Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying what needs to be said)

It has always been about winning the Big 12 for me. Especially on the way out the door.

It will be disappointing that the OU loss keeps us out of the playoff. Particularly after coming back to take the lead.

I feel good that this season proves this staff can put together a good team. Sark no longer has the catcalls that he can’t get ten wins. We stay on this path and we will make the 12 team playoff fairly regularly.
totally agree

You got it wrong Ketch.

Florida State is out barring a Michigan or Texas loss in the championship. I’ll circle back next week with an I told you so.

If Bama wins, we’re definitely in the CFP. Mark my words, that’s the clearest path to the CFP behind an ACC or BIG conference championship upset.
Agree

Good stuff @Ketchum ….particularly #1 needed to be said. IMO, 12-1 and a conference championship puts the program well ahead of schedule. It also opens the door for Sark to run a “Leave No Doubt” season next year. I hope this team gets a shot at an NC this year, but if not, they are set up nicely.

It would definitely light the 2024 pilot.

My point was about prior week selection rankings. Texas resume has been better all year yet Oregon stays ahead due to perception. also it’s about current rank, which they (Oregon State) are ahead of 9-2 SMU and 11-1 James Madison and Toledo but yes this was Oregon’s first top 25 win. I think they should be outside top 25, but gotta help our Oregon Sos
Stop worrying about Oregon.

Hard to imagine that knowing what a fan you are of Love, Actually that you didn’t have it on this list… I’m shocked and awed…

Truth of it is that I had never watched it till you started promoting it on OB and now I’ll watch it every year for as long as I have years
It's not a non-Christmas Christmas movie. It's a literal Christmas movie.

Don't do this. Every time you disagree with something and your position is not toward Texas, you accuse your subscriber base of being emotional and unable to reason objectively.

It's a lazy and condescending way to support your position and you are usually above it.

It's my opinion that Oregon is better and has been playing better than Oregon.

To say otherwise would be pandering to my audience and being untrue to myself.

@Ketchum agreed but we cannot take this season for granted and be ok with missing the playoffs. After watching all the top teams several times this year this Texas team fully healthy and a month to prepare can't beat any of them. Times like these do not come around often regardless of the future 12 team playoffs. I will be sick if we are left out this year.
...you just said " can't " beat.....Shirley you meant CAN? 😳😉🤘🏻

Oregon doesn’t matter..

I think our best chance of actually getting in is with Alabama beating Georgia .

It’s that game and/or FSU losing (maybe that isn’t even needed as some say).

Earned what? Their SOS isnt great at 56. If they aren’t the fourth best team in the country right now or much less after next week they have no business being there. We all know they aren’t good without Travis. They would lose to everyone in the top 8 in humiliating fashion

The have mostly battered the teams on their schedule.

Their best win is a 21-point win over the current No.13 on a neutral field. That's in the zip code of what Texas did in beating No.8 on the road by 10.

I don't disagree. But they shouldn't be ahead of Texas right now. Once they beat Washington, it changes the discussion.
Do you believe Texas is better or do you believe Texas has the better resume?

Yes, it is. Keep an eye on the CFP rankings on Tuesday. The AP and coaches poll is what you’re referring to. The CFP rankings is all that matters.
And Oregon isn't rated ahead of FSU in the CFP rankings.

You are speaking of something that might happen, but certainly hasn't happened yet.

Zero percent offended by that. I definitely agree that they've done a better job of keeping the throttle open and finishing the bad teams they've played (who I would argue are worse than the teams Texas has played, other than UH).

I also think it would be close to a tossup game at a neutral field in Vegas' eyes and Oregon would probably be a slight favorite.

But I also would think you would think Texas, right now, is significantly better than FSU and maybe Washington. I know they're undefeated so maybe that is why eye test doesn't apply.

I just hate the you're too biased to see what I see argument. Just state your case, don't resort to that.

Im curious about the rationale. If both Big 12 and Pac12 winners have 1 loss, why would Pac12 trump the Big 12 automatically?

Our SOS would be better, our best win would be better.

Because both teams are ahead of Texas before one of them picks up a massive win.
