Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (About the quarterbacks... Part III)

Recruiting was a dumpster fire. The actual football on the field ended up being better than decent based on the actual results of the season..

Better than decent? We were mediocre....Herman was the definition of mediocre.

It’s more “when” does the buck stop, not where.

I’ve seen a lot that I like from Sark, and it’s to early to panic.

I’m in favor of continuity in the coaching staff if possible. As long as there is progress in player development and recruiting over the next couple years, I am rooting for Sark.

I think there is an argument that it’s much better for a college programs recruiting if the coach isn’t on the hot seat.
It is too early to panic.

It's not too early to issue some concerns.

let’s put it this way, Sark inherited a team that forgot how to play 4 qtrs. Now Sark has to teach them again to play 4 Qtrs. We all get you love Hudson Card, you’ve beat that dead horse, now get off. Card will get his chance in spring training to prove he is the guy. What Texas needs to do for the last 4 games from a defensive stand point is scheme to stop the most effective player on the opposing team, like every team in the B12 does to us. Choke off B.Hall, Little Duce Coup, etc. and you have a better ch ace of winning those games.
Umm Sark is 0-19 trailing at the half and has blown 8 halftime leads as a HC. I’d say he is absolutely not the guy to teach players how to play 4 quarters.

But doesn't everyone know what winning looks like? Any loser can watch Tom Brady and see what it looks like. Anyone can watch the Michael Jordan documentary. It's not that they don't know what it looks like. It's rather that they don't have a mentality that produces winning habits.
Very few players on the roster know anything less than being on pretty good teams that win bowl games and finish the season ranked in some capacity. Quite a few starters know that it's like to win a major bowl game and play in a conference title game.

I would say no. I can remember him struggling to hit open receivers. I can never remember him failing to lead or to rally the team.

The QB ratings can't capture that.

Those teams, without Sam, would have done the easier things more easily, and would have choked in big situations, just like this team is doing. Without Sam, they would have scored 70 on Tech and Kansas--something which was never a threat under Sam--but they would have cratered at the first sign of adversity. Just like they are doing now.

Not Herman but Sam is what made the last three years a marginal outlier in the context of our experience over the last decade.
Meh, they hung Sam’s ass out to dry and were outright jovial when Casey came in and blew open the CU game. Some in the program were even going as far as saying Casey was the better looking QB in the program last year but that move could never be made because of spilled blood.

@Ketchum with all due respect. This team has 2 war daddies on this roster. Worthy and BJ. Maybe Collins. So let’s say 3. I don’t care about rankings. Hermans evaluations were way off on 85% of this roster. The fact you and @Anwar Richardson thinks the new staff inherited a good wealth of talent is mind blowing. Texas might have 3-7 kids max that’s A&M would want on their roster. Rankings, stars ⭐️ by their names mean NADA when your in the arena of college football.
This team should be in the top 25.

We're reinventing narratives to suggest that it shouldn't be

Ketch, I’d bet you don’t have enough time to watch all the high-quality stuff on the various apps/streaming platforms (who does?), but two series to consider on AppleTV+: “For All Mankind” (sci-fi … and the second season is superior to the first) and “Servant” (something Stephen King might have cooked up). They have ratings on IMDb of 7.9 and 7.5 respectively. And for something really different, “Losing Alice”; however, that won’t be errbody’s cup of tea, as it’s in Yiddish, so you have to put up with subtitles, and it‘s a slow burn with kind of a David Lynch vibe. I liked it a lot, but it has a more pedestrian 6.6 rating on IMDb.
Thanks for the heads up. I might give one of those a chance.

If forced to start with one... wihich one?

Why don’t we want to talk EPL?

Because I'm angry.

Better than decent? When their season effectively ended against Iowa State, they were 4-3 in conference with every game but one being decided one score.

Vegas pegged their win total at 7.5 or 8 depending on the shop, with a schedule that included Kansas, Rice and Louisiana. He didn’t inherit a destitute team, but he sure as hell did not inherit a good team either.
Good enough to be a top 25 team.

Not good enough to much better than that.

These players haven't accomplished anything meaningful.

I respect your view, I just disagree that there's anything like a winning tradition or winning habits to draw upon. I don't see it.

This team has talent but never had the across the board talent nor depth to make a playoff or important bowl appearance.

Of course, not. But, it's 4-4.

We're not talking about those things, are we?

Did you review the actual game footage for everyone one of Casey Thompson’s passes for the last 4 games? Because if you didn’t and just put out 5-11, etc then you’re not being objective. Context matters. Was there a lineman in his face, was he scrambling for his life, did he have a clean pocket, did he have time to throw? All of these could explain and bring proper analysis to your claim that he’s been bad for over a month as you claim. But by just throwing out stats without taking into consideration the real time events, it means nothing.

I don't think they ever really knew, but he hasn't improved them in this area the way it was hoped he would.

Well regardless of what people said clearly Herman left behind a team of mentally fragile players that fold at the first sign of adversity. This is now an established fact.

This team actually fight its guts out in every game last year, even when they played like warm piss.

You know, I’ve reread my posts multiple times now and not once did I insult you. I do believe you have an agenda and I’ve developed that belief by reading your posts and your articles.

16 years Ketch

If you want me to go away and want me to stop posting then I’ll leave. Your call….
You've been constantly rude for some time. IN almost every thread I encounter with you.

I just want you to leave this thread.

Did Sark also inherit Sam Ehlinger? Herman from day ****ing 1 inherited a QB that would go on to become statistically one of the best in school history.

Not in year one.

Talking about anything outside of what he inherited for season one is a moot point.

IT blows this site out of the water.

Ironically you post this and you are opposed to staff changes yet OB has not called for one coach to fired but IT has mods calling for PK to be fired and several other assistants... So there is that....Are the IT mods wrong?

QBR looks at those type of things (which by the way were denied as justifications for Card) and many more - and Casey is 63rd in the country in QBR. And that’s moving up from 6 last week. He is extremely average at best.

“This program was at the pretty good level.”

1-4 against your biggest rival. 0-2 in last two against Iowa State.

Lost three games or more against conference opponents every year.

27 one-score “coin flip” games un.

Vegas win total this season was 7.5 or 8 depending on the shop.

In what world is this a “pretty good level?”
8-4 represents pretty good.

7-3 was pretty good.

Winning a BCS bowl in 2018, which a lot of these players were a part of, was pretty good.

25 wins over the previous three seasons was pretty good.

I mean... yeah... I've watched the games. Multiple times.

Yeah. Idk how many times I can restate that firing any coaches this year is ridiculous. You know me saying IT blows this site out of the water is me saying they provide much more team info. I can respect those who have differing opinions. I enjoy a good football debate.

Fair I can too.....
