Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Ready or not, the season continues...)

I loved the atmosphere of the stadium. Although I must say that there were people around me that did not appreciate how loud I had to be to support my Horns. I nearly got into it with a fellow UT supporter! It’s hard to believe people still go to football games expecting a quiet and laid back atmosphere.
olds?

If this is the week in and week out intensity we get from this defense then we will be in good shape, despite the injuries to the offense. We may have to eek out some wins but that's OK.

This defense definitely had a chip on its shoulder. Maybe a lot of it was the help of GP game planning or maybe they are also buying into PK's system. But if they continue this exciting play it will attract a lot more big level talent.
It's what you would hope for when you have to made men on the defensive side of the ball working together.

Jimbo Fisher embarrassed his school on Saturday. Simple as that. Not only did Appalachian State come into College Station and take the game right to them in beating them 17-14, but they took Game Day away from the Aggies in the process. Flat out had their cornbread taken.

... Jimbo was supposed to be a QB guru, but now he feels like a coach you want away from the quarterbacks. Woof.
❤️❤️😂

Hanks has a love of music from that era. He should have stayed satisfied with being a producer and bit role player in this one. Heck, play Vernon.

With Elvis, you could have separate lists for top 10 studio recordings and top live songs.

This showcases his voice and was a concert favorite:

seriously, what was that accent he went for?

... Shout out to the Texas volleyball team ... excuse me ... the No.1-ranked volleyball team. It was a ho-hum weekend in defeating both UC Davis and Denver this week after going through No. 7 Ohio State twice, No. 4 Minnesota and No. 12 Stanford in the previous two weeks. The Longhorns have lost two of their first 20 sets this season.

You forgot to point out that against UC Davis Texas played only 1 starter in all 3 games. We set the entire 1st team rotation on the bench outside of Fleck at libero. That had to be demoralizing for UC Davis, our 2nd team swept them in 3 games. Can't imagine football ever getting to that level of dominance but would be awesome.

PLEASE Del Conte, get us out of the Big 12 ASAP! Do you think we will get any close call over the next 2 years, especially in 2024 on the farewell tour. Will cost us wins, count on it. Grant Teaff's last game comes to mind.

When I had a high ankle sprain I couldn't stand on it for days after it happened. No way Card's was as bad as mine. I probably could have played a football game in five-six weeks but wasn't 100% for months. Hopefully his is no more than a few weeks. Might not be much sooner than Ewers. But maybe it's pretty mild as high ankles go and he can play this week or next.
I think you just worry about how long he can go before he re-aggravates it and it becomes a bigger problem. Damned if you, damned if you don't, I suppose.

Can someone post the hit that hurt McEwers? It appears to me a hit that I would eject coachs from coaching for at least a year when I was referring That type of crushing shoulder in the ground is absolutely coached. Hopefully not at professional level

At some point can the damn football Gods smile on us....

This year will have to endure some duct tape and super glue, but who knows what they might be able to cobble together, but one thing is for sure, next year does indeed start to feel like a year for big things after the start to this year.
Just need the duct tape to hold.

Banks looked great. The scheme was awesome. They rarely, if ever, left Banks 1-1 against Anderson in a pass play. Karic balled out as a pass blocking TE.

The run game against sec quality lines will take a few years in the weight room. that was a strength issue. We got very little movement against their older d line.
OL communication with each other appeared to be really good, I thought. Seeing those guys pass off stunting bama linemen was impressive. Not perfect but I Was surprised they didn’t make more mistakes.

wish I was more optimistic about next few weeks. If the rest of the team plays like it did yesterday, then we may win out before Ewers returns. But teams don’t usually do that. There are ups and downs and we likely won’t have great qb play to make up for that.

can’t wait to watch, though.

3. As solid as Danny Trejo was as the punter and Bert Auburn was in knocking down a potential game-winner, the kicking game cost this team a chance to win the game with the missed 20-yard field goal at the end of the first half. The deep-snapping issue has to get fixed. This area of the team remains a work in progress.

My thoughts on this...

I forgave the FG team for missing the 20 yarder at the moment that the 48 yarder at the end of the game split the uprights. If the Texas defense holds on to win at the end, Auburn is never buying another drink in Austin the rest of his life.

2. If we play the what if game and give Texas the made FG at halftime, Bama is down 5 points with 1:30 to go instead of 2 points. With the way Bryce Young was locked in down the stretch, I believe that he would have been able to get them into the end zone on that final drive and Texas loses either way.

With all that said, I agree completely that the team can not continue giving away points on short FG attempt misses.
