Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Let's just talk about it all... again)

I can promise you that CDC and Tom’s relationship isn’t nearly as “fractured” as the media thinks. As a matter fact, what Tom said is pretty much accurate. Of course the “fire Tom Herman” crowd will never believe that, and that’s ok. Tom actually said it best when he mentioned the vocal minority.

For your 80th post ever explain how you know this to be 100 percent accurate despite the reporting on multiple sites from guys with decades experience saying otherwise.......

Herman isn't losing his job if he wins the first conference title since 2009. H'e just not IMO.

I guess the question is did you see the sooners spank the cowboys this weekend? Case closed. Hopefully it would not come down to a 63-14 blow out back in 2000. Hard to forget.

Luck might be the only way big H wins now since winning is so hard. Even against teams with barely a pulse. Sad that these types of wins including the product on the field actually is considered winning. Recruits are showing what this momentum means.

Please make this 10+ years of suffering stop.

Herman shouldn't have a job at Texas regardless of what happens the rest of the year. Even if he wins the Big 12 in the worst Big 12 season I've ever seen it more than likely is the only title he will ever win.

Recruiting is not going to get better next year.
Next season is going to be ugly
We will just end up sitting here in November of 2021 talking about Herman's job security again...Assuming he doesn't get canned mid-season after getting blasted by OU....AGAIN.

CDC and Herman are not on the same side. CDC does not support Herman. Neither does anyone else at Texas. Hell the other Head Coaches at Texas want him gone and threw him kicking and screaming under the bus when they backed CDC over Herman during the Eyes Debacle.

It is a very toxic work environment which is why Herman needs to be fired.

I think we'd all have to be careful with assuming anything in 2020.

Body of work over four years including this year. Record against tcu. Record against ou. Immaturity of the head coach. Recruiting is not at an elite level. Potentially a hof coach is available. Last reason is enough in its own for me. Hard for me to not say the Baylor and wvu games were ugly ugly wins against bad teams.
so Let’s take out his first year because every coach always gets a transition year. Year 2- Sugar Bowl win
Year 3- Underachieved, inexcusable. Made necessary coaching changes
Year 4- On the cusp of a potential 8-2 season and CCG birth

The losing to OU and TCU are absolutely an issue. Keep in mind that OU has been humming as program for several years. It’s going to take us time to catch up. Lincoln was handed the keys to an elite program. Tom took over a program that hadn’t experienced even a winking season in several years. I just think it’s lazy to not acknowledge the fact that Tom has actually taken the right steps to get this program going in the right direction. Maybe the UM rumors have just blinded people to all that.

I would bet the house he gets canned in 2021 then.

Yep. Even if Herman by some act of Satan won the Big 12 we'll just be sitting here on a Ketch's 10 Thoughts post in November of 2021 talking about Herman's job security. He needs to be fired this year. There is no good justification for prolonging this.

@Ketchum please bury those what ifs and pour concrete over them. Those hurt my heart and dont need to relive or think about until I'm into some single malt sometime in the future. In fact I think I had blocked a few out until you dredged them up.

What if Chris Simms signs with Tennessee and Eli Manning signs with Texas?

“By some act of satan we win the Big 12” clearly you are just a troll, right? There is no way you are a Texas fan. Because if you were, you’d likely be rooting for a conference championship and an 8-2 season, but what do I know. Again, pathetic post and it’s unfortunate our student athletes have to deal with this. They are competing their asses of to win that so called “act of satan”

Well, they ain't on good enough terms for his boss to want to go on the record with any reporter.
So, if CDC isn't speaking with reporters, who's leaking out all this info? Those who work with/for CDC? Or, are you saying that CDC is talking to reporters off the record?

In year 2 he lost 4 games including losing to Maryland (AGAIN), losing to an average at best OSU, an average WVU and he got beat on national TV by OU in the Big 12 title game. Oh and let's not forget he was one competent Tulsa kicker away from losing at home to F*ING TULSA and he barely beat Kansas by 7.

And let's talk about his staff changes....Where are the elite recruiters? Where is his Brewster type guy? Yurcich is irrelevant because we all know Turtle Tom is forcing Yurcich to call the offense the way he wants it called. Special teams is crap. The WRs couldn't beat man coverage if you gave them a 5 second head start. The OL is utter shit (Why was Hand retained?) And the TEs are....There....That's about the most you can say. The RB rotation is asinine and Tom is trying to destroy Sam's body by forcing him to take so many hits by running the ball and playing behind a horrible OL.

And that doesn't even begin to touch on his failure as a recruiter and program builder. Why the hell did we not recruit a true Center until year 3? Why have we whiffed on the elite OL talent? How in the bloodiest of bloody blue hells did Herman manage to lose the Brockermeyers whose father and grandfather played for Texas and who have a brother on the damn team right now....And then there is Ewers...Lol Tom has torpedoed this program so badly that it makes the Lusitania look like it just had a minor leak...

We’ll see soon my man. Year 2 included 4 losses don’t forget.

Let‘s back up so you can give us the details on the CDC/Herman relationship that only you know. Since you‘re adamant you can, surely you will.

I want Texas to be elite again. I want us to be in the top 5 every year. I want us to dominate recruiting in this state. I want the Brockermeyer and Ewers recruits in this state to be Texas locks. I want us to beat the ever loving daylights out of OU every year. I want us to be relevant on a national level for more than just being a national punchline. I want people to talk about Texas the way they talk about Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State. Most of all I want to see Texas win national championships. I want to see a 5th title year added to DKR and I KNOW none of that will ever happen with Tom Herman as the coach. He is OUTSTANDINGLY mediocre. All hail Turtlin' Tom....The patron Saint of Mediocrity....

This is my favorite B/S question AND answer of all time.

In borrowing a phrase from my pops, you’d bet your left nut Texas loses at least one more game.
(Sell) I think there's a very good chance it happens this weekend, but I wouldn't bet my left or right nut on it.

I guess the question is did you see the sooners spank the cowboys this weekend? Case closed.

This is where I think the Kansas Covid postponement REALLY hurts Texas. Previously, Texas would have had a bye week prior to the conf championship. For all of his faults, CTH does pretty good when he has extra time to prepare. No such luck anymore.

FWIW - I’m not sure it really matters as I see Tom turtlin’ during one of the next two, but it’s still worth pointing out.

... I feel like the last paragraph could just as easily be talking about the experience of a Texans fan on Sunday.
If the Texans had a 1st or 2nd round pick I might agree, however they don't so not really a big deal. I was happy to see the Texans beat Belichick's Patriots.

Ketch, have you ever considered that CDC going on record would just further rile up an on-edge fan base. That’s literally the only reason he does not tweet anything about the football program. He reads the comments, he knows what’s going to be said In those replies. Go back and look for yourself even when he posts his newsletter on Twitter. You can believe me or not, but they meet regularly throughout the week and are on the same page. Everything is being handled internally, as it should. That doesn’t mean Tom gets a free pass if he loses Friday. And sure, Tom did a bit of selling and exaggerating in his response to Anwar’s question last week. It was largely for recruiting purposes. He knows the heat is cranked up. In fact, it has been since the TCU loss. They have had confrontations, as any HC and AD do when the going gets tough. To Tom’s credit he has responded very well. And he’s controlling what he can right now and that’s winning. If CDC came out and spoke on the record, what would it accomplish? Would it help recruiting? Or would it just be better to remain quiet and speak on record after the results of this season? What exactly would you do in this case? Have you seen this board when someone says something remotely positive about CTH? Now picture that but on steroids...

”Literally”? So now you know not only how often they meet, and what is said, but the motives behind CDC‘s tweets?

I don't know either way. But I'm pretty sure that what sources are telling the mods on different sites is what the sources want the mods to report.

Yet, our leader, Chris Del Conte, rewarded him with a raise and contract extension. That's on CDC.
