I can't believe I posted a comment regarding Ketch's birthday that said,
"Today, El Ketcho is... Tirty tree years old!"
And nobody picked up on that Three Amigos reference? What a disappointing thread!

I'll believe the California schools splitting into separate divisions when I see it. There will be a strong lobby to keep the original Pac 8 together with the "newer" schools in the other division. Texas definitely needs to have a couple of California schools in their division to make the deal.Nonetheless, if I have a vote we're in the PAC. We'd end up w/the AZ schools, maybe Utah, Colorado and the two LA schools. Nice academics and athletics. As you said "Better media markets, better road trips and better overall platform for the Longhorns." Let's ride!
Caught it right AWAY!. I was just catching up overall.
Happy 40th!Dang, what a ten thoughts!

No dispute. That realignment might be tough. Nonetheless, most anything would be an improvement over the Big XII as it now exists. (Oh and I don't want the Big XII to expand) Of course if we brought some "friends" along with us then the alignment changes dramatically. Oh shut up (to self), even if we realigned it's years off and I'm not sure my wife even cares about my opinion. But the SEC can't match it, and it's a pretty good conference. I don't like the SEC, but I just think you're using the wrong analysis to pick an ideal conference.Top American TV markets in a Pac-16 Conference. Let's count'em.

Were you there the night when Jordan hit the shot over Russell and we all screamed out while the news was going on?
The good ol' days.
That's just one piece of the puzzle, but I've been told that yearly TV revenue would push anything we're seeing right now in TV rights annual revenue. But the SEC can't match it, and it's a pretty good conference. Cory knew. Months later at the Texas Relays, we joked about it. He had an idea that it had happened.Fantastic Ketch! Count me as a vote very much in favor of continuing the walk down memory lane.
Also- the Redding story is great anyway. However, if the wireless mic on the collar was placed there unknown to Redding, then you Sir are a steely-eyed missile man!
Yeah, we got lectured the next day over that one.I was. I remember the director yelling 'WTF was that!' in our ears over headsets. Good times.

I'm not so sure, but the discussion of the Pac-16's value goes beyond this layer of the discussion alone.TV revenue with Texas in either the SEC or BIG would surpass the PAC with Texas in it.
Again, you're focusing on tv revenue ants not what makes a great conference. You make an outstanding product and the tv revenue will follow. I don't discount the value of big markets but that's not the key. Otherwise, the Raiders would have stayed and flourished in LA. Once the Clippers began to win, they became popular but before that they were laughable. That's just one piece of the puzzle, but I've been told that yearly TV revenue would push anything we're seeing right now in TV rights annual revenue.
lay it out for us.. we can handle the truth !!! .I'm not so sure, but the discussion of the Pac-16's value goes beyond this layer of the discussion alone.
I just few the Big 10 as a dud. I view the Pac-16 as sexy.Again, you're focusing on tv revenue ants not what makes a great conference. You make an outstanding product and the tv revenue will follow. I feel a very long post ahead of me.lay it out for us.. we can handle the truth !!! .

Maybe better served as content in next week's column. You cool with serving as inspiration for next week's lede?
I make the rules around here. There is only one day left, always starting over: it is given to us at dawn and taken away from us at dusk.

Sartre would argue that rules are a canard....a mere human attempt at reigning in the impossible.I make the rules around here.
