What did you think about the 2008-09 Texas offensive lines?
Try a movie theater? Thanks! I was just trying to figure out how I could see it.
Not sure I would go that far.LB- Derrick Thomas probably is best Chiefs player all time.
All that and neither one of us was worth a damn in 1992.I hate Baylor with a passion, when I watched the referees screw Texas in order to give Grant his win, I started hating Baylor.
Then when I got back to my car someone had taken a big rock and bashed the driver side door.
I blamed myself because I had left a Texas hat in the back window.
You would have thought that stealing the game would have been enough but they had to vandalize my car.
I agree on Sam. Due to the injuries to the defense I think that there was so much pressure on Sam to score on every series that he and Herman got way too conservative. JMO.
As someone that didn't watch a minute of UT's win over Iowa State this weekend, I can certifiably admit to being a part of the "Shaka Smart has killed my taste for Texas basketball" Club.
Yet, if I'm being completely honest ... I have to pass along a thought that I had this weekend.
I want to see Greg Brown play basketball for the Longhorns to such an extent that I'd probably trade another season of Shaka if it meant that I got to see Brown's freak show for a single season in person.
There ... I said it. I don't like myself for saying it, but I've said it.
How about we blow an air horn to stop the play 3 sec after we snap the ball in practice? Sam needs to learn to get the ball out of his hands faster. That will take pressure off of the oline and the wrs should work harder to get open more quickly if they believe the ball is going to be there as soon as they come out of their breaks. Also establishing a strong running game and play action passing could make our offense dominant and keep the defense off the field and allow them to play more aggressively and with more energy when they are out there. I hated the bend but don't break defense that saw every qb we faced having career highs in yardage. I hope this year they cover better and make the qbs less comfortable in the pocket. If Coburn can drop about 20 lbs of bad weight, he could have a breakout season.Yes, an improved set of coaching around Sam is critical.
I don't think it will happen on our side until we play Baylor 2 or 3 times with the conference championship on the line (or at least both sides going into the game with no more than one loss). For the most part, Baylor sucked when Mack was on a roll and we sucked when Briles was on a roll.I suppose the question I would ask is this ... what would have to happen for Baylor to actually register as an actual "rival" moving forward?
I'm just expressing that if your quarterback play is at a certain level, all kinds of sins can be washed away.absolute dog crap. I should have stayed that we haven’t had a good line since 2006. That said, if you are hinting that Sam needs to be 2008 Colt for this team to be great, 9 regular season wins will be our ceiling, because I don’t think Sam has that accuracy in him.
I was born in Waco and lived there until I was 10.Why a fan of Baylor back in the day Ketch!?
I could go with that. BU, TCU, OSU and TTU would all probably fall intoTier 2 rival?
None from that group stands from the pack even a little?I could go with that. BU, TCU, OSU and TTU would all probably fall into
taht category.
It's a non-confirmation biased number. It isn't opinion-based. It's the same for all.The passer efficiency rating is a good stat, but not as comprehensive in evaluating a QB as you seem to believe.
Among other factors, the passer efficiency rating fails to evaluate:
- the QB’s running and scrambling skills
- the number of fumbles lost by the QB
- the number of interceptions that were Hail Mary throws at the end of the half or game
- the difficulty of the D the QB is facing (I refer you to Mahomes against SF in the Super Bowl)
- the caliber of protection afforded by the O-Line and the pass rush pressure on the QB
- the caliber of route-running and receiving skills of the receivers
- the brilliance or ineptitude of the offensive scheme
- the caliber of play-calling
In the context of the challenges facing Sam, he performed brilliantly in his junior season, despite his passer efficiency rating climbing only slightly over his sophomore season. For example, how many fumbles did Sam lose during the 13-game, 2019 season? ZERO. That’s efficient. Sam now has 1 lost fumble in the past 2 seasons encompassing 27 games.
Sam had 4 excellent, reliable receivers in 2018, Lil Jordan, CJ, Devin and Andrew Beck. For most of the 2019 season he had only 1, Duvernay. The offensive scheme was vanilla and the play-calling too often predictable. The receivers failed to consistently gain separation. Probably half or more of Sam’s completions were dimes to well-covered receivers. Often, with everyone covered, Sam was forced to scramble, take a sack or throw it away. While Joe Burrow often had 5-6 seconds to find an open receiver, Sam was usually under intense pressure from a heavy pass rush.
2 of Sam’s 10 picks in 2019 were desperation throws that didn’t hurt the team.
Would most top college coaches be thrilled with their QB producing 32 TD passes against 8 picks and ZERO fumbles...and with superb scrambling and tough, chain-moving running?
If during the 2020 season the Horn offensive scheme, route running, O-Line pass blocking and play-calling improve, and Sam stays healthy, the Horns will thrive and win. which is all Sam really focuses on.
Oh, his efficiency rating should look pretty good too.
It's dead even in the last decade and when you consider other sports, I'd contend the right here and right now is more relevant than the decade before the last decade.I don't think it will happen on our side until we play Baylor 2 or 3 times with the conference championship on the line (or at least both sides going into the game with no more than one loss). For the most part, Baylor sucked when Mack was on a roll and we sucked when Briles was on a roll.
TCU has been a major thorn in our paw since coming to the Big12. Gary Patterson really hates UT and his team always plays us really hard. That being said BU and UT always get pretty chippy when they play.None from that group stands from the pack even a little?
Baylor ticks more boxes in other sports, no?TCU has been a major thorn in our paw since coming to the Big12. Gary Patterson really hates UT and his team always plays us really hard. That being said BU and UT always get pretty chippy when they play.
I would have to pick these two as the next tier rivals below OU.
Yes, they do. They've owned us lately in Basketball, both mens and womens. There is something about Baylor that feels dirty and crooked. Art Briles, Scott Drew and the whole Baylor board of regents make me want them out of our lives forever. They're a stain that won't wash off, a stench that won't go away, something you stepped in and can't get off your shoe.Baylor ticks more boxes in other sports, no?
Let’s let this topic die.I could go with that. BU, TCU, OSU and TTU would all probably fall into
taht category.
F******* Baylor and all their female anatomy cult fanatics.I hate Baylor with a passion, when I watched the referees screw Texas in order to give Grant his win, I started hating Baylor.

Again, enough of this make-believe wish for Ketchum.Yes, they do. They've owned us lately in Basketball, both mens and womens. There is something about Baylor that feels dirty and crooked. You make a good case W/L wise for them being a rival, but I don't want to give them any credibility by playing them . They are bottom feeders who have had a recent string of good luck due to their nefarious methods and ways . If we could change the conference, they should be the first to go .IMO.
I get what you're saying , but there is something very tainted about their athletic programs.
Sales pitch isn’t working. Stop.Baylor ticks more boxes in other sports, no?
