained how that came up.

When will this stop? There is your answer. Let me know when you get that answer.

Maybe I live in a bubble. I really, truly, sincerely go through each resume I receive and I have our office manager redact name and gender. I don't care to know what their race and gender is. All of our associates are hired at the same base pay-- across the board, and given the same commission pay- and are given bonuses scheduled on the exact same scales. And maybe I'm an idiot for not doing this, but I've never bothered to look and see if my "employees of racial diversity" are making as much as my Caucasian employees. Nor have I bothered to look and see if my male employees were making more than my females---- because they all have the exact same employment agreement.

Am I wrong in doing this? Am I to make it easier for certain employees to make MORE money than others?

No you're right obviouslyClob. I certainly don't see the type of descrimination BLH crying about

If that's what you do, great, but studies show that is not the norm. That is not the world we live in. It's not by mistake, that men make more money than women, doing the same job, with the same experience. It's prejudice.

Artificially manipulating systems will never work. People who are ambitious and work hard will always succeed, regardless of race or gender identity. Women can make as much money as men, if they do the same job and commit to it the same way.

If you are under paid, change f#$%ing careers....you are the only person responsible for yourself. The government can not provide for you what you can for yourself. Back to capitalism.

Back to capitalism.
Yes, conservative bumper sticker politics works so well. Let's have unfettered, dog eat dog, I got mine eff the rest of you capitalism. Regulation is bad. That way we can have more Flint, Michigans, exploding fertilizer plants and Deepwater Horizons. And everybody who is discriminated against has no basis for complaint. Government is bad.

While we're at it, let's rid ourselves of that nuisance minimum wage and child labor laws while we're at it. And weekends. Workers don't need those. Let's have all workers be paid nothing and work all day like it was in the good old days.

Yeah....that's what I said. Straw man supreme.

Actually I was saying that I was going back to work so I can actually produce something. This production generates revenues and tax dollars. These tax dollars in turn will be used to pay people to run the "programs" to solve all of the problems in this world. Many of which were caused by previous government programs to solve all the problems.

But Scholz, with respect, that's an extreme example or two you gave there. Nobody has said work without pay-- nobody has said take away weekends. And let's be honest, when I bid on a contract or an RFP, it comes down to price- that's what free market dictates. In other nations, it's controlled by outside sources-- government, bribes, blackmail, etc. I'm not as much "pro-capitalism" as I am pro free market.

And in a free market, in this country- more often than not the company that's going to do the best job, for the lowest price, wins. And I see that as pro free market at work.

Yeah....that's what I said. Straw man supreme.
Yeah it is. I speak dumbed down Republican talking points. All govt is bad, all regulation is bad. Just let capitalism work and the markets will take care of themselves. Except that ends up in exploitation, discrimination and greed every time.

Long past time for affirmative action to go? NO discrimination except for affirmative action...are you f****** kidding me.

There exists an apparatus that would have you take American innocence at face value and not inquire into its evil. People like to believe after slavery and the willie lynch effect, that the path of glory was upon us. Just disregard the situation that a part of US society was put in, because of centuries of subjugation, and an entire group of people released into poverty, hopelessness, and more evil, with no family and nothing in hand…disregard the black codes that followed, disregard that jim crow followed, disregard the segregation that followed, disregard that over 4000 black people were hung from 1870-1960 and only one person was convicted, disregard that over 3000 black people were killed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, because the military, vets, cops, and civilians didn’t want to see them prosper, disregard that over 300 black people were killed because they wanted to vote democrat (I can go on and on), disregard that interracial marriage wasn’t allowed into the late 1960’s, disregard that the Little Rock 9 happened 50 years ago, James Meredith happened 45 years ago, but now you think all is well, and affirmative action is no longer needed, and it's the problem…disregard that racism still runs amuck. A group of people that through free labor and the cotton industry, helped the US become a world power that was only rivaled by England. F*** affirmative action, it’s a small thing in the scheme of it all. A group of people that watched Japanese Americans, Native Americans, and Jews get reparations. But you’re whining about affirmative action.

You’re not affected, so it’s easy for you not to give a damn. People like you that want to sit on the sideline and complain, yet have no other resolution, should shut up. You speak on today, without acknowledging the why. You think all that evil has been undone, in such a short amount of time.
Actually, my parents marriage was illegal in much of the south, but not Massachusetts, New York, or Texas in 1942. Ancient history. End affirmative action

Low bid RFPs are one thing, systematic discrimination in school admissions and job placements (whether the deciding individuals are doing it consciously or not) is entirely another.

Except that ends up in exploitation, discrimination and greed every time.

"What is greed? Of course none of us are greedy. It's only the other fellow who's greedy. The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus. Einstein didn't construct his theory under order from a bureaucrat. Henry Ford didn't revolutionize the automobile industry that way. In the only cases in which the masses have escaped from the kind of grinding poverty you're talking about, the only cases in recorded history are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade. If you want to know where the masses are worst off, it's exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that. So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear that there is no alternative way, so far discovered, of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system." - Milton Friedman.

I said my piece, prejudice in this country is not ancient history, so affirmative action will continue.

This is the same fallacy as "equal pay". If the work was equivalent, a company could be super profitable by hiring only blacks. This hasn't happened because the premise is false.

Waaaaaaait a minute. That was BLH? Seriously?

MM with his tech wizardry confounds me! One day you're going to have to explain to me (a total tech idiot) how you do that MM.

Btw- you're sorry arse never got back to me about your aggy nephew.

The subject of AA will always be a sticky point for both sides. No one should be banned for speaking what they believe. It is the freedom of speech. Unless they are aggys lol

I'd love to hear more stories about what all you and Chris did, lol. He ended up graduating from Nebraska (gave up football) and now lives in Dallas. He has a beautiful wife and two young children.

blh was banned for threatening violence on people numerous times, and he re-registered a new username after he was banned, which is not allowed. He is no longer welcome to post here. It has nothing to do with speaking his mind in this thread.
