Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Horns vs. Aggies for everything?)

"... This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but unless Jaydon Blue isn't close to 100 percent, he's my starting running back on Saturday against Oklahoma. Play your best players. The coaches have believed he's their best healthy back to such an extent that he was dominating all running back snaps since returning from injury. It's up to Tashard Choice to get him right. That's his job, right?"

I remember Baxter being the #1 over J. Brooks last year. Coaches sometimes over think things. Wisner has looked like the better overall back thus far. Not to say Blue doesn't need to have a strong presence.... just don't think he needs to have more than 12-15 touches rushing.
I wouldn't give him more than 15sh per game, either.

20 NFL scouts and that was the way they voted? Explains how some of the atrocious first round QB decisions they make are made.

I don't understand those Hell in the Cell matches. I generally view wrestling as staged and for entertainment. But those matches are pure destruction for the participants.

I think you do understand.
I enjoyed the match, well done, brutal, but there were some elements I didn’t love. I wouldn’t say it had me raving, but they did a hell of a job and I’ll pass on enduring that.

Nerdy stuff. The toolbox was just unnecessary for the type of story they were telling. Guys with that personal of a story and that much heat for that long just want to get their hands on each other, not get creative with a toolbox. I would have preferred they keep their use of gadgets more organic. And the use of the tools wasn’t fitting either. If you hate someone that much, you’re not patiently digging a wrench into someone’s head. It’s also too obvious it was a way to get blood without the impact (they had plenty of impact without question though). Nothing wrong with it, but if I hate you I’m just clubbing you with it. No hesitation. Just nerdy stuff like that. But we all watch differently.

Hey Ketch, just wanted to get your thoughts on the fact that J Whitt has more receptions and more receiving yardage than Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and JT Sanders, 5 games into the NFL season. Btw, praying that his shoulder heals quickly and he's back on the field for the Ram's next game.

Post a bonus thought about the Cowboys.

... The CM Punk/Drew McIntyre match from Bad Blood is being called the match of 2024, the best Hell in a Cell match of all-time and one of the best matches in the history of the WWE.

It was ****ing amazing. It restored the luster of that match type. I agree best one in history.

I have a question for wrestling fans though. Why does everyone in the crowd have a phone out filming the matches? For what purpose?

Long way to go but it’s interesting to me that in our year one of SEC, Texas, A&M and LSU are all at the top. And that Texas and Aggies could be headed towards one of those outlier years where both have highly successful records at the same time. Again, long way to go

“DB - Jalen Catalon (UNLV): Led the Rebels with 17 tackles, 0.6 tackles for loss and had one pass break-up in UNLV's 44-41 loss to Syracuse.”

Remarkable.

I think the Rams losing every receiver on the roster other than Atwell has a lot to do with it, but he's adjusted to the league well and does all the little things that coaches love.

Hadn't thought about it, but so far... yup.

Love me some Diego Pavia, but not sure I'd place him above Carson Beck in the pantheon of best QBs we will see the rest of the regular season. I'd be lying if I said I am looking forward to playing vs him, though. Kid is tougher than 10,000 year old owl shit....

The discussion was really about the schedule outside of Beck.

But, I think Beck is just a guy, so I'm fine with it.

Probably not. He might. be 5-11.

Pavia has a 169.7 rating (15 points higher than Sam's career high), despite playing with no one of equal talent.

He's also rushed for 1,771 yards in 32 games. Sam rushed for 1,907 games in 46 games.
You forgot to mention how winning is hard.

No doubt.
Who would win Michigan vs. Missouri? Texas nationally got a lot of respect for that win in Ann Arbor, but now media/podcast types are saying Michigan is terrible and we really don't know how good Texas is. We "struggled" against the worst team in the SEC.

I'm honestly not sure. I lean Michigan.

Michigan beating USC at least showed that they are still a respectable win....though with each USC loss (and Mich loss), that argument is getting weaker.
However, right now, Texas has only looked "bad" ("just" a 22-point margin of victory) in one game and we've dominated all the other games, including at Ann Arbor.
So, until we lose, we're deserving of our #1 ranking in my opinion. Now, if Ohio State goes to Oregon and cleans their plow, they'd have a legit case to jump us, which would be fine. All I care about is being #1 come late January.

And Ketch - solid OP, as usual.
I'm not sure what to think about aggy. It is crazy to see how their schedule is pretty soft compared to others and the possibility that we could play them back to back games is hard to process. If losing to just them in regular season meant we'd get our shot again in the SEC game, I'd take that (as that would mean we win out and control our destiny to win the SEC still...and secure a Top 4 seed), although I wouldn't take that in the sense that that would put Aggy in the playoffs too and I'll never root for that...so upon further review, I wouldn't take that scenario. I'd prefer to see them lose to LSU, @ South Carolina and even @Auburn and to us and have them finish about where they've come used to finishing...5 losses.

As for QB's, Quinn overtakes Colt if he wins the SEC....AND he gets us to the Natty game.
Right now, Colt got us to the game and had he hadn't gotten hurt in the game, I contend we'd have had another Natty...so you could argue the only way Quinn surpasses Colt is winning the Natty, period....but SEC title and NC game probably does the trick for me. Probably....but the narrative of not at least matching the Natty performance (and still winning the SEC) doesn't do it for me. Quinn has Sark. Colt had Mack (who I am eternally thankful for, but he's not as good of a gameday coach as Sark).
