Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (About Quinn Ewers...)

There's no real reason other than personal comfort with the head guy.
This is crazy seeing as he saw how successful it is firsthand.

Did Sark just not pick up what we hoped he picked up as part of Saban’s organization? I mean hell, just copy the damn org chart for a guide on how to build a back office.

Or do you mean CDC, which is a whole different gripe. I mean why hire Sark and handicap him, if this is the case?

I ain’t burning this site to the ground if we don’t get Ewers! We got Malik and I’m pumped about him being a part of this team! This is a team sport and if Quinn doesn’t want to be a part of a real team that’s on him! If he ends up at Tech I’m not that worried about it! Would I love to have Ewers absolutely but only if he comes in ready to work and be a team player and leader! This team will be fine regardless and I fully trust Sarkisian to get things headed in the right direction! Let’s also not forget how good Casey was pre injury this season! If he’s able to get and stay healthy he could still have a really bright future regardless of what some of the board thinks! We need an Oline more than anything right now to protect the QB and then we can fully trust whoever is behind center for Sark and Company!

I love the movie. LOVE IT. If it's on, I'm watching.
I agree with you that DDL is amazing, and likely the greatest actor around.

Oddly, though, most of his performances are so harrowing that I leave the movie in awe of what he's done, but never wanting to watch it again. Last of the Mohicans is about the only movie on that list that I'll willingly re-watch. He's almost too good.

I haven't sensed that Texas is unwilling to give Sark everything he wants.

Aranda is from California and spent famous time at LSU, and he took neither job. Also didn’t take OU, which is a big job.

Assuming he was offered and passed, what job could he possibly be holding out for? I can’t imagine he just wants to stay at Baylor. He probably wasn’t actually considered for any of them.

a. Ewers transferring to Texas makes a lot of sense.
b. It's entirely possible that Texas won't be his best option.
c. Orangebloods might burn to the ground if he goes elsewhere.

@Ketchum great write up.
1. Agree Ewers to Texas makes sense. Big stage for him to perform
2. Wanting Ewers is in no way disrespectful to Malik. Ewers will bring other near term recruits with him and that helps the entire team including whoever wins the starting job. I do not see Malik shying away from a competitive QB room.
3. New NIL for OL that Texas is cooking up will (hopefully) bring in Banks, Campbel and others
4. You nailed the top 2 DDL films. Those were off the charts. The others are great movies/performances as well and one can argue position on list but the top 2 are over the top.

So Vaughans and Bimage had really good years at positions we were desperate at! Man, that is Texas football in a nutshell.

I'm buying that the family has a plan and is in the middle of executing it.
Can you elaborate a little more on this? Are they negotiating a bigger deal from us or just playing games with us with no intention of signing here

Lord, Ketch, the biggest need on this team is O line! Not QB!!

No QB can succeed without one! Remember Don Meredith??

Casey stood in better than Card, but he's more mature. Both got injured because of that porous line. Lord knows what Bijan would have done had he not been having to juke a D lineman in the backfield on almost every carry!
Casey, Card, & Murphy are sufficient if we get that O line fortified in a real way! Ewers would be like drawing to an inside royal straight, and would be most welcome.

Receivers are needed as well as more LBs, cover CBs, and D line depth.

With Blue coming in, we're set at RB for some years!

It would be an eye-opening lack of faith.
Tom Herman won football games (including powerhouse teams like Kansas) and was fired for not landing Quinn Ewers. Why would Sark not be fired for failing to do either one?

yah, it's a win and a big 12. championship, but come on, going for it on 4th when and where he did burned 8 of his cat's lives right there.

"... Bravo, Dave Aranda. That was one hell of a coaching job. In my mind, we just witnessed the single best single-season coaching performance in the history of the Big 12. His team was predicted to finish the season '

Based off the modcast…

B/S- we go 8-4 next season
(Sell) I need to see more of this roster rebuild before I'm ready to make that leap of faith.
an 8-4 season at Texas is now a leap of faith

DDL is a legend, unfortunately, I think I might be too much of a rube to appreciate most of his work. The Ewers transfer is putting up tons of red flags. I guess with a 5 star QB you overlook the flags.

My Left Foot
In the Name of the Father
Last of the Mohicans

then we can discuss

OU didn't wait through the championship games on Saturday, while recruiting was on fire, because of nothing.

If there was ever a not seeing the trees through the forest post, this is it.

what are the primary flags in your mind?

You glossed over the NIL situation at Tech. They have a few very motivated boosters who are seemingly willing to get stupid with it (the Double Eagle guys).
I have been thinking this myself. Those boys are loaded and LOVE Tech. Ewers would probably be happy with what they gamble in a weekend in Vegas.

In the world of NIL, it might feel like that for everyone moving forward, especially kids with pre-existing million dollar deals.
On another note….rumor is Gary has an offer on the table and it’s not for an on field position? Has any of this been confirmed? It seems to me if Sark can’t do this right, he is not for long in this role. Gary Patterson is a Greg Robinson type hire imo

Not sure that's going to matter with those two.
agree..think both of them stay close to home..my post was more for miami/south florida talent that had started to be pick-pocketed by the likes of UGA, BAMa, clemson, tOSU, and to an extent OU as well.

in fact, i could see Julian Armella (the top OT in the country), kevin coleman, shemar stewart, and brownlow dindy give him at least a chance...i think he can get 2 out of those 4.

IT mentioned GP might not want to have an on-field role. They said he can basically choose his role at this point.

... I feel for John Metchie. That dude was a few weeks away from getting seriously paid.

I wouldn't feel too bad for him. Willis McGahee was still a 1st round pick after a significantly worse knee injury 20 years ago at the same time of year before the draft. Same for Kenyon Martin, #1 overall pick after a broken leg. Metchie will be fine financially, and I suspect his draft stock won't fall too far, if at all, as a result of the injury.

Injuries always suck, but this isn't a Boobie Miles level injury heartbreaking story.
